When they could just... you know... hire people direcelty themselves and remove the profit motive... and not give tax dollars to corporations but just people instead.

Why not just build it yourself government? Just hire the people to do the work you're the fucking government??? Injecting a bunch of private businesses with taxpayer money to do something for which they will try and maintain profit for something that's a public good... just seems dumb.

Sounds like other than a minor change to the speed of phasing out the bonus checks at the top end looks like they have everybody basically on board with the package as it currently is. I kinda suspect an amendment to lower the unemployment check to 300 is done but unsure if there would be 51 votes for that.

Yeah, and Pelosi is expecting the House to quickly(for the House) agree to the Senate version. Could see it sent to Biden as soon as next week.

Given it has to get into place before the 13th I should hope so.

The hallmark of this administration - competence. Renegotiating with Moderna and Pfizer to increase production. Convincing J&J to allow Merck, one of their biggest competitor, to produce J&J vaccine. It was 11 hours of non-stop negotiation with the WH officials in the middle. Ultimately, J&J realized that this will be their once in a lifetime legacy.

I thought the Budget Committee Chairman was going to Force a Vote his $15hr Amendment.
Also, they were going to burn the Parliamentarian at the stake, to appease the villagers.

Given the way these bills work I am sure there are going to be a bucket of proposed amendments in the vote a rama but I suspect they are currently nailing down their votes so most of the amendments are likely going to be doa they just want to get this thing done.

I'm like 90-95% in favor of this. Yes, essential workers by definition need to get out there. No, that's not even close to an excuse to force your workers to risk their lives because you didn't want to pay for basic, common-sense protection.

I don't think I am. If it was that simple and that direct to overrule the parliamentarian, the Democrats would have done it by now.

But republicans have done it several times, the fact that democrats don't the balls to do it is irrelevant. The police do not have the option of ignoring a federal judge, this is hyperbole pure and simple.

Middle class in DC ranges from around $60k to $200k(for families). So the first stimulus(which capped at $198k for a couple for getting at least some stimulus) encompassed the DC middle class. NYC and LA may tell a different story though, both are crazy expensive compared to DC even.

I've lived here my whole life, anything below 100k for single filers is not middle class in DC.

Please explain how anybody living in DC proper (not suburbs like PG county / Arlington), much less a family, is living off of 60K. Rent alone for a 1 bedroom is at least 2k in most places and that's being generous.

Based on latest tax return on file. So if you received a pay raise or capital gain that will disqualify you, don't file until April.
