There's lots of races in the game that could be playable at the flip of the switch: But they're not allied races. Sometimes they just have to add races you can't play as to deepen the emersion of the setting. Eredar, Gil Goblin, Mogu, Draenor Cat people, etc. (Though I really did think we were going to get Mogu & biped Tol'vir AR out of the 8.3 factions. Plus unlike the covenant races, they hate each other.)

I don't know if Ereder deserve a spot, but Gilgoblins are pretty much set up with them getting a female model and moving to Durotar. Mogu have been hinted by a blizz dev and I feel like there are plans for Saberon (since they came to Azeroth).

They might add Tinker or Dark Ranger as classes with new customization but they won't market them as "hero classes" after the level revamp. And hell, even the Devs have repeatedly said a Dark Ranger is just an Undead elven hunter. And they've been in the "forsaken" even before the Human Forsaken. Seems like they're prime Allied Race real estate.

They're definitely going to add one or the other eventually. But I'm pointing out there's a lot of kinds of undead elf & they've been in the horde a long time AND there's an cutscene in game that feels like an undead elf allied race related, far more than anything like that for the Venthyr.

12 weeks has not so much to do with holidays. 8.3 PTR was 14 (I counted again and it’s indeed 14 not 13) due to holidays, otherwise it’s varying from 10-12 months. I just went over it again because I was interested.

On average we can definitely expect 11 weeks for 9.2 PTR if they don’t deploy it this year, based on the last four content patches they did. If they do, we might be closer to 12 or 13 weeks.

8.1: Sep 21 > Dec 11 (11.5 weeks)
8.2: Apr 16 > Jun 25 (10 weeks)
8.3: Oct 7 > Jan 14 (14 weeks)
9.1: Apr 13 > Jun 29 (11 weeks)

8.1 was pretty damn close to 12 weeks (it was 11 weeks and 5 days) and that was not really during holidays (unless you count Thanksgiving).

I mean I didn’t contradict what you said, I just wanted to put it into perspective with some data from the last 3 years.

The earliest January date for a 9.2 PTR would be the week from January 10-14. If we take Jan 10 as the day the PTR goes live, 11 weeks bring us to March 28. Tough schedule in your example, especially if Alpha would start in April, as you said.

If we instead use Wednesday (Nov 10) as a reference point (I assume that’s the earliest possible day if they announce 9.2 on Monday or Tuesday) for the PTR, we end up at February 9 / 16 with 13 or 14 weeks of PTR.

March/June are obvious (end of quarter), January probably because a) they can't release patch in Christmas season, so week delay cause month delay, b) they usually don't want start tier shortly before holidays (I know, Nathria, but they were kinda forced, game must have SOME raid to do), c) WoW gets more crowded around Christmas anyway.

Yeah, March is one of their favorite months for patches, same as June, as you said.

5.2 came in March, 7.2 came in March, 8.1.5 came in March. 7.2.5 came in June, 8.2 came in June, 9.1 came in June.

9 months of a mid tier is incredibly long though. That’s the same length of the Antorus tier and just one month shy of Nyalotha.

Well, I'm hungry for some new leaks so I tried to search for trademarks and I realised that Shadowlands is not registered in the US (I may be wrong since I don't really know how these work).

So I decided to try on a chinese website and I searched by using "Blizzard Entertainment," keywords.
I found this result list with shadowlands in it:

Is that a screenshot of the original "leaked" picture made to seem more authentic?
It really does just seem like the picture we saw a day ago horribly compressed and rescaled.

I mean it's of course most likely fanfic but we can't really dismiss a leak just by the looks of a logo. We had several posters "debunking" the Shadowlands logo when it leaked days prior to annoucement.

And yes it does look ugly as fuck but it's still not as ugly as the WoD logo.
