All Blizzard stated was that 9.2 would provide the full context towards the end of SL.
That legit can mean anything. I personally think it may be the last patch, but I may be wrong.

“A Drust raid got cancelled”
There was never going to be a Drust raid. Stop.

No. A world revamp would simply mean "update Kalimdor, Northrend, Eastern Kingdoms, AND/OR Pandaria to the modern art design and have them fit with the current time period when compared to the rest of the world (This could include updating the Legion/BFA Zones as well a bit, which is the unfortunate part)".
No player wants to play on a Cata-stuck Azeroth anymore. It's ugly, boring, confusing, and it's not interesting to players, especially since WoD is when players start seeing the current Art model being used for zones.

None of this has to fucking mean "OH WOW ZOVAAL WON!". Blizzard's established more than once that we'll always slap the villains, regardless of their power or relevance. That's the narrative of WoW. If Zovaal wins in SL, we're done. The end. That's not how WoW works.
I got the opposite impression - Ion said that they have "more planned after 9.2", which to me means that 9.2 is definetely not the last patch of Shadowlands and that 9.3 is reasonably likely.
This likely means that once we know what happens in 9.2, we'll know how the expansion ends, i.e. what we'll be doing in either 9.2.5 or 9.3.
EDIT: I misread the original quote.

Edit: Wrong topic. Um...Ion made WoW suck so now he sucks too? I dunno.
Bring back Murozond and have him Endgame the game.
But that's obvious - even if 9.2 is the last patch of Shadowlands, there's going to be another expansion and thus "more WoW".
I invite you to read the actual quote from the interview, including the question that was asked:
The question is about Shadowlands patches, in that context, if Ion says that they have "more planned", logically it should refer to Shadowlands patches, i.e. that they have more patches planned after 9.2 and that either 9.2.5 or even 9.3 is a thing. You talked about 9.2 a bit, but beyond that, should we expect a 2.5 or a .3 for this expansion cycle? Or will it be 9.2 and then looking toward the next thing?

Ya know, they could be extending SL's length for a multitude of reasons, not just because of COVID.
It existed long before that.

Considering the massive lack of a 9.2, and considering that, around this time of the month, we'd be anticipating 10.0's announcement by now, I seriously doubt this expansion's going to be "on schedule". I don't expect it to. You're naive to think otherwise.
The Shadowlands was is a common term in WoW: In that its exactly like the Shadowfel in D&D. The original vanilla instruction booklet refers to it as the place we see when we're dead & running back to our bodies. But the reason we visit the Shadowlands & not the "Deathlands" because it's probably far to conceptual to even be a physical place: Our mortal brains wouldn't even be able to comprehend it.

Ion just said today 9.2 is on its way. They have a full year before an expansion is on track for release. It's not naïve to think so:
*Expansions are a higher priority than Patches
*They've said they start working on the next expansion the day the previous expansion releases
*They've been back to their normal In-Person workload since April
2022 is set to have the same wow release schedule as 2019:
A major patch in March & the pre-patch in September

10.0 is coming in the summer of 2023 just like BFA. 9.3 will be in early 2023.
Kind of sounds like the ending of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated. I'll elaborate if need be.
Speaking of Calia vs the Scarlets, does anyone remember the unimplemented Dark Ranger Velonara questline both factions could get from Moorgoth? Velonara and one of her pupils have gone missing in Tirisfal Glades and he sends you to find them. This and the Scarlet flyers regarding Calia plus the fact that the Dark Rangers went with her could mean that this quest was never really planned for Shadowlands or that it was but was held back for some reason. It could be related to a possible revamp involving a Scarlet vs Calia and her undead groupies for the rights to the much vaunted Lordaeron.
On silken ebony wings the harbinger of death arrives.
Legion did not last 3 years.
Maybe they're saving it for later but I think Dark Ranger allied races were scrapped from Shadowlands because of Covid. A lot of people are acting like the next expansion was the one that's going to suffer because of Covid, but shadowlands development took all of it. But they've been back to normal for half a year now.
Besides Forsaken prejudice, they had everything set up for them as an allied race: The reunification scene with Lilian & Calia feels like an Allied Race cutscene. The Forsaken elves just roll up on a unique mount even: It's not a wild guess to say they stopped that when they came up with the Sanctum of Domination cinematic? Like, Red eyes are the undead elves' most identifying feature & suddenly they have to come up with what exactly happens when the Jailer dies. Forsaken Elves are more like death knights in that they were raised with his power, rather than fed tainted grain. I doubt they're going anywhere though, as that would mean getting rid of the Jailer also means getting rid of Death Knights.
At the very least they could have otherwise appeased the people asking for them by either adding the DK skin choices to the character customization revamp OR adding covenant eye color customization rewards to the covenant renown reward system. Really surprised they didn't do this & the achievement based character customization added with the Night Warrior Nelf eyes was a really good idea.
