Asked the customer support guys if my perma ban from 7 years ago matters if I get chosen for beta or not, they said nope as it's too old of a ban.

That system is pointless when you can switch what mainspec means at will.

People's concern is clearly the usual nonsense about ninjaing (because people seem obsessed with not being able to play in organized, non-shitty communities). In LFR or literally anywhere else, if they want to roll on something in the way people insinuate with the main/off specc thing, they'd have to change the loot specc while the boss is still being fought in hopes that the item they want to grief on is going to actually drop. Once the roll is already going, so the second loot has been popped up on your screen, your specc roll choice is locked in.

Apparently they do these waves manually or semi-manually so waves can take a couple days

Even though the system *functions* the same way, my reaction to Personal Loot giving someone an item and they say they need it for transmog will be a whole lot different than someone pressing need on it and "taking" it from me for the same reason.

No difference on a technical level, player reactions will be night and day.

It was pretty obvious to me that group loot will have more modern rules that would prevent from snatching item you don't even need. But I see from wowhead comments still some people have problem with understanding system even after this blue post.

So in general, positives changes are: no more "do you neeeeeeed?" and whispers; yep I clicked 'need', I need this; and second, this will discourage class stacking. Only big problem I see are weapon types that only few specs use, like bows/guns for 2 hunter or warglaives for 2 demon hunter specs.



Don't worry, you will find something to call DF worst shit ever created. Probably when you find out that flying mounts have gravity or sth.

Dude it took months for players to realize flex in MoP was winged...I don't expect much from the group

I think the weapon problem won't be as bad as we are assuming though

The situation where that works would require it to be an upgrade in terms of ilvl for both of you with the new system

If they have something higher or equal it prioritizes the roll of the person with lower gear

With personal loot you are not taking it from anyone.

In group loot, other people can actively see all loot and see this one guy need rolling on everything

What do you mean no more? Items will remain fully tradable to eligible players after you win a roll, so of course peeps will get plenty of whispers.

Because currently it's not clear that you need item when you get it, you can get it randomly, that's why people ask. Especially since people do LFR or even higher difficulty for different things than gear, so they often indeed don't need gear.

Now you will hit button NEED before you get item, which imply that, yes, you need that. Sure, you still can get angry whisper from some shithead, but that person will know he will achieve nothing.

Yeah, you're probably right, only 'problematic' weapons are warglaives, agi ranged and agi daggers anyway.

You really do not know player base if you think it will reduce whispers. "Pls I really need that, plsplsplsplsplspls", "Bro, y u need that? It has shit stats for your spec", "WTF??? You alr have 2 set, give it to someone else!" Guaranteed people wont even pay attention to whether item was won in Need roll.

Nah from what I read it would only cancel them out if they had the EXACT same item? Because in that scenario I could be denied an actual upgrade if I had a ring with 5 more ilvl but horrible stats for my spec etc.

So anyone can need for anything if it's their main spec and they don't have the same item I think?
