Hi there! Just curious as to what things conservatives have proposed to address school shootings in the wake of this and other shootings. Because clearly you're so outraged at the lack of proper response to yet another heinous mass shooting in America, right?

Because otherwise you'd really just be posting this stinted blurb as a hypocritical busybody desperately seeking to score political points in the wake of a tragedy that your political side is committed to ignoring, wouldn't you?

    Hmmm...

I await your next hit-and-run pointless post when some other Biden nontroversy pops up in a month or two. I'm surprised you didn't parrot the top conservative mouthpiece's comments on Biden letting people wear "improper shoes" in the oval office that they were recently losing their minds about.

They proposed more guns and hardening targets, turning schools into prisons, and don't forget the fucking armed officers at schools, even though it didn't matter for Parkland or Uvalde.

So the classic "do nothing about the problem" approach.

Strange how that just hasn't seemed to work yet.

I know the answer to this. They asked a GOP rep in Tennessee today. His answers, not in order, were:

    1- Homeschool

    2- Nothing

So you're saying he's doing better than Republicans that are addressing it?

Homeschool is the way of things. What's the worst that can happen?

Hey wasn't Trump on Hannity later that same day? What did Trump say about the shooting?

Or, what did he say on his own social media platform, which he owns?

Also, shame on you for posting the first 20 seconds and claiming he didn't talk about the shooting. Shame. This is the official transcript of what he said in that video, and the rest of his address.

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you. My name is Joe Biden. (Laughter.) I’m Dr. Jill Biden’s husband. (Laughter.) And I eat Jeni’s Ice Cream, chocolate chip. (Laughter.) I came down because I heard there was chocolate chip ice cream. (Laughter.)

By the way, I have a whole refrigerator full upstairs. (Laughter.) You think I’m kidding, I’m not.

    Ben, how are you, pal?

    SENATOR CARDIN: Well.

THE PRESIDENT: One of the best guys in the United States Congress, Ben Cardin. (Applause.)

Folks, welcome to the White House.

    AUDIENCE: Thank you.

THE PRESIDENT: And it’s a delight to have you all here. And who are those good-looking kids back here? (Laughter.)

MS. BLAKELY: Those are my kids.

THE PRESIDENT: They’re your kids? All four of them?

    MS. BLAKELY: Yes.

THE PRESIDENT: Well, stand up, guys. (Laughter and applause.)

Well, I want you to know, like you, I had two brothers — there were three in our family, three brothers, and one sister. And my sister is smarter than all of us. (Laughter.) Not a joke.

She used to be three years younger than me; now she’s 23 years younger than me. (Laughter.) You know, she managed every one of my campaigns for office, even back when I was in high school. We went to the same university two years apart. She graduated with honors; I graduated. (Laughter.) And we had a simple rule in the family: Listen to Val. (Laughter.) My sister, Valerie, is incredible.

So, guys, be nice to your sister. You’re going to need her. (Laughter.) You’re going to need her. I promise.

It’s the same lineup. You’re the oldest? Who’s number two? Number two? Who’s number three?

    AUDIENCE MEMBER: It’s both.

THE PRESIDENT: You’re twins? Are you guys twins?

AUDIENCE MEMBER: No, we’re not twins. (Laughter.)

THE PRESIDENT: Okay. All right. Just how — just how it was in our outfit. Well, I’m so glad to see you all, and thanks for coming with mom. Okay?

You got to take care of your mom. Dads are much harder to raise. But, you know, we’re — (laughter) —

Before I begin to speak, and the reason I spent a little time on the kids, I — I just want to speak very briefly about the school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee.

You know, Ben and I have been doing this our whole careers, it seems. And it’s just — it’s sick. You know, we’re still gathering the facts of what happened and why. And we do know that, as of now, there are a number of people who are not going to — did not make it, including children.

    And it’s heartbreaking. A family’s worst nightmare.

And I want to commend the police who repo- — responded incredibly swiftly — within minutes — to end the danger.

We’re monitoring the situation really closely — Ben, as you know — and we have to do more to stop gun violence. It’s ripping our communities apart, ripping the soul of this nation — ripping at the very soul of the nation. And we — we have to do more to protect our schools so they aren’t turned into prisons.

You know, the shooter in this situation reportedly had two assault weapons and a pistol — two AK-47. So I call on Congress, again, to pass my assault weapons ban. It’s about time that we begin to make some more progress.

But there’s more to learn. But I just wanted to send my concern and hearts out to so many parents out there. I’ve been to so many of these sites, as Ben knows, by — virtually every one.

And one of the things you folks should — I know you do know, but you should focus on — you know, just like when — in the military — when my son was in Iraq for a year, other places, you — there’s so many members of the military coming back with post-traumatic stress after witnessing the violence and participating in it.

Well, these children, these teachers, they should be — should be focusing on their mental health, as well.

And so I’m grateful — anyway, sorry to start off that way, but I couldn’t begin without acknowledging what happened. And now I’m grateful that all of you are joining us here today.
You said "instead". You are claiming he didn't address the school shooting. He did, it was the very next topic he brought up.

    How fucking dare you.

You liar. You either lied by accident, in which case apologize, or you lied on purpose, in which case you're a troll.

At least he's honest, eh? I mean, I can give him that much. I'd rather people be open and explicit about their cruel, selfish nature and tell us to our faces they're not going to help us, rather than hem and haw and pretend that there's no possible way to help us with our bad situation.

Conservatives don't give one sloppy wet shit about school shootings, so no one is going to take your handwringing over this seriously. Sorry.

It was 100% intentional. The clip was only 21 seconds long. Why would the President give a 21 second speech? It also ignores the YEARS AND FUCKING YEARS OF DEMOCRATS TRYING TO ENACT TOUGHER GUN LAWS ONLY TO BE BLOCKED BY CONSERVATIVES!! Like what in the actual fuck? That's the behavior of a psychopath, right? Completely devoid of any sort of empathy or guilt?

    Nashville, Tennessee shooting response
Following Monday’s shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, tensions ran high among state lawmakers meeting across town in the state Capitol. Democrats called for action on gun control — and got their microphones cut off by Republican leadership for criticizing their GOP colleagues’ love of the Second Amendment.

“Prayers are good, but faith without works is dead,” Democratic state Sen. Raumesh Akbari implored with a biblical reference. “Let’s not let another preventable tragedy unfold without this legislature taking real action.”

Any action from Republican lawmakers, however, is more likely to move in a different direction. Republicans this year have introduced bills that would make it easier to arm teachers and allow college students to carry weapons on campus.

On the same day as the Nashville shooting, a federal judge approved a legal settlement lowering the minimum age to carry handguns without a permit in Tennessee from 21 to 18. That came just two years after a new law set the age at 21.
I genuinely hope they are a bot, but America wouldn't be in the shit state it is now if it were just as simple as that.

Arming the teachers would be the dumbest thing they could do.

-How many kids do you think will go for that gun that they know a good portion of the teachers have in easy access to them?
--Lets assume they managed to prevent the kids from being able to get them.

-How many teachers have you ever seen have a pure mental breakdown in the middle of class from kids messing around? You want them armed in that state?
--Lets assume they managed to keep the teachers from losing their crap and we don't have stories of teachers hitting or yelling escalating to worse.

-How many of those teachers would be willing to shoot another person without hesitating at which point they are really just more guns and ammo for the attacker?
--Lets assume they all are willing to shoot when the time comes.

-How many of them will be trained and proficient in using their gun and have a good enough shot they aren't likely to miss and hit another student themselves?
--Lets assume the teachers are actually put through class and target practice as part of the school funding (Not getting into how the school could afford that funding)

-How many teachers do you think will be willing get armed and trained and be willing to deal with children who can't listen, keep their guns safe from 1,000+ kids with HUNDREDS of them trying to get to any of their guns they can, be willing to shoot and kill an attacker and all that on a teachers salary?
--Yeah, there isn't any way to assume this one would resolve without some major restructuring in how schools work and how much teachers are paid and trained.

To be fair, it's got close competition with "don't teach the parts of US history where slavery was bad" and "gays don't exist".

Yeah, true. Sad thing is I feel bad for my nieces, their dad let them drop out of school and go to "Online Only" classes where they can cheat their way through it all and he doesn't really care about what they know so long as they have the paperwork to pretend they do. Man also tried to claim he was scared his kids would be shot in school by a BLM supporter and a host of other messed up delusions.

I honestly think that any employer worth crap, will not give online degrees any weight in the near future because you won't be able to tell if they used google or brainly to cheat or got someone else to do their work for them. Of course this is also in Florida so even if they graduated from school, it would still be from Florida's education system which is doing their best to NOT be educational.

No you see if you just don't think about any of that because that's their problem it's actually really easy and simple.

Genuinely that's the only way I can approach people unironically suggesting this kind of thing. Which ignores that massive new responsibility and burden placed on teachers that are already paid shit.

And also ignores that schools generally need to have liability insurance and I'm fairly certain that insurance companies would either not issue a policy to schools where every faculty member was armed, or that the premiums alone would bankrupt the school districts rather quickly.

They tried this shit here in Texas, guess what, teachers didn't want the stress of carrying in school. Like most things involving this dumb Constitutional carry BS, it's actually wildly unpopular.

Today in Biden's role as President: he was not indicted for anything.

I think Texas passed that "dumb Constitutional carry BS," so is now part of the 26 or 27 states with constitutional carry as law. I haven't heard it being repealed.

As for whether "teachers didn't want the stress of carrying in school," I have read that it's up to the school district and according to some sources, something like 280/1022 or just under a third have done it. So some teachers don't mind the stress, even if the majority presumably don't for one reason or another.

Oh look, many districts require teachers to pass an accuracy test, a practical course, and numerous other measures before a teacher can carry in a school. Man, if only these rules were universal to all gun owners!
