Post Do you and your country support China or India, if you had to choose a side?

Most Americans and Europeans may not be readily aware of this. After all, recent developments elsewhere have occupied their attentions, understandably so. But China and India are still currently at very serious odds. Their unresolved border dispute flared up several months ago. And it has severely affected their already complicated relationship.

China and India are Asia's two great superpowers. They have the largest population centers in the entire world, and are both major nuclear power states with massive military forces, among the most powerful in existence. They have ancient cultures, and rich histories, which have deeply influenced Western and Eastern civilization, and from most accounts, an old friendship that will probably never be revived at this point; their core interests no longer align. And yet, most economic projections have them far surpassing America and the West within several decades.

Whose side would the vast majority of Americans and Europeans pick, if they had to support either one? Whose country do you think is better, and morally superior? Who do you believe is truly correct in this border dispute? And why? While Xi is obviously a controversial figure, I have noticed that many Americans and Europeans also apparently dislike Modi, and seem lukewarm or neutral towards India's government at best.

    I'm Switzerland...

As long as the Himalayas are stuck between them, no need to choose. I mean traditionally they're both enemies, but when Pakistan popped, India forgot about China. And Chinese leaders got their feelings hurt and so tend to move troops into areas that remind India that they're still here.

The Indian government is less coercive than the CCP so ultimately I would side with India for that reason.

Excluding the state and governance I would say India annoys me more because it's too religious and it seems like it is more sexist than the average country. I have not been there in person but on YouTube I've watched about 12 hours of people exploring various Indian towns and interacting with everyday Indian people and I always got the feeling like half the population(the women) have almost no agency even though it seems like they work harder than the men.

Both have pretty much horrible governments... So neither.

One is an ethno nationalist oligarchical corpotocracy (China) that holds millions of Muslims in concentration camps.

The other (India) is becoming a theocratic nationalist dictatorship with elements of a cast system, incredibly violent forms of sexism and religious segregationalism, which holds millions of Muslims in an open air concentration camp (Kashmir).

    How about neither?

I don't like any of them, but if i had to choose i would suport china, because they didn't use strenght to take macau from Portugal, but india used strenght to take Goa from us, so, china.

As an Indian-American (but not Hindu, and vehemently opposed to Modi), I have to hope that India is the obvious answer here, and that Modi is a temporary nationalist blip in the history of the world's largest democracy that was pretty damn socialist post-Independence (in 1947), til about the 90s. India's last PM before Modi was Mahomman Singh, an economist and academic who kickstarted India's economic boom through the early 2000s.....and is, of course, a Sikh. Not only a Sikh, but a Sikh who had a Muslim President serving under him, and a Christian party leader.

But I don't know how confident in that hope I am. Nationalism is on the rise everywhere, and India isn't free from susceptibility there. Also, in the 70+ year conflict with Pakistan, it's not like it has been one-sided - India has its share of the blame and fault and....well, downright dangerous, behavior.

What's weird to me is that religious nationalism is usually based around the proselytizing, Ibrahamic religions (specifically Christianity and Islam) that say salvation is only possible through their beliefs. Hinduism is neither exclusionary, nor proselytizing. The Hindu religion doesn't care if you become a Hindu or not, and it certainly doesn't go out of its way to convert you to it (except for minor cults like the Hare Krishna). Instead, it solely seems to be based on Islamaphobia and the Muslimification of India when the Mughals invaded like......a thousand years ago. India, in theory, has no problems with Christians or Buddhists, but we all know how religious persecution ends up - it starts with one group, and then spreads to all groups who aren't in the in-group.

Both have their problems and I wouldn’t be surprised if either of them ends of screwing everyone over.
Wouldnt be surprised if a another pandemic originated from either countries. India is a cesspool of corruption, pollution and racism that makes USA look pleasant in comparison.
China has border disputes with 18 countries but they only border 14, corruptions is rampant in the upper political ranks
