New arcane mage aoe abilities?

Hello dear mages.

I really like arcane mage so far, I enjoy playing the spec in dungeons and pvp.

But I think its kinda boring to spam arcane explosion the whole time and wait for arcane orb to get off cooldown.
I was thinking what other arcane mage aoe abilities Blizzard could implement that would make the spec more interesting.

For example, the mage could open a portal to space and redirect the flow of arcane energy and concentrate it to a beam that would damage the enemies.

The beam could look like a gamma ray burst from space but more purple so it would fit the arcane fantasy:

I would prefer to have an aoe rotation like the BLM from FF XIV. Best iteration of mage ever.

I kinda prefer it the way it is right now as I feel sufficiently engaged during aoe encounters as I'm also focusing on the overarching stuff like optimal positioning, mana management and assisting with cc and interrupts (I prefer going with nova because of the extra utility it brings with group interrupts).
