I'd argue it's more about DF being light on systems rather than light on content. Less systems means less stuff that everything has to be built around, leading to more room to just work on content & related items. If the devs didn't have to completely work everything around covenants (stories, class balancing, abilities, gear sets, quest chains, etc), I imagine SL might have had more to do overall or at the very least quicker content releases.

I still think DF will be relatively light on content overall, but that IMO is more to try to get this expansion & the next one out quicker & with more of a steady cadence than SL had. If the content feels light overall while continuously coming out & fixing bugs/design flaws as they go, I think it'll overall be one of the better received expansions.

I think that DF will likely be short on content in the same sense that Shadowlands is short on content. Despite there being a hell of a lot to do, from mounts to cosmetics, torghast, a few different end game zones with collections, raids and dungeons...

It will feel like there is nothing to do. I am happy to see a return of talent trees, but "new systems" served a very real purpose of giving players something to do at all times that actively progressed power. And I'll be honest, I just don't think enough people are into that in a WoW style game.

Despite that im very optimistic for the expansion

I wish they would atleast realize that pushing player image as actual sports do is cringe.

There's nothing cool about seing some unfit nerdy dude acting "cool" on the camera. They have 0 charisma unlike actual athletes that do sports. Everytime I see it it's awkward.

I just want to see the Mage talent tree...

But I don't understand why it's taking so long for Alpha to start. I mean, since Legion Alpha's are beginning way earlier than Beta.

I doubt Blizzard is planning to release this expansion on Christmas week, so we're already down to five-ish months...

What's cringe is your need to shame people for being unfit. People don't need to be fit to be cool. Charisma has nothing to do with your BMI.

Towellier taking the day off today.
I'm guessing we'll get alpha mid next week.

See, profession revamp. The profession revamp can easily be used to tie all other activities on a rewarding progression track. If you need to both level your different recipes and need a wide variety of reagents with the ability to also use consumables to improve results, everything can lead there in the same way that almost everything in Legion helped with your artifact or Legendaries.

Also running ahead but BlizzCon 2023! We will get to have a proper speculation time for 11.0 instead of this mess

Those are two different things. They have 0 charisma because they aren't used to being in the spotlight.

They are trying to paint them as actual athletes when they are not.

And being unfit is a choice, I'm sorry that I'm offending bad lifestyle choices.

Neither do most physical athletes without training on how to better respond. Even with coaching on how to be more presentable to media some just are not. You are also creating an arbitrary line for the definition of athlete which is silly. Despite your hate e-sports are a thing and it does take skill to compete so there is no reason why the competitors can't be called athletes. The US also issues "athlete" visas for e-sports players.

I enjoy watching e-sports sometimes, mostly for fighting games. So no, I don't hate them.

I also didn't know about the athlete thing. The definition of the word mentions only physical sports. It's weird.

Your words indicate otherwise. You are broadly insulting all e-sports players as automatically inferior to any physical athlete.

And the big athletes have entire marketing teams behind them and film advertisements with experienced directors in proper film sets. Even the better e-sport players are probably self-marketed and do their content on what is available to most streamers. You can fake charisma to an extent.

There are a fucking myriad of reasons a person can end up looking the way they do.

As someone who used to be obese and still struggles with my sense of self, body image and relationship to food, chuckling it up as simply a 'personal choice' is an insanely dumb, reductionist take and its honestly just insulting.

Sports by definition is physical activity, so e-sports is like decaf coffee - inferior by definition.

Just like being poor is a choice.

I'm unfit and it ain't no choice of mine - I have a disability that has meant I needed help to get and stay fit, and I've only just started getting help after 20 years of looking.

Challenge Mode : Play WoW like my disability has me play:
You will need two people, Brian MUST use the mouse for movement/looking and John MUST use the keyboard for casting, attacking, healing etc.
Briand and John share the same goal, same intentions - but they can't talk to each other, however they can react to each other's in game activities.
Now see how far Brian and John get in WoW.

    Yawn.

Chess is recognized by the International Olympic Commitee as a sport and so is bridge

Not really an arbitrary definition, just the literal one.

The literal definition of the original word is someone who accomplishes feats. Those feats do not necessarily have to be physical.

And you might have a point if, you know, we were speaking ancient Greek and not English. "Dance" comes from a word that originally meant stretch, but that doesn't mean anyone who is stretching is a dancer.

The word means someone who is an active doer of physical sports or activities, or someone who is otherwise very physically fit.

Playing WoW is as physical as chess
