Here’s hoping more establishment Dems get primaried this next election. Buttigieg takes weeks of leave his first month on the job during a national transportation crisis and won’t pull for rail workers to get 3 days. We all knew Biden was about as milquetoast as they come, but what a strange and public L to take with the base.

President Biden increases the direct attacks against Trump.

Either (a) he saw the midterms as a binary choice between Biden and Trump and also saw that he won, and is trying to widen the gap, and/or (b) he knows how much damage Trump will do to the party that chose to make him their only leader and wants to see the civil war unfold when Trump goes for the primaries in a losing position, hopefully tearing the party in half.

Or (c) he knows Trump is a thin-skinned little bitch and trolling him is hilarious.

So the agreement will be passed into law before the end of the day but the sick leave part won't even make it past the House.......fucking hell.....

Biden is actively and publicly pushing for Congress to avert the strike. I'm not sure this situation can be used as a negative towards Biden.

I hope they play that a lot, that's just so damning for Joe. No way he can survive being painted as a loving, caring father. Oh the horror.
Trump, Don Jr and Eric are just jealous that a father would love their son and be supportive of him. They can't even comprehend that as none have ever had it.

Honestly, it will be a negative because he is basically trying to be a strike breaker and force a contract onto them that they didn't agree to. The union leadership supposedly did but the union itself voted nearly unanimously against it.

All over the amount of sick days they will get.

Reread Nancy's second and third bullet points.

It's been a whole 3 months since Biden and Nancy did a similar rope-a-dope on the GOP. Remember when they tricked the GOP into passing the CHIPs act, then went ahead and passed the skinny BBB.

Looks like Biden initial comment baited reactions in both houses. If they can get 60 votes on it by making it look like the GOP are dicking Biden, it's a win.
If they don't get 60 votes on it they can say it's the Republicans' fault, that Congress fought for a better deal, and the GOP lied.

A year ago you were calling Biden "pure evil" for not giving money to the Taliban. Your clown act takes some wild swings.

You can't in good faith say these two opposing statements. If she was really for the unions the sick leave would be in the same vote as the agreement, not separate. The reason why it isn't is because she knows it won't pass if it was. Like I said, the agreement will be signed by Biden by the end of the day and the sick leave won't make it past the House.

yea its bad to melt a central bank down and have people selling their organs to get food. drip feeding it now to pay power bills (not the point of the central bank) is even worse in the long term. Biden was dogshit on afghan, still is.

Being suckered twice with the just vote for this part and we will vote through the other part later again. rubesville.

This is a different story. Biden's been a well-known union backer damn near since birth. Unions aren't happy with his stance. Thing is, Biden's mostly a cheerleader in this. The Railway Labor Act gives Congress authority, not the President. So he's hurting his stance with his base, ouch, but he is taking as active a role as he's allowed.

He’s the most powerful man in the world, his messaging on this is important.

So far, his messaging has been that your rights end where the greater national interest begins, decided by your boss. He would have been a great pro-slavery advocate during the Gilded Age.

Awww look, Nancy had the votes!

It's like we have four fucking years of examples of Nancy counting her votes ahead of time. Sorry, if you were the base, you would have known.

And the usual suspects ignore the facts.... ignoring facts isnt just for Conservatives. It also underpins much of the doomerists, "Q-Anon types ... but from the lEfT!"
It's all from the same conspiracy-poisoned well of reactionary dipshits.

Gonna have to resist the urge to drag Cosplay Socialists who are butthurt about Hakeem Jeffries being elected minority leader. Gonna be some overtime this week

A week is better than one day... or is it on top of the one day? Eight days isn't fifteen, but it's a hell of a lot better than zero...

The trick is how are we able to take it? What are the stipulations? Do we have to give X amount of hours notice? Can we only take X amount of days a quarter? Can it be turned down at the management's discretion? Are there any downsides to taking the time off? These are the kind of things that should have been hammered out during negotiations.

It is worth noting that slightly more Republicans voted for "paid sick days" than "avert the strike". This suggests it'll get 51 but not 60 votes.

Sadly, the election is over, and even if, say, a Republican filibusters and effectively personally creates a strike of cargo lines on Christmas fucking Eve, they won't suffer any effects for 2 to 6 years.

I still think the Senate Republicans will vote for the agreement but not the sick leave. No one wants the blame for shutting down the country's economy. The government? Republicans will happily shut it down but the economy not so much. And shifting the blame to the railroad workers is a shaky gamble at best.
