The great ship "America" is sinking. Democrats are desperately trying to plug the holes in the hull, at the same time Republicans are trying to make the engines explode. The privileged dorks are sipping drinks by the pool, insisting they're not in any danger and can't be arsed to help fill any holes in; who said it's their job to lift a finger? They already told the crewmembers rushing by that they needed a refresh on their drinks and the ship should be turned to better catch the sun, and the crew are just too busy patching these "holes" they're worried about to do the bare minimum for their comforts!

You can't motivate those people. They'll continue to be politically indolent until the water's lapping at their own heels, and by then it'll be far too late to make any difference. Their attitudes are indefensible; an expression of rank privilege and a denial of their basic civic duties. It's strong Karen energy, and deserves the same condescension.

Trump isn't some kind of anomaly he is the republican party even after he is gone they will continue to follow his template.
I doubt that the Democrat party is going to learn its lesson when they decide to push for a specific canidate. H Clinton was even a worse campaigner and instead of looking inwards the party and a great chunk of the voters (those that carry Bidens water now) spend more time blaming everyone else.

Cool, Hunter lied about his drug use to buy a gun and is convicted of it.

It'll sure be nice not seeing a POTUS crying about justice for a chance.

In a sweeping change that could improve millions of Americans’ ability to own a home or buy a car, the Biden administration will propose a rule Tuesday to ban medical debt from credit reports.

The rule, which will be announced by Vice President Kamala Harris and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Rohit Chopra, comes as President Joe Biden beefs up his efforts to convince Americans his administration is lowering costs, a chief concern for voters in the upcoming election.

The rule, which has been in the works since September, could go into effect sometime next year, Chopra told ABC News in an exclusive interview ahead of the policy announcement.
In the words of Joseph Robinette Biden

When this rolls out, this will be pretty big for many people. A LOT of Americans carry around medical debt that fucks their credit scores hard, and this will help a great many of them out.

Biden, still quietly doing good, meaningful, boring work that has hugely positive impacts on everyday Americans.

He did break laws though, as the conviction shows. Biden is throwing nobody to the wolves, he's letting his son face the consequences of his actions and supporting him throughout his struggles as any parent would.

/r/conservative is hilarious because they genuinely seem incapable of fathoming or conceiving that Joe might not pardon his son, as he said he wouldn't.

I'm defo not voting for Hunter Biden this November.

And shouldn’t conservatives be up in arms about Hunter being persecuted for owning gun, as they so often claim the second amendment allows him with no restrictions?

Why yes, that's one of the many reasons that Republican lawmakers have suddenly stopped talking about Hunter Biden.

So their crusade to persecute Hunter Biden for something, anything… they can’t even gloat about because the law he broke is something they think shouldn’t be illegal?

And for any of the drive-by conservative shitposters, I don’t believe democrats ever supported the ability for people to pay and lie about hundred-thousand dollar hush money payments to cover up adulterous liaisons with hookers, so any claims of “liberal prosecution hypocrisy” really don’t apply vis-a-vis Trump.

Well, it puts them in the difficult position of arguing against extremist Second Amendment viewpoints.

And also makes it harder to argue that Biden's DOJ is being weaponized against his opponents when "Biden's DOJ" is also prosecuting (well, prosecuted successfully) his son.

Suddenly Hunter Biden doesn't matter at all and he's just a sacrificial lamb and the attention conservative have been giving him for the past years was all a waste of time because he doesn't matter.

It's the Biden Crime Family that matters! The one James Comer keeps talking about! The one James Comer has spent the past year+ investigating and repeatedly asserting were criminal! The one that James Comer hasn't found a shred of evidence to support being actually a crime family!

Seriously, Republicans continue to be some of the most pathetic losers around nowadays. Just lame chucklefucks living in their own fictional reality.

They just keep making shit up, they think that they have something on Joe Biden, but 18 months of investigating since Jan 2023, they have found NOTHING.

They spend so long attacking someone that isn’t Joe Biden… and when they succeed at doing so, it’s for breaking a law they can’t really comment on because a non-negligible part of their base thinks that gun control should be forbidden anyway.

And besides, that’s only a quick invitation to note that Donald Trump has been convicted of more than 11 times the number of felonies than Hunter Biden.

Only if your name is Trump. Otherwise, they are there in the cases where people have been wrongfully convicted through circumstantial evidence and the appeals process doesn't get you anywhere.

It's plurality popular even amongst Democrats by a considerable margin. Many of us personally may be a part of that 22% opposing it, but it's not so out of step with Democratic voters as once implied, it seems.

The IRS estimates it will raise more than $50 billion over the next decade by closing a loophole often exploited by wealthy filers seeking to avoid paying taxes.

The loophole allows such taxpayers, as well as businesses, to move assets between entities in a way that authorities say has no economic purpose. Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo called the practice “really just a shell game" in a statement.

The use of such pass-through businesses has nevertheless increased 70% from 2010 to 2019, and helped allow the top 1% avoid paying $160 billion in taxes, Treasury said.

“Treasury and the IRS are focused on addressing high-end tax abuse from all angles, and the proposed rules released today will increase tax fairness and reduce the deficit,” U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen said in a statement.

The plan builds on ongoing IRS efforts to increase audits on the wealthiest taxpayers, large corporations and complex partnerships.

“These tax shelters allow wealthy taxpayers to avoid paying what they owe,” IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel told reporters on a press call Friday.
Yay for the IRS continuing to go after wealthy tax cheats!
