Ion not appearing is a plus in my book. I'm not a fan of Danuser but that's only because he's doesn't care about the Alliance and overhyped Sylvanas, other than that he's kinda ok, not Metzen ofc, but Ion... geez, that guy doesn't respect the community, and that's why most people started to hate him. Hopefully, Jeremy and Danuser will keep announcing things.

Possible. It'll be more like 9.1.5, though. QoL changes and "evergreen" content like Timewalking.

Yeah thats not true. a few devs were removed due to the scandal but there's no downsizing of any kind. This forum loves misinformation. I mean the big layoff did happen but that was like 2019 I think but even then it was support(Might of been customer support, I barely remember).

ya there's been a few gone form the scandal but I can't think of any downsizing since what the 2020 live esports team was let go?

It's worth noting that even sans downsizing there can be a lot of chaos, structural, and morale related issues that could impact in a similar way.

He means the 1500 Activision employees that were layed off in 2019. 800 were from Blizzard & they claimed none were involved in the game but that's a very obvious lie. Blizzard didn't have 800 janitors & tech support employees.

I think people way over-estimate how much Activision cares about Diablo.

What gets me is how good BfA looks in hindsight compared to SL.

It had a lot of problems of its own, of course.

But for one thing, it had a shit ton of cinematics. They mostly featured the same people, but still.

Beautiful zones, diverse content with Nazjatar and Mechagon thrown in the mix, and some of the best transmogs yet.

It was still pretty lacklustre but compared to Shadowlands it's beginning to look less so.

Eh assuming 9.2 is as good as 8.2, I think shadowlands is better. Soulbinds are boring but unoffending. I'd have actually rated bfa higher had they skipped 8.3 tbh. What a terrible patch.

Correct, they did not call them beautiful.

They said they had diverse content, which they did. I can give or take the match-3 dailies, but it's objectively "diverse" in terms of the varieties of rares, quests, activities, etc.

It's saying something that BFA looks retrospectively much better, 8.3 aside. It occupied a lot of time during the pandemic while still feeling varied. I can't say that for Korthia, at least. Also, Warfronts may have sucked gameplay-wise, but it was still nice seeing progression in those areas and returning to them. It made it feel Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms feel like they're actually a part of Azeroth and not just "the early level areas."

BFA's weaknesses were its systems (which yeah, has become a buzzword), and hopefully it means Blizzard sees things for what they can be going into 10.0 - a heavy emphasis on more sandbox-y or collectible elements with less oppressive traversal prior to flying and less perma-grind systems that feel external to your base character.

anything less than a world revamp won't cut it for 10.0 at this point. if it's another generic 'visiting another world' 'shadowlands, but make it lightlands' etc then blizzard is basically admitting defeat

Honestly the announcement was such a non slash and so predictable the only thing people want to talk about concerning 9.2 is just how shit are the new tier sets. Opinions vary from awful to not the worst thing but they could of tried harder...

Hard to talk about anything else when the only new feature in the entire patch is that you grind to get Al Bhed Primers.

Okay but just for the sake of not putting hopes in the wrong place, here's my pitch for a safer World Revamp timing, as not to sour one's taste upon 10.0. (As an avid fan of the idea myself.)

Bring 10.0, the 9th expansion, back to Azeroth, but focus on another Island continent (yea you know the one. Lizard Land.), develop those sneaky assets for the revamp alongside magical/natural Azerothian biomes, biding your time for...

11.0. - The 10th Expansion, in Nov 2024 - The 20th Anniversary of World of Warcraft. The World Revamp really flippin' happens in an evergreen fashion because they had the time they needed. It celebrates the legacy of Azeroth and it's rich storytelling, and reminds people what the company is capable of.

12.0 Maybe we check out Azeroth's backside.

but yea I'm dreaming. If they really are pulling a revamp jumping off of 9.2 I'd be surprised it's so early, and glad I guess nonetheless.

I'd rather see The End Time plot parallels happen leading into the Dragon Isles for launch content before we have the World Revamp, because then we can have more Dragons established again to incorporate in said revamp. I loved the Azurewing Repose in Azsuna, and can't wait to see some modern-WoW-style Dragon stuff.

That makes sense though? 11.0 instead of 10.0? just to be safe.. lol
