It is all well and good, and it might actually help break the filibuster. Hear me out.

Right now we have the GOP categorically voting against everything the majority of Americans want and need. COVID relief - partisan vote down the line. Infrastructure coming up - the GOP has already doubled down on hating Americans. So right now no one is working together, despite Biden reaching across the table every time asking for input and advice from the GOP.

If the continues, and the Democrats pass Infrastructure I & II using Reconciliation, because the GOP voted down party lies against it, then we have a pattern of the GOP not helping Americans, making it all about politics and not about doing their jobs. Old news, of course - but it brings about the filibuster issue. Manchin could point to the dramatic partisanship by the GOP and say that it's time to revisit that issue, and then turn the corner.

Probably won't go down this way, but it is a possible direction.

I hope it goes down that way or something similar because if they don’t pass HR1 and Georgia and others are allowed to stand, that becomes the GOP in every place they get from that point on.

And if they wait to long and it doesn’t get passed until after redistricting next year, that’s still 10 years of them having a massive surgically accurate gerrymandering giving them power their voting population doesn’t dictate and 10 years of them using it to chip away at HR1 before the next one.

And giving NC as an example where a 50/50 split in the vote splits the seats 3 to 10 along with every other seat voted on by district along with any other position appointed or nominated by the people voted on by district, that gerrymandering alone can go a long way.
Since we can't call out Trolls and Bad Faith posters and the Ignore function doesn't actually ignore it. Add
    "mmo-champion.com##li.postbitignored"
to your ublock or adblock filter to actually ignore ignored posters. Now just need a way to ignore responses to them as well.

First of all, let's pretend this is true.

"The planet is getting worse. If we don't change our behavior, it will destroy crops, raise water levels, spread disease, cause more flooding, and basically the damage will be irreversible. One step we could take is limiting our beef consumption, which would probably be healthy anyhow."
"NO FUCK YOU I'D RATHER DIE"

But notice how I said "pretend"? Like Stormspellz said, this is an alternate reality.

This false notion stems from the British tabloid the Daily Mail, which — in lieu of actual details the Biden administration has not yet provided — took it upon themselves to speculate about what terrible things “could” be theoretically included in the plan:

The report they "cited" was published Jan 13, 2020.

Biden never said this. People speculating on what might be required said this.

Could he say this later? Yes. But he hasn't yet.

I would not be surprised if Manchin coordinates with Biden's legislative team before he comes out "against" bills. They work out what changes would be good overall, and then Manchin comes out demanding those before he'll even "consider" the bill, with Biden already briefed on them and "conceding" to those demands.
I sure hope so. I would be very disappointed if they did not. Also quite surprised.

Note that the only times that Senator Sanders or Representative AOC are even mentioned anymore is when republicans try to bring them up somehow. I believe that this is also part of their grand strategy. And for the most part it's working pretty well.

I expected them to be able to get about ZERO accomplished. They have already gotten quite a lot accomplished. Anything more is just flat out gravy.

Even the "attacks" that Senator Manchin make are quite respectful of the bills he is opposing. It often is of the form "I am in favor of much of the bill - but THIS DETAIL HERE IS A COMPLETE DEAL BREAKER THAT I WOULD *NEVER EVER* ALLOW TO PASS." His opposition is noted, but so is his lack of opposition to a lot of the bill.

The Biden team has been quite professional. Hmm that's not quite right. The Biden team has been VERY professional. I an confident that, for the most part, the statements of the democrats that go public are very well coordinated beforehand.

The good news is that Fox News is warming the country up to the idea that climate change is a big fucking problem, and that there will likely be quite a few changes to our lifestyles in order to mitigate it.

How many freezing winters of arctic air just hanging out over Texas before they say ENOUGH?

In all fairness, there isn't a daily action one person can do that would help the environment more than stop eating meat and dairy.

Most of the disappearing of rainforests, is to create livestock pasture. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defore...zon_rainforest

Water usage to produce livestock is astronomical. (Before anyone forgets, livestock require water to drink AND to grow their food) https://www.theguardian.com/news/dat...oduction-waste

One of the main causes of desertification is grazing of livestock.https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/guide...mnb/revision/4

But it's good to hear you voted for Hillary in 2016, considering Trump was a massive disaster since the 1970s and every single person who looked even slightly into his history knew that he was a con man, scam artist, liar, and all around buffoon that would make a laughing stock of our country.
I voted for neither Trump nor Hillary in 2016, just as I did not vote for either major party in 2020. It also doesn't matter who I vote for, as the winner of my state is known the minute the Democrat runner is decided.

When weighed against the hundreds of thousands of deaths caused by the mentality that inspired their refusal to wear a mask, or the long-term damage to the environment of the only planet we have to live on? No, it's not subjective that these changes are small.

But based on your "they want to change America, which means they want to destroy America!" bullshit, it's clear that you're the last person that should be talking about this.

My favorite part was Larry Kudlow's rant about this, in which he posited a nightmarish scenario where 4th of July is celebrated by grilling brussels sprouts and drinking plant-based beer.

Yes, that's right. Plant-based beer. The horror.

A bit of a hyperbole, no? Doing something almost all the other western countries already do, is hardly a socialist utopia. And calling it that is pretty much exactly what Elegiac described it as. A Red Scare.

Um...does he think "hops" come from rabbits? The fuck is "plant-based beer"? Is there somehow non-plant-based beer? Wheat the fuck is he talking about? He cannot possibly have said

    (clicks link)

    OH MY GOD.

Also, are those shrimp? And did the time-based-url (nicely done) show chicken? I mean...is the editor trying to make him look even more the fool than "plant-based beer"? Because having grilled my share of stuff, if someone told me "you can't grill beef anymore, you can only grill shrimp, chicken, and vegetables" I would say "boo hoo fuckity hoo, my grocery store has at least three different brands of chicken sausages in at least ten different flavors, grab a kebab skewer, we're doing this".

Well...yeah, but I should have added "AND I'M TAKING YOU WITH ME". Say what you want about anti-maskers, you can wear a mask around them at least. But we still have to share a planet.

My wife's response was to jokingly bemoan the loss of her bullion beer.

Thanks. I figured I didn't want to make you watch a full minute and a half of his irrelevant nonsense before getting to the relevant nonsense.

Oh, he wasn't saying you can't grill beef, he was saying you can't eat meat at all anymore. Pretty sure the point of showing the barbecued meat was to drive home what barbecues should look like, as he says that Middle America would never stand for it. It's all nonsense anyway, but still.

Middle America will never stand for...grilling chicken and shrimp. Also pork chops in the very next cut. Last shot is hot dogs that I can promise you aren't 100% beef.

Dude literally showed way more non-beef items than beef. I still say the editor was playing the "let's see what I can get away with" game. And he won.

Like I said: he wasn't saying "you can't grill beef," he was saying "you can't grill any meat at all." While showing a variety of grilled meat.

We call it the Daily Fail for a reason.

Nice to see the more prominent of Trump's idiot sons jumped straight on this, though.

It is incredible how the creators of "fake news" and "alternative facts" constantly fall for it all.

Sadly, will never happen in our lifetimes.

After all, you can't even convince people to fall for the corporate nonsense about not using plastic straws and how that alone will totally help the planet. Something so monstrously easy to do. Never mind something that will actually cause a change. People are too selfish and won't react to something they feel doesn't affect them personally.
