Yeah, except you didn't demonstrate that your health would be better to begin with. Rofl.

It really does have "small loan of a million dollars" energy, doesn't it?

The irony in people like that complaining about others being entitled when they don't take even a second to examine if their circumstances might be exceptional. Or worse, they don't care.
The IMPORTANCE of facts are subjective.

Wasn't impressed with Vancouver B.C., and any major US city is better than Mexicali.

Well, since moving out of the urban area I have not had issues with depression, I have more friends, far less stress. Same for the wife and kids.

Few vehicles rust out here. Repairs are cheap and easy (paid less than $1000 over 100k+ miles of driving). Gas is not bad, though I will readily agree I went for utility and ease of maintenance over gas mileage.

So its better to pay more for rent than a mortgage, even though the mortgage buys you more, it gains equity, and the payment doesn't change???

And before you start off with "well many other people feel the same" again, appealing to popularity remains a fallacious argument. You don't need to pathologise everything that runs counter to your lived experience.

    No, actually, it's not better.

But here's the thing - a mortgage has barriers to entry that rental typically doesn't. Which is the point.

If cost of utilities was important, I could easily buy a smaller house for 10s of thousands less, lowering taxes, insurance, and utilities. Plus, no pet policies to worry about, fenced yard, 2 car garage....

You pay less for older cars, especially since you don't need c&c, I pay less than $100 a month. I average about $100 in repairs a year. So, its cheap no matter how you look at is.

Yeah, this is fake, lol. There's no way in hell you got a $500 car seven years ago that you pay less than a hundred dollars a year for in terms of maintenance.

Life is subjective, personal views (even as a group) are all that really matter. You do know this, right?

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that discussing city living shouldn't revolve around the cities in the country one lives in, especially if you have no intention to ever live in another country.

Is it easier to buy a house in the urban core or a rural town? That's the point.

For affluent white people, sure. That is the point when people say suburbs and exurbs are a social blight.

I turn my own wrenches, know how to improvise, use u pull it, and own a rwd. I could spend $3000 on remanufactured engine and tranny and get another 200k miles easily.

It definitely is bullshit. The tires alone, assuming average all season tires is about $50 - 200 each. Oil changes can be $20-30 dollars depending on the oil needed. If he's in a state that needs inspections, tack on $15.

    Unless he literally goes nowhere.

Social species that makes its group decisions based on the personal views of its members....

Cities, no matter where they are, have issues that cannot be overcome because of population density.

Its easier for anyone to buy a house in a rural town because the cost of buying is significantly lower, unless you are talking about a failed city like Detroit.

Which then immediately circles back to the question of what the point in owning an automobile even is if the only cost effective way to own one is buying the lowest possible quality and then never using it anyway, lol.

Woodworking, model railroading, dog breeding, and others.

Yes, parks are a place where you can go on those rare nice days to have a very short outdoor experience.

Buying a house in the country is also much worse due to poor economic opportunities.

There's a reason rural towns are being deserted and cities keep growing. No amount of saltiness from your part will change that.

I said repairs. Oil changes and tires are shared by both new and old vehicles, and they also are about the only maintenance items I pay to have done.
