That's...not a desert. It's pretty much your stereotypical "golden fields." Which is exactly what the zone looks like.

Note that the initial view of it was only the middle parts (little more than the central citadel) and cut off before the individual leaves at the bottom. It does look a lot more like oriental desert that way.

It's also important that noone knew this was supposed to be an Elysian field inspired zone. All we knew was that if this was real then it was likely something to do with the Shadowlands. And I that regard a dreamlike desert seems slightly more reasonable compared to yellow grass when you look at that picture.

Both are still from same plane of reality. Shadowlands is literally different dimension.

Alternate reality is not the same reality. And there's no reason why an army dedicated to the annihilation of the Burning Legion would align with us.

For what it's worth, I recognized it as grass the first time I saw the picture. Not only because of the grass texture in the foreground, but also because of the cliff shapes on the far left and especially the far right. Sand dunes physically can't be that steep, but cliffs can, and since the cliffs are topped with the same color ground, it was pretty obviously grass growing on the tops of rocky cliffs, which is what you see in Bastion.

Reminder that when the bastion art got leaked the visible patch of grass was cropped out, without the fuzz it just looked like dunes.

I highly disagree. most ppl who are still here posting here are making good predictions/made good predictions so far. not all of them ofc but i see those ppl who are good in predicting saying it might be up today or in very very near future, therefore i gotta trust them and hype myself with them.

You can argue that maybe that Bastion splash screen looks like sand dunes if you're not paying attention, but the black and white concept shots are clearly not.
