Bastion has me bored to tears

I love WoW. I've been playing it since I was 12 back in early TBC.

Now that that's out of the way. Is anyone else finding it a real chore to play through Bastion? It looks alright, but it's also so samey. It has barely any variation in its looks. We've also done this sort of thing before. We've purified ourselves in Pandaria...we've fought similar constructs in Mac'aree (which Bastion reminds me of) I honestly expected more from Blizzard here. I really am struggling to care about doing all these Kryian trials. It's nothing new and I know in the end it won't be important. Bastion just lacks that something special that other zones have had.

Edit: In case you feel inclined to write something like, 'People like different stuff', don't bother, you're really wasting your time. Yes, of course everything is subjective. This is my subjective opinion. It's a discussion, not an attack on your very soul. It's great that you love Bastion. I don't.

Well then, quest through and be happy with 13 variations on patchwerk constructs.

Bastion is legit one of the better zones they made. And you complain about it? Smh

I agree. It feels like one long tutorial rather than a quest zone. I spend 2 hours trying to get online today and logged out after a few hours of Bastion. It just didn't interest me at all. If that is one of the better zones, I fear for the rest.

I agree on all points. The endless boring dialogues. The completely floped dramaturgy that the scenes and NPCs want to convey to me, everything was terrible. Land of weirdos.

    Bastion sucks.

The theme is also shit. It's like fucking self doubting cult members that need to take cleansing baths every 5 minutes to something something.

    Yawn.

Most annoying part of this zone was that it forces you to go at the pace of NPC dialogue and movement. I dont think there are any other leveling zones in the game with as many escort quests.

Not a fan so far, no. Which is exactly why I won't go with them as my covenant.

The only thing proven in this thread is that different people like different things, and no matter how Blizzard does a zone, someone will bitch.

During alpha and beta reports, I thought this would be most awesome. Now I think everyone is gonna love Ardenweald.

Basically to me this boils down to the choice Blizzard made. They chose the "on rails" experiment...where after Oribos, you get dumped into Bastion. But why not let us chose what area to explore first? Maybe I want to do Revendreth first and Bastion last?

Is the only reason how the story is build? Oh yeah...my Paladin still goes Kyrian

It's not too bad. But it's true it got me bored out of my mind. In contrast, I'm having a blast in Maldraxxus. But since Bastion mostly aims to introduce you to the expansion, it wasn't entirely out of the blue.

I liked Bastion, I thought Maldraxxus was boring. It's a very subjective thing.

Yeah...it pretty much is all said at "different people like different things" and ppl take that as the point where they "strongly voice their opinion"

We had the complaint in another thread how "the maw is too much Diablo for my taste and Oribos is too much sci fi". So...what do ppl want? What is the middle ground here?

All I know is that when I was in the Maw intro, I thought what a cool zone it was. Let's see how I still like it when it is the "weekly chore" (but all in all...to keep with your initial post - I tend to keep that quote in mind: "If we gave players a hat that would grant them the perfect gameplay experience, they would still complain about the color of the hat")

Bastion was very good. It's beautiful too. But I'm totally digging Maldraxxus at this point. Amazing so far.

Same, the questing got me so bored too.

I'm loving it so far, personally. I try not to think about where or if I've seen this same thing before and try to just experience the story and zone for what it is. /shrug

Opinions and subjectivity and all that...

Can I ask, and I'm really curious here, why do you feel the need to write "Opinions and subjectivity and all that..." I know it's subjective. Everyone likes different things. Yes I'm complaining, but it's also a discussion. This forum would be pretty boring without dissenting opinions, no? I never said my opinion was fact. You write like I shouldn't have made the thread at all.

First thing I thought when I stepped in the Maw was that it was a WoW version of Coldharbour...
You're going to run into similar things, unless all you ever played was WoW.

Weeeellllll...I did play many many MANY games....but that was between 1985 and like 2007...my life kinda changed now to the point where there was only place for one game.
