Because we aren't Republicans and don't believe in slavishly following an authority figure like y'all did with Trump. Pretty simple.

Wild that he's just realizing that the Democratic party has had an open dialogue/disagreement on this topic for a while.

It's almost as if catering to demographics besides racist white people invariably entail differences in opinion. Rofl.

Well remember, minutes ago, he tried to make a stink about getting an opinion about Biden's speech, from people who watched Biden's speech. Trump supporters actively work on lack of information. The idea of an informed decision might physically cause them pain, you know, "the truth hurts"?

Good stuff.

Ah, I see why some are coming here to hyperventilate about the minor mistake Biden made while delivering his speech. It was on Fox News last night and Jesse Watters and Josh Hawley apparently had a grand old time blowing it way outta proportion.

Always gotta wait on those talking points!

You can always tell when a new script is delivered from Fox and OAN when multiple Russia supporters- I mean red hats start spouting the same shit out of nowhere.

He's lost a step since his Senate years. I don't really know why people are blaming a stutter. He never "stuttered" like this in the past. Not during the Clarence Thomas hearings or Robert Bork hearings.

So why call it a stutter? I'm guessing it has something to do with taking a strong stance against right-wing figures that will go whole-hog on calling Biden decrepit and suffering from dementia. There's some kind of political opinion game theory on never yielding an inch, lest your opponent take a mile.

    Because that's what it is.

The most parsimonious explanation here isn't some "preemptive stance against claims of dementia" - it's that you don't know how stuttering works.

On why you may not have noticed Biden’s stutter:

A common misconception is that stuttering is obvious when it occurs. However, many instances of stuttering go unnoticed: Speech interruptions can be subtle and imperceptible to listeners, and may not look like “obvious” stuttering, especially to non-expert observers. Speakers who stutter may also try to minimize or avoid overt stuttering moments, due to a history of negative reactions from their listeners. Many people who stutter experience a lifetime of being laughed at, mimicked, and bullied.

In an attempt to head off these negative reactions, speakers may stop speaking before stuttering becomes noticeable, or they may change words or say “uh” or “um” if they know they are about to overtly stutter. All of these attempts to avoid or conceal stuttering—which can become an integral part of the moment of stuttering itself—come at a cost.

For example, during a recent Town Hall, Biden avoided saying President Obama’s name to prevent his stuttering from coming to the surface (i.e., he stuttered on “Obama,” stopped himself before it became noticeable, and said, “My boss” instead). What many perceived as Biden “forgetting” Obama’s name was actually Biden’s attempt to get through stuttering as quickly and comfortably as he could in that moment. Biden was subsequently mocked and ridiculed in the media.

Trump's SotU's weren't insidious garbage because he misspoke all the time (which he did), they were insidious garbage because they were comprised of 90% overt lies. I'll take Biden's, stutter or otherwise.

Are you new to this world? point me a political speech that doesn't have filler in it especially state of the union addresses so that's a weird criticism. About the democratic party of course there are divisions always have been because democrats have differences of opinion as long as I can remember. Republicans are good Neo Nazi soldiers who talk big but just follow their orders.

Not to mention that if you want to talk about a fractured party, it's not Dems censuring their own members for wrongthink at the moment.

Above and beyond Elegiac pointing out you have no idea what a stutter even looks like, there's also the fact that just swapping an incorrect word into a sentence accidentally on occasion is a totally normal thing to do. Insisting it makes him look "decrepit" of that he's "suffering from dementia" is just intentional, dishonest slander, to push a political agenda. There's no way you legitimately believe this shit, and bringing it up repeatedly just underscores that your goal here is to push disinfo to muddy the conversation.

This is worth repeating if you supported Donald Trump for 4 years and still do, you are the last person on earth to have concerns about old age or dementia. You can pick any of Trump's speech and wonder why that man isn't in a nut house..

'cause this, like everything else, is projection. And they don't have two brain cells required to even realize that's all they are capable of.

I'd love to see these posters giving hour-long presentations where they have to speak the whole time. Then we could question their cognitive abilities should they make more than one or two minor verbal mistakes. THEY'LL BE WORSE GONE THAN EVEN DEMENTIA BIDEN!

Seriously, the bad faith criticisms are absolutely hilarious. Note the lack of attacks/criticisms on substance, which is far more important, it was purely on a minor verbal misstep from a guy with a stutter.

And bonus points for none of them apparently ever having a friend/family with a stutter and having literally no idea what the heck a stutter is.

I'd say Biden absolutely earns higher marks than even media are giving him for his SOTU based off these pathetic criticisms. And I didn't even watch the damned thing.

at least the word that was swapped out was an actual real word. We had a president before that would instead just make up words and then for weeks his supporters would have to "what he meant was..." over and over and over.
    Buh Byeeeeeeeeeeee !!

Getting pretty tired of the dementia accusations being thrown around. It's been done for every single president in current history and will most certainly be done for future ones as long as we keep electing old people.

And the one who actually had it, is now some sort of religious figure.
