Actively undermined the nation’s response to a once in a lifetime pandemic and let a deadly disease spiral out of control killing hundreds of thousands, broke campaign finance laws by paying hush money to cover up an affair during the 2016 campaign. And a bipartisan committee found him guilty of orchestrating a months-long coup attempt that culminated in a violent insurrection to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power and install him as an unelected dictator, stole classified documents and obstructed attempts to get them back....

Because pardoning someone who was going to have the book thrown at them for crimes that typically don't carry long prison sentences (if any) because the GOP turned the case into a media circus that biased everyone involved and repeatedly rejected plea bargains despite the admission of guilt (even rarer in US) has fuck all to do with the criticism of how Trump used pardons.
