Yeah, like I said, it's not very realistic. I'm not sure Cuba is the best example, but it clearly didn't happen there.

Joe Manchin tells mkraju and other reporters that if there’s another SCOTUS vacancy right before midterm election, the Senate shouldn’t vote on Biden’s nominee before the 2023 majority is known.

“I’m not going to be hypocrital on that,” he says.

Wow! Manchin is the biggest troll ever. This is amazing statement and shows again he is not of the Democratic Party. Very slim opportunity of this happening, but again bringing it up or maybe answering the reporter is trolling at its best. Especially and I have to bring this up that the GOP did this last selection when of course before they somewhat did the bullshit Manchin is suggesting right here of waiting for election as Obama and Garland nomination.

The American people have elected a Democratic President, and a tied Senate with Democratic control. There's no such problem of split party control of the respective branches, hence Manchin is majorly in the wrong.

    That's horseshit.

If Biden nominates a SCOTUS candidate with two weeks left in his term, that's more than enough time for the House and Senate to consider the nomination and vote.

Anyone contesting that is a bad-faith asshat opposed to the basic precepts of democracy as a concept.

Um, it sounds like he said Manchin is wrong if he would hold up a nominee, and you agree with that...

Apparently Manchin took it back anyways when people were like "hey dumbass you voted for the rapist Brett during a midterm."

So Manchin took back his stance against hypocrisy when it was shown that he was already a hypocrite?

Par for the course, I'd say.

Biden removes another Trump "success", specifically, CA will be able to set their own emissions standards again.

Maybe if Trump hadn't done everything by E.O. then Mr. "Only I Can Fix It" wouldn't have so many of his efforts broken.

Which, correct me if I'm wrong, effectively means that California now sets the emission standards for the entirety of the United States.

California is such a car-centric state with so many people that it doesn't make sense for manufacturers to make cars that can't be driven in California.

Signing this into some sort of law espousing "state's rights to set emission standards" would be a good way to codify this as a piece of effective liberal soft power moving forwards.

I mean, if it's a reversal of Trump's actions, then, yeah, same as pre-2016.

Sen. Grassley: "I was surprised to learn that Facebook recently flagged a news article that I posted on my Facebook pages as 'false information.' The article I posted was about new Durham investigation allegations against Hillary Clinton's campaign and its associates."

Amazing the bubble they live in. This is sooooo perfect tho, for the right wing fascists. Post some bs story about Clinton spying (not the report itself) and blame facebook. On the other hand facebook was/is the biggest carrier of right wing conspiracies.

"It's everyone's fault but mine that I got called out for sharing misinformation!" wheezed the 88 year old Senator.

Well, the commentary here is the right wing bubble is just amazing in a horrible way of course. The scandals upcoming of Trump were immediately countered by this, which is actually old and a "nothing burger".

My amazement is do they believe this since they have been in the bubble this long. Even ancient Grassely who was born before tv I think just believes cause like all old, ancient people he sits in front of Fox News. Yet, they can just drive this narrative with such force and precision towards a good 40% of the population,, it halts our functioning government. Of course incoming fascism, possibly.

Anecdotally I looked up "Durham Report" to find the counter scandals of Trump. Almost all the tweets are basically "this is the most corrupt thing ever", "mainstream media not even reporting" and so on. The great propaganda of the other side is ignoring or have their heads in the sand, or the great Fake News. Yet they are victims.

I don't really know what role Grassley and the Senate have in it. It's not the Senate's duty to do something about editorial bias at facebook, should it exist.

But if he's sharing a report on Durham's allegations, of course he can personally get ticked off at calling stuff false information. Durham has a public filing with the court that came out recently. He has an actual prosecution of a lawyer for the Clinton campaign. All that is newsworthy and there's tons of fair articles that summarize those news and conjecture or write opinions about what's to come. The same goes for any prosecutor that indicts Trump on charges, or Trump's lawyers, or former officials in his administration. It'll tick people off. But Senator, you don't have any specific reason to gripe on the floor of the Senate because you don't like how private companies conduct their editorial screening. He doesn't have any legislation in committee wanting transparency (as opposed to, say, Rubio). He's frankly too old and out of touch to even ask relevant questions of Zuckerberg if they haul him up for questions.

Then maybe he shouldn't share outlets that are covering the news incorrectly and spreading misinformation.

Yes, it's just being widely misreported by conservative media. As I already linked to earlier with the Fact Check on Fox News in the Trump thread.

Unrelated to the investigation itself, I believe it was for misleading investigators about something else. But he was not nabbed on any charges directly relating to the topic being investigated.

You'd tell George Floyd that maybe he shouldn't be passing counterfeit bills.

If you had the news article in hand that Grassley linked...

He's indicted for lying to the FBI. The first page of the indictment notes the "purported secret channel of communications" he only knew about from his contact with Tech-Executive-1. It's pretty connected, though not the crime he's being charged with. It doesn't take wild accusations of criminality to make the American people raise eyebrows at a Clinton lawyer checking out Trump's DNS data.

Because as we all know, getting murdered by police is the same thing as getting your post flagged on social media because it contains fake news.

What a disgusting non sequitur. Stay classy, conservatives.

I mean it's fairly safe to assume it was a conservative outlet spreading misinformation. Unfortunately it seems he's deleted it as I can't find it on his official Senate page nor find mention of it elsewhere. That or he just made it up, which seems likely as well.

Yes, because decades of the anti-Hillary cottage industry have been fantastically profitable and successful at maligning her.

But like, she's not fuckin running right now so all the conservatives talking about how the Clinton campaign is finally toast are, frankly, fuckin hilarious.
