We are not getting 9.2 till late february/early march at the earliest.

It's kind of sad... twenty years ago, if Blizzard announced a delay or was taking an inordinate amount of time, everyone assumed that this was due to them being supremely competent developers. These days? It's attributed to incompetence, unfortunately with good reason.
Twenty years ago people didn't give a shit about delays because people didn't take every last little thing in a single video game as some life or death matter that needed to be screamed about for months. Blizzard was just as incompetent 15-20 years ago as they are today, people on all sides of every issue are just more eager to be stupidly outraged about shit.
It's not even a trend exclusive to WoW, it's something observable in pretty much any domain, movies, music, politics, sports, medicine, you name it.
so if we're getting 9.2 around blizzconlines time, when do we expect to hear about 10.0? no fucking way we're getting 9.3 at this rate.

10.0 won't just fall from the sky no matter how hard Blizzard wants box money in 22. If they made sure 10.0 production was on schedule despite lockdown&friends, there won't be 9.2. If 10.0 is delayed from 2022 to let's say summer 2023, 9.3 is needed even if it would be 9.1 size.
For sure it won't be that hard to convince HQ for delay. 2022 should be at least Diablo Immortal (laugh all you want, but it will be rain of money), OV2 with box price and who knows when Diablo IV launch. I bet one of these 3 (OV2, DIV, 10.0) is scheduled for Christmas '22. Check Blizzard releases for different years to compare.
You seriously expect answer for that?
Regular patches simply don't launch in April and July. Cause you can undercook them and launch in March/June at the end of quarter.

If they are announcing 10.0 in november, then we are getting another patch.
They are not gonna have us wait 9 months just to announce the expansion, just so we can wait another half a year for it to release with absolutely nothing in-between.
We'll get the 9.2 announcement this year, with its release in February/March.
10.0 announcement will also be in February and we'll get the next expansion Q4 2022.
Alternatively, they announce 9.3 in Feb and 10.0 is set for Blizzcon.

Don't get me wrong. I would LOVE proper 9.3, reveal on real Blizzcon with audience and launch in August like my two favourite launches (Legion and BfA). This game really need some hiatus similar to late WoD, both for players (especially ones that never take breaks) and devs (to come up with fresh ideas).
But without crystal ball we simply don't know, especially Blizzcon with California attitude towards lockdowns.
I think 9.2 could be test to release patch with as few game systems as possible (outside sets of course). To be honest Renown is already pretty pointless, you get almost nothing per level and quests to increase it are profitable on their own.
About 10.0, my whole point is they are doing it at same time as patches. Especially stuff that people take for granted, like zones that are usually first things to test on Alpha. You can't just throw all people to make 10.0 continent in 50% time. So if that part of game is delayed, everything is.

5.4 lasted for 14 months and back then the dev pipeline wasn't complete shitshow due to pandemic and the company wasn't sued in dozen different lawsuits.
It'll take half a year to get 9.2 released. When it comes out at the latter half of Q2 (to boost those MAUs) they can easily announce 10.0 in November and release it in Q3 2023.
If content takes 14 months to launch, dev pipeline is complete shitshow by definition.
And let's not repeat "9.1 August at the earliest" horror stories. On right schedule 9.2 would launch late November. Projected late February already is big delay. And PTRs don't last 4 months, but ~10 weeks + holidays.
5.4 lasted so long because Blizzard seems to have attempted to make MoP a one year expansion.
The problem wasn't how long it took to make WoD, it was how quickly Blizzard churned out content.
Unless the developers have been completely focused on SL the work on 10.0 have long since started, the question is just how long they would need to get it to a state where it can start to get some fine-tuning.

Dammit, I really liked that one. Felt like a natural progression of the dumb "stop clicking me" jokes Blizard have done since Orcs vs Humans.
Still, probably wouldnt have noticed if it wasnt for someone looking for it. Not like I make a habit of returning to the Order halls unless they are absolutely stellar or otherwise have a purpose like with the Dreamgrove, and the Warrior order hall was especially boring, only barely more engaging than the Priest one.
