Most Americans and Europeans may not be readily aware of this. After all, recent developments elsewhere have occupied their attentions, understandably so. But China and India are still currently at very serious odds. Their unresolved border dispute flared up several months ago. And it has severely affected their already complicated relationship.
China and India are Asia's two great superpowers. They have the largest population centers in the entire world, and are both major nuclear power states with massive military forces, among the most powerful in existence. They have ancient cultures, and rich histories, which have deeply influenced Western and Eastern civilization, and from most accounts, an old friendship that will probably never be revived at this point; their core interests no longer align. And yet, most economic projections have them far surpassing America and the West within several decades.
Whose side would the vast majority of Americans and Europeans pick, if they had to support either one? Whose country do you think is better, and morally superior? Who do you believe is truly correct in this border dispute? And why? While Xi is obviously a controversial figure, I have noticed that many Americans and Europeans also apparently dislike Modi, and seem lukewarm or neutral towards India's government at best.
