The world revamp dream will never die!
- The whole world (EK + Kalimdor) being the endgame content with some of the old zones being kept for 10.X patches.
- No more borrowed power systems but a different kind of progression instead.
- More grounded storyline, taking a break from the cosmic threats for a bit AND not being fueled by a faction war.
- OR, considering the Jailer messes with reality, a reinvented Azeroth timeline, with perhaps an extension happening in Lordaeron as many hints point to.
- OR a considerable timeskip, as this was never done before either.
- New ways of leveling such as exploring or crafting.
- Timewalking content being made relevant and accessible at all times.
- New armor system.
- New talent system.
These are the things that come to my mind when thinking about something different/not done before.
Predicting 10.0 is gonna be "different" is like 'predicting' 10.0 is gonna have new content in it.
A new expansion is fundamentally bound to be "different" from the mere fact that it's a new expansion.
He didn't say 10.0 will have something never done before. He said it will be different. It could mean:
- reintroduction of PVP vendor that was gone last 2 expansion
- complete removal of AP
- removing random gear buffs after almost 10 years
- complete removal of PVE and PVP servers and introducing new system to switch between them
- introducing new dungeon system that will keep dungeons relevant for whole expansion
- introducing flexible raiding size
- introducing more than 1 difficulty
etc. etc.
You catch the drift? That statement simply doesn't mean anything.
It's same situation when he said "in next patch they will finally listen to community". In EVERY patch they give community something they want... but never everything. And add few things some people don't like. Before next patch list of demands fill up, it's not longer titanforging that is killing WoW, it's covenant swap, and in next patch they can sell another change as major win.
At long last I can skip that atrocious Maw intro in 9.1.5, I don't think there's something more atrocious in WoW than that initial quest where you have to pick up the fragments of the Helm.
Why exactly wasn't this available at launch?![]()
Sure 10.0 will be different. No covenants, no soulbinds, no Thorgast, no renown, etc. I think we know at least that much (going by the last several expansions).
I guess what he means is that Blizz will not do it like these last years in regards to new systems. I hope that ION FINALLY GOT IT it that they are unable to cram half a dozen new systems into every expansion and then balance/tune those new systems the whole time just to throw them away after 2 years when they finally are in a somewhat ok state!!! All at the expense of the story/other content.
I hope for less systems and more (story) content. Also simply delete followers/mission table, its a complete waste of resources to reinvent this "feature" every expansion! finally i wish they would enable cross faction play in a new expansion when it is ok from a story perspective (SL would have been ok), but im not sure if they will ever do that...i think they would even do player housing before that![]()

Is there any post with completed list of updated assets such as Human Buildings? Perhaps an Imgur post?
Now this is something to talk about!
My impression is, something that's worth to be called "completely different" must be something completely fresh and new in an expansion and be such a meaningful change in one of the core areas that it's shaping the future of the game. So borrowed power isn't it, as that's limited to one expansion. I think the bold parts are the ones that would make for the biggest changes in the end.

MAGA - Make Alliance Great Again
And what about this progression system after expansion end? Keep it? And after that?
Borrowed power is necessary evil, but it should be completely account-wide thing. It was designed for people who play only mains and with gear only system mastered their chars faster and faster each expansion.
For people who actively play alts gearing offer enough progression for whole patch. Blizzard tried with SL switching from grind based system to timegate based system, but even existence of Renown or soulbind is enough to scare away people from playing alts.
No it is really not. Other MMORPGs already do it and it's working without a major problem (if done right). A Champion System like in ESO could work very well in WoW and be a passive progression for now and forever. Heck even Age of Conan ten years ago did something similar. Ability bloat is just a poor excuse at this point. Over the years since they started their ability-purge they removed more than they added and kept. Losing 2 years of progression just feels bad and devaluates all the effort you put into your character all this time. Making it account-wide would solve a main problem, but the issue that it's only temporary still would persist. Gearing is already a system that's only temporary and very short in the regard, we don't need a progression reset every to years. It just feels bad.
The advantage of such a system is not only that it persists throughout and expansion lifecycle, but it rewards even doing low level stuff etc. - this could work very well with scaling of the entire world, e.g. doing WotLK or MoP content would still reward you in such a system; doing old content right now is only worth when you're farming pets, mounts or transmog and that's a very poor reward overall, because it's completely luck-based. Something added to that (earning an alternative sort of XP for example) would greatly increase the overall interest in doing such stuff.

MAGA - Make Alliance Great Again
Ah he's back again with making a vague comment everyone could make and then gonna bragging about when he's "right" later. "Very, very, different", to me means a bigger transition than even Wod -> legion
I will not reply to posts that are non-constructive or contain flaming and/or trolling.
You are talking about horizontal progression. It would be horrible in WoW if new content would be just alternative to existing one. Sorry but I don't see people gasping over ESO or Age of Conan progression system.
And literally how ability bloat is poor excuse. If someone will just keep adding abilities, it will become problem sooner or later. Classic RPG progression have sense if RPG has END. You get super extra powerful, defeat dragon, roll credits.
Ok keep it. Then what in next expansion? Nothing new? Then why introducing it in first place, just to have one expansion with nice thing?
Ok reset it. So just borrowed power, but exactly same borrowed power every expansion. Yay.
Establish it further. You mean adding extra points? What about people didn't play 10.0 and return in 11.0? Give everyone quick catch up and make 10.0 progression meaningless anyway? Or force people to do old expansion content?
"Or design it in a way that doesn't require a reset, maybe by tying it to item drops in one way or another (*cough* class relics *cough*)"
...and this is wishlist "just make it good".
Sorry guys but you can't keep cake and eat it. No progression outside gear, progression system designed only for expansion, ability bloat growing every year - that are our choices.
But we can think about making game better within that choices - as I said completely account-wide expansion system would give us feeling of progression and freedom with alts at same time.
