That's not how it works. The military is pledged to the Constitution, not the President. They don't just do whatever he says. Especially when he just lost an election and the transition of power is in process. Which is what top brass has said since Veterans Day, a week after the election.

Trump would have had to install loyalists in all levels of the military to actually send that shit through chain of command and that is not what he did.

Was wondering why I couldn't find this thread when I saw mods directing people to it. Because it was made by Kokolums and I have him on ignore.

I can only imagine the attack on the Capitol was a dream come true for him given what he was always posting.

Regardless, I am getting quite a bit of schadenfreude seeing the insurrectionists getting caught & arrested because they were dumb enough to post evidence against themselves on social media.

Sasse said that when Trump leaves office, the GOP have a choice to uphold the Constitution, or "become a party of conspiracy theories." "When Trump leaves office, my party faces a choice: We can dedicate ourselves to defending the Constitution and perpetuating our best American institutions and traditions, or we can be a party of conspiracy theories, cable-news fantasies, and the ruin that comes with them," he said. " "We can be the party of Eisenhower, or the party of the conspiracist Alex Jones," Sasse continued, referring to Jones, who is a conspiracy theorist.

In addition, he called efforts by his Republican colleagues including Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) to object to the election results "really dumbass."
Sasse is trying to white wash the last four years and pretend he wasn't enabling Trump the entire time. Sure, he gave Trump mild criticism now and then, but when push came to shove he voted with Trump the overwhelming majority of the time.

As I understand the question was why democracies (in contrast to republics) always fail.

So, as examples of democracies - in contrast to republics - always failing you give the following examples:

    • Roman republic (which failed).
    • Iraq, it's unclear if you mean "The first Iraqi Republic" which fell to Baath rule and was replaced by the "Republic of Iraq", which was overthrown by the US and replaced by the current Iraqi republic.
    • The Republic of Ghana
    • Democratic People's Republic of Korea (which is failing; but haven't collapsed yet).
    • Republic of Uganda
    What was the point?

Also, why is the Republican party upholding Constitutional values only dependent upon Trump leaving office?

The Republicans rail against mob rule while touting the rule of law. So they take a mob to DC to try and overrule the rule of law.

Just another blatant example of the conservative hypocrisy that they’ve been perfecting since the 80’s.

I agree that it makes no sense.

It might be that this fallacy is more prevalent in the US due to the two main parties: democrats and republicans; and some mistaken belief that the claim "it's a republic not a democracy" means that the republicans is therefore the true party and the democrats un-American.
Historically the distinction was between "direct democracy" (which the founding father's rejected, but authoritarians normally embrace) and "representative government" (which practically every country has).

What country are those cities located? What country are you going to be damaging?

If America does not give in to your demands, what happens? Destroy it? How is that not terrorism?

He did install loyalist. Just two weeks ago he fired many Pentagon top officials. I just read he was trying to install a loyalist at 2nd or high position in CIA and the CIA Director threatened to quit.

My point was him using any means, with the military being the obvious. My BIG point is Trump is still trying to overthrow our government.

I thought democratic cities were all burned down by BLM and antifa? Are you telling me that’s a lie.

Terrorists like yourself are incredibly dangerous.

Dating apps are starting to ban people who participated in the terrorist attack on the Capitol. It's truly a shame for all the single women out there, the shaman guy with the horns and fur vest was a real catch, he would've made some woman real happy someday.
