I mean we could speculate about the future stories under the new light of the recent changes in direction? Maybe we will finally be rid of Thrall for good and follow the empowering adventures of Aggra in the future? I'd welcome that over another "let's pick a weapon that resembles my crude blunt axe held together by shoestrings and kodo dung" quest or working through his mommy issues for a 3rd time. I guess it comes down to if Blizzard is finally cured of their WoW GT attempts or if they keep demystifying every last inch of the franchise.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.
Let's keep this thread on the topic of future WoW content patches and not the discussion of social politics or what have you.
"We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see." ― Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

If only we had some content to talk about. I suspect 9.2 reveal will be big and maybe involve Mike Ybarra, but that's November territory. Hopefully 9.1.5 launch 20th, PTR progress is slow as hell, but beside MT nothing major needs much testing, M+ is tested already.
November is not a given, however I do not see them waiting till over the Holidays to make people excited. November makes the most sense and usually news about the next patch happens within 2-3 weeks after the previous patch has been released which would put 9.2 news in Mid/Late November as the likeliest candidate.
Especially since they are seemingly going to push everything into 9.2 releasing in January/February with Blizzcon Online later that February which should lead us into Expansion Announcement. Unless the Announcement in November is that they are going in for the long haul and 9.3 is a given which would put the Expansion Announcement as another Gamescom announcement.

Fundamentally they need a dub, Ion already teased that 9.2 would be mindblowing and all that jazz prior to 9.1s' launch. So it is clear they have put their resources on the next patch to be as good as humanly possible with all the restraint and conditions they've been put under.
It just makes sense to revitalize everything in November due to the fact that Fresh Classic will release in November and also having news about the future of the game just makes logically sense, especially if they want to give us the somber news that 9.2 is the end and we're heading out on a new adventure in October-November next year.
We are not getting 9.2 till late february/early march at the earliest.
It's kind of sad... twenty years ago, if Blizzard announced a delay or was taking an inordinate amount of time, everyone assumed that this was due to them being supremely competent developers. These days? It's attributed to incompetence, unfortunately with good reason.
Twenty years ago people didn't give a shit about delays because people didn't take every last little thing in a single video game as some life or death matter that needed to be screamed about for months. Blizzard was just as incompetent 15-20 years ago as they are today, people on all sides of every issue are just more eager to be stupidly outraged about shit.
It's not even a trend exclusive to WoW, it's something observable in pretty much any domain, movies, music, politics, sports, medicine, you name it.
