Well, it passed. I have to admit, Biden and dems got more done in two years than I expected with a 50/50 senate. Dems aren't perfect, but there couldn't be a better contrast between the two parties right now.

I honestly have a difficult time understanding how any rational, sane person could keep voting for republicans given what we've witnessed the past several years.

GOP mouthpieces are scrambling to write up talking points for how this legislation is terrible for America and a further slide towards radical leftist socialism to distribute to their watchers to ensure they don't actually know what any of this legislation does or how it benefits them and the country.

In a few days we'll see the usual suspect conservative posters come in with said talking points to hit-and-run shitpost before they go back into hiding.

already things like the insulin cap would have caused massive shortages, even though there are no shortages in places like canada, uk and the whole EU that have controls in place.

That's exactly what I'm seeing on social media from my right-wing "friends" as soon as this bill passed. The main thing I've seen is the bigger IRS supposedly coming after poorer Americans for not paying their taxes, and "230 economists" saying that this bill doesn't actually reduce inflation.

...so... "people who broke the law will be punished for breaking the law!"

and "230 economists" saying that this bill doesn't actually reduce inflation.
And when the hell have they ever listened to economists in the past?

I am looking for it, and the only people saying it are right wing morons. And I can't find the letter anywhere. But I read the one with the economists agreeing with Democrats.

Like literally, it is Fox News, HYGO "news" on Youtube, Heritage Foundation, Wing Nut Daily, and crypto morons.

Shocking. Media is moving the Vibes from "blame congress" to actually blaming Republicans.

It's like they having second thoughts about betting big on the GOP for 2022.

Republicans don't care about them, and they won't have to.
The voters most angered by this, who are most affected by this, probably won't be able to legally vote.
Their listed cause of death being DKA.
Years later they'll have their vote cast for Trump.

I prefer Policy over Vibes, so I dont really get the whole Dark BRandon thing.
But I love the irony of how much the Dark Brandon meme has gotten under the skin of Maga and Cosplay Socialists who made "Don't Look Up".

I'm not sure. I'm only vaguely aware of the dark brandon memes or whatever, it seems like a very online way of combatting the semi-online "let's go brandon" stuff and co-opting it. Seems to be fighting dumb trolling with more dumb trolling and if it's effective for the target audience, sure. But I can't say I've seen any dark brandon memes that are actually funny, yet.

basically 4chan had some dark brandon fashy memes and there are 3 camps :

4channers getting mad there memes are being posted by normies
terror experts who are like : hmm is this bad
and libs who are just posting meme's with no idea where they are from or what the context is

for example https://twitter.com/AndrewJBates46/s...51566957346816 is bidens Deputy Press Secretary who is just posting memes oblivious that they are from 4chan and have the Reich Eagle in the background.

Effin lol, the wheel of time once more completes its turn.

Not quite so interested in the arguments over vague eagle shapes and all, but given the 4chin sourcing it's probably best of official White House staff. Andrew is like...34 though? He doesn't have the excuse that he's an out-of-touch boomer, he's the prime demographic for knowing about 4chin stupidity.

    Because I was on Fox for...other news - https://www.foxnews.com/media/politi...e-achievements

Apparently Fox is upset that Politico took a break from running sensationalist headlines and actually noticed that Biden and Democrats seem to have actually gotten quite a lot done over the past few years, even if the White House won't struggles to communicate this externally.

While we can all agree that we're all disappointed for different reasons, and that a lot of what got passed like the recent IRA (no, not that IRA...or that IRA) didn't go remotely as far enough as it needed to, that all the same it's nice seeing things get done and the US slowly taking a few steps forward again! There's actually a list of legislative achievements to run on for the midterms! Bills that have done meaningful good and stand poised to do more meaningful good!

Compared to...I believe the biggest and only real legislative win Republicans had going in 2018 was...the 2017 tax cut which, as a reminder, is still a historically unpopular tax cut which is quite an achievement in itself.

Again, disappointments and frustration aside, this has largely been a net-positive past two years under Democratic control, even as global factors like inflation has made it a bumpy road.

Which, as a reminder, nobody is talking about gas prises anymore. Thanks, Brandon.

    https://thehill.com/policy/healthcar...op-blocked-it/

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Monday night that he is going to bring a $35 cap on patients’ insulin costs back up for a vote this fall after Republicans blocked it over the weekend.

“They blocked a $35 price for insulin for non-Medicare people,” Schumer said on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show.” “We’re going to come back and make them vote on that again.”
Now I assume, since the Republican opposition was on procedural grounds rather than substantive/policy differences, that Republicans will be happy to support a "clean" bill capping the price of insulin at levels that won't cause people to die because they're forced to ration their supply or take insulin for animals.

I hope he does it as a straight up bill with nothing else, get every Republican on record - again - voting for/against it, and this time with no excuses of, "But we didn't like this OTHER thing."

And then remind voters in many battleground states which members of Congress supported a law to keep a common, life-saving drug that's cheap to produce, affordable, and which members of Congress decided that pharmaceutical profits are more important than peoples lives.

Well, given that they're explaining the nuances of why they blocked it... Oh, wait, nevermind. They're actually just straight-up lying about it:

    No one will remember after Sunday. A sympathetic Chuck Todd will rehabilitate his fellow Chuck on Meet The Press. He will lob the senator some nice softball answers questions;
    • How much wood, can two Chucks chuck?
    • Which is the dumbest Chuck of them all?
    • HOw's the fried corn at this year's state fair? How 'bout them fried Oreos? Chuck Todd will ask about all of the causes of diabetes in Iowa, without asking once about insulin.
    • Is congress helping Real Americans in rural Iowa.
    • How is Mistah Trump doing?
