Yeah, the issue is the average voter is already that age or older and they don’t want to hear that while those younger than retirement can’t seem to get off their asses no matter what’s on the line.

You got some links for the TYT/Greenwald shit? Some of it seems pretty fun but I don't have it in me to sift through the garbage to find the salient info.

Color me surprised the younger progressives are doing really pointless, dumb shit though. Again. For literally no reason. I'd hoped that they'd start learning by now.

I feel like Gen Xers are just really jaded and have accepted the status quo, and are unlikely to ever do anything to change things. I could be wrong, but the Gen Xers I've met seem very "libertarian" about a lot of things.

Sad thing is, I can get the mindset. I personally didn't vote till Bernie Sanders was running because I didn't see anything worth voting for and only differing levels of stuff worth voting against and I didn't like the choices. Still kinda feel that way.

But the more you look, the more you see the main problem is the shit coming from the Republican party and the main reason why the Democrats are generally not worth crap is precisely because they can't get much power to do much and even if they did, the main ones that make it out of the primaries aren't that great either because an uncast ballot is worthless.

So, if you want a worth while candidate in the general, vote for them in the primary, otherwise the average voting age is well into retirement and you will be getting the options they want.

If you want a government to not screw you and your kids, you have to vote in the general as well otherwise you will be getting whomever the same voting block goes for. And you are quite literally letting a group of people who don't know how the world works anymore and couldn't even program their VCRs for the entire lifetime of the media deciding your future.

I'm Gen X. Gen X is basically a non-generation. You can pretty safely slot most older Gen X types into the Boomer generation in terms of ideology, and the later Gen Xers (like myself) in with elder Millenials. If you're trying to separate by outlook, at least. We're the "bridge generation" between those who grew up before the digital age, and those who grew up immersed in it, having grown up through that change-over; my early youth was spent wandering in the woods out back of my house and chucking balls and still remember my mom assembling her Apple IIe she bought when it came out, when PCs in the home were wildly unusual, and my high school/early college days had full Internet and everyone had cell phones or pagers and starting to play online games like MUDs and the like

    It's a weird mini-generation.

    This 100%.

When I first started voting as a young teen. I voted Republican. My parents and grandparents told me I needed to vote and I voted Republican, like them. I didn't really look into the issues and problems.

    Then the crash happened.

At the time I was working for my school district and I got laid off in the summer like normal but could not, for the life of me, find a job.

This gave me plenty of time to start looking into politics / issues. Obama was running his first term and I've voted for Democrats since.

There is not a single policy idea, that when I look into the nitty gritty, that I support from the Republicans.

The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped form our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest.

We've been lied to by people in charge for decades.
First we were told about the Tooth Fairy, Santa, the Easter Bunny.
As we grew, we were then told sex is bad and you'll die of herpegonnasyphilaids.
Then we were told by teachers/parents if you get a college degree, you're guaranteed a career in a company until you retire.
As young adults, we were told to bootstrap ourselves after Boomers fucked things up, we need to get married, have kids, and it'll be fine in the suburbs.
The latchkey kids are used to things being kinda shit, being lied to by people in charge, and realizing we probably will have to wait for our parents generation to die to change shit.
Some go full Libertarian, no rules, no kings, no gods.

Most of us just hope we can get/keep medical insurance for antidepressants and anxiolytics.

People dragging Gen X about to FAFO.

Also, it looks like Liberals won custody of Bud Light in the Great National Divorce. Yay, nothing goes better with some taco truck tacos or outrageously spicy thai food.

Nuisance today with Biden's visit, road blocks everywhere with his change of route... loads of people were 1-2+ hours late for work.

On the contrary, everything goes better with taco truck tacos or outragouesly spicy Thai food. That's nothing to do with Pride labels or transgender spokesmen, though, and everything to do with Bud Light being piss water.

I'm still lamenting the lack of taco trucks on every corner as Republicans had promised. At least I've got a good little spot downtown, but I wanted something more convenient.

What do American beer and sex in a canoe have in common?
Both are fucking close to water.

SCOTUS refuses to hear a challenge to a major student debt relief.

The settlement is the result of a class-action suit from nearly 200,000 borrowers against the Department of Education in 2019, which accused schools of boosting enrollment through misleading advertisements and exaggerating the quality of their education and future job prospects.

After years of litigation, the settlement was reached last year, but three institutions appealed the agreement to the Supreme Court, saying their inclusion was a “scarlet letter” and severely damaged their reputations.
Without DeVos in the way, justice can finally proceed.

A quick note, no, this is not the more recent case Biden's taken public. This case does in fact involve DeVos professionally and personally.

I really, really hope this is a good sign regarding the more recent Biden case. And not just because I, personally, will be getting paid back the thousands of dollars I paid into my fed loans during the pandemic (and the last little bit paid off), but because millions and millions of other people will also be getting money back and freed from remaining debt.

But yes, I also really need that money. God damn.

I mean, just the juxtaposition of the oldest US president in history old-man walking out to basically a WWE intro to a cheering crowd of people in another country is so hilarious to me. Like, this has to be the continuation of some intergalactic reality TV show and now we're getting to the "unintentionally funny" bits.

Well, just to be fair and balanced:

FOX News yells "Hatch Act!" into the microphone for the next four hours trying to distract from the L in 787-point font they just got handed.

Apparently some Biden employee endorsed a candidate in 2022's election cycle. And no, you're not allowed to do that.

Wake me when Team Trump suffers a single penalty for their Hatch Act violations, many of which involved advertising their own product for money. Until I see FOX News outrage about that, which it's been years and we haven't, their outrage at this will be treated as false and deflection material.

Not defending....what was his name...Xavier Bacerra, but again, FOX News has zero right to the moral high ground here. Posting the article actually shames them more than it helps them.
