Are we really not going to talk about this? This story is days old, I figured somebody would have posted something about this. Not even some kind of shady conspiracy site source, this is NBC News highlighting the implications of this story that was first reported in the WSJ. Biden asking the Saudi’s to delay oil production cut until after the US midterm and then threatening ‘consequences’ in a later interview after the cuts were announced.

I mean that’s virtually the same scenario that got Trump impeached the first go round.
They’ll always claim this was done to lessen impact of high fuel prices, not conduct foreign policy pressure to boost political outcomes in the midterms. Same goes to Democratic congressmen seeking to withhold arms sales unless OPEC increases production. Party leadership has enough plausible deniability in any case. For actual impeachments of the kind Trump suffered over a phone call, wait until Republicans regain the House.

It's literally nothing like that scenario at all and conservatives desperately and pathetically pushing this angle really are sad.

The biggest complaint is, "Biden tried to keep gas prices lower for a bit longer to save Americans some money." which like, oh heavens be what a fuckin asshole.

You mean threatening to hold Congressionally mandated aid to a foreign country unless that country publicly investigated a political rival? That phone call?

Or are we lying about this one, too?

That's as dishonest a framing as claiming that the Uvalde shooter was only being prosecuted for "exerting his 5th Amendment rights".

Trump wasn't impeached for a phone call. He was impeached for what he tried to use that phone call to do.

Mr Biden you are so based

The sanctions require any U.S. citizen working in the Chinese semi industry to quit their jobs, or be at risk of losing U.S. citizenship.

Did we talk about it when Trump did the same fucking thing? It means absolutely nothing. And no, it isn't the same fucking thing Trump got impeached for when he denied funding to Ukraine that Congress had already allocated, there is no money changing hands here.

Trump tried to blackmail Ukraine to give him dirt on Joe Biden that wasn't fucking there. Congress allocated some $400 million to Ukraine for weapons to use against Russia, and Trump withheld it, which he cannot do, it is specifically against the constitution as extortion and the separation of powers from Executive to Legislative branch.

Describe, in detail, the sequence of events that occurred in both these scenarios.

Then, review your work to see whether they're actually the same or not.

We'll let you know if you missed anything, champ.

Trump absolutely did not do the same thing in any way, shape, or form. Biden made a request, one that arguably would help his party politically in the upcoming elections, but a request that would have benefitted everyone in America who pays for gas.

That's it. There was no Congressionally mandated aid that he was holding hostage until Saudi Arabia announced a public investigation into his political rival about a mostly made-up story that literally would have only benefitted his electoral efforts.

Don't even hint at the two being remotely equitable in terms of what was done. What Biden did was routine and inoffensive. What Trump did was not.

Oh shit, this thread made me realize I should be in jail for committing the same offense as Jeffrey Dahmer. I once ate a burger in Milwaukee and that's "virtually" the same scenario.

Wow, what you said is completely moronic. "Just a phone call" is one hell of a way to boil down fucking blackmail to force a country to help a president against a political opponent. We can practically see the red hat on you right now, go shill somewhere else.

Does the troll really think that serious crimes can't be committed over the phone? Fascinating.

"Democrats are trying to do things to help people, that's election interference!"

Dumbest take I've seen on this forum in quite some time.

Could just remind him of how Trump allowed a US Journalist to be killed and dismembered in exchange for cheap gas and a gun purchase.

Also, not sure where else to put this but something worth bringing up if it hasn't already.

Some Republicans are talking about if they take the house back trying to exploit the debt ceiling to get Medicare and Social Security reclassified from mandatory to discretionary so that it has to be reauthorized every year which opens up the options for them to exploit that for further concessions and slowly start cutting it and eventually just not reauthorize it if they can.

    https://about.bgov.com/news/entitlem...bt-limit-deal/

Would hope they wouldn't be fucked up enough to damage the entire nation and hold it hostage but we already seen them do exactly that multiple times with their shut downs and how much they have tried to protect terrorists who openly attacked the nation.

"We want to ratfuck social services while blaming the other party for it, because we know how deeply unpopular our parties policy of ratfucking social services actually is."

Seriously, the Republican party consistently runs a deeply unpopular platform when they're actually honest.

If they manage this, I hope Biden refuses to sign and rightfully places blame on Republicans for trying to kill seniors and the most vulnerable amongst us.

Kevin McCarthy wants to set up death panels to kill grandma!

IP theft works on, wait for it, IP. You can't steal manufacturing process.

Case in point, China could not even manufacture its own ballpoint pen tips until 2017. For decades it had to import those tiny steel balls from Japan, Switzerland and Germany.

Finally, China manufactures a ballpoint pen all by itself

It took 5 years of research.

One wonder why the country is falling further behind in the semiconductor race.

At some point, there's needs to be a serious analytical study into whether Republican voters support Republican candidates because they believe these lies, or because of a deeper allegiance to the actual policymaking of Republicans, which is all about oppression and subjugation of minorities and supporting the wealthy and corporations.

Because I'm increasingly convinced it isn't actually that all Republicans are so stupid as to fall for this shit. I think they know it's all dogwhistles and cover stories. And the rest of society needs to stop giving them any leeway to claim otherwise.

It's so fucking chickenshit to hide your agenda like this, because you can't handle honest criticism and need that thin veneer of denial.

If the GQP ever takes both the House/Senate and the White House back in the same election year, or gains control of both branches at the same time, they will fuck this country over six ways to Sunday. And since they already control SCOTUS - we'll be truly fucked for at least a generation.

This. Entirely. GQP voters are either willfully ignorant, so stupid as to fall for these continued lies, or a dangerous combination of both. Either way they are morally and politically bankrupt, in every category that matters.

The SCOTUS is working to ensure that no one listens to them for at least a generation as well with many places going to outright defy them either by overtly or indirectly refusing to obey laws that they push or turning the people more and more against the government that tries to enforce it. Just look at the animosity created by their war on drugs and multiply that.

And SCOTUS is already looking at the very real chance of being expanded in the near future as soon as the GOP base dies out enough that they can't maintain power even through gerrymandering and disenfranchising voters and the harder they push the harder the newer generations will defy them and push back.

And the businesses will know which way the wind blows and knows that following their policies will cost them unless they are government mandated monopolies, you can already see that with the abortion issues already.

Things will get worse before they get better, but they are on their way out over the next decade or two with the biggest question being if the nation survives their temper tantrum or not. The only way they hold power long term would be for them to go full Taliban killing a majority of the nation at which point it still won't work as they won't be able to rewrite history as it is no longer written by the victors but instead by the cameras that everyone has and the internet that never forgets. Something racists will have a hard time squaring against no matter how hard they try to make themselves the heroes.
