    It's literally a dude's name. Amerigo Vespucci.

The embarrassing part is that the dude was Italian, did basically a travelogue of early Spanish and Portugese exploration. He's probably the first to call the Americas the "New World" and not part of Asia, and for that cartographers started naming the continent after him, and Vespucci likely never even knew about it.

It's a pretty ridiculous origin for the names of two of the seven continents of the world.

A lot of name origins are pretty uninspired, especially when it comes to colonialism.

Still better than being named after a poor girl who got transformed into a cow, raped by a god in bull form and then chased by his wife across the continent disguised as a fly.

Riley Williams, 23-year-old boomer, convicted of and sentenced for interfering with police during a civil disorder, resisting arrest, and stealing office supplies and selling them to Russia, wait, what? Someone actually convicted of stealing office supplies? For real?

She was convicted of the offenses in November. The jury did not reach a verdict on two other charges — aiding in the theft of government property and obstruction of an official proceeding, according to the Justice Department.

Williams had been accused of planning to help steal a laptop or hard drive from Pelosi's office on Jan. 6, 2021, and sending it to Russia, per a criminal complaint.

A person who claimed to be Williams' "former romantic partner" tipped off the FBI about her, claiming she planned to send the computer device to a friend in Russia, according to prosecutors' statement of facts.

The friend in Russia was allegedly planning to sell it to Russia’s foreign intelligence service, the DOJ said.

Meanwhile, prosecutors alleged in June 2022 she also boasted online about taking Pelosi’s gravel.

"While inside the building, Williams pushed other rioters to invade further, organized groups of them into a human battering ram to physically break through police lines, berated the police officers, directed a large group of rioters to lock arms to resist law enforcement efforts to clear them from the building," the DOJ said in its statement Thursday.

They said evidence showed she "encouraged another rioter to steal a laptop" from Pelosi's office and that "video captured Williams commanding another rioter to 'Take that fucking laptop' and told him 'Dude, put on gloves!'" to avoid being identified.

"Williams took video, audio, and photo recordings of her activities, which she proudly shared on social media, bragging about her leadership role in the riot and participation in thefts from the Office of the Speaker," the Justice Department said.
Yet another boomer stealing classified office supplies to sell to Russian intelligence. Also, between organizing other rioters to break down doors and obstruct the Capitol Police in the building they broke into, bragging about her leadership role, and "take that fucking laptop to sell to Russian intelligence!" the idea that this wasn't a coordinated strike seems increasingly less likely.

Just another uncoordinated boomer stealing office supplies so hard, she deleted her social media accounts and got three years in federal prison.

It is worth noting that her defense team actually filed, on her defense, in court, that she was different from the other white nationalists she was associated with, oh by the way she was associated with Nick Fuentes and his group, but she was different because she was a woman. No really, they plead "female" in court. The same defense team also used a more common tactic, well common amongst the boomers stealing office supplies that is, that "Your Honor, this is my client's first murderous insurrection".

More on the subject in this court document, which Williams stole and sold to Russia.

EDIT: Also, "dude, put on gloves!" is a fucking stupid thing to say when you took selfies during the crimes you were committing. "We can see in the pictures the defendant took herself the gloves she wore to keep us from identifying her," the prosecution probably said. "If she hadn't told literally everyone she knew about the crimes she was part of while she was doing them, that might actually have worked."

Shit like this is why I'm glad we didn't have camera phones or easily acquired cameras when I was a teen.
Did I try to murderously overthrow the government? No.
At one point, could all of my closest friends have identified my bare naked ass in a line up? Almost certainly.

So, we can add whistling to the things MTG doesn't like. No, not catcalling type whistling. Just blowing a whistle. Granted, you can get pretty loud with a whistle but unless you are right on top of someone doing it as loud as possible, you won't get much from it.

    Snowflake, she is.

'This man assaulted everyone': Marjorie Taylor Greene staffer tries to get a protester arrested for whistling

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s staff on Friday tried to get a protester arrested for whistling during a press conference.

The disruption happened as the far-right Congresswoman from Georgia was holding a press conference after visiting Jan. 6 defendants held at a Washington D.C. jail, where she said they were being denied medical care and treated as “political prisoners.”

A Democratic Congressman who joined a delegation led by Greene disputes Green’s characterization of the conditions the inmates are experiencing.

“We toured the DC Jail today and held a press conference outside the jail after our tour,”Greene tweeted.

“This man assaulted everyone there by blowing a whistle as loud in as he could in other’s ears and tried multiple times to assault me and other members.”

She said her staff tried to shield those in attendance from the “assault.”

“He needs to be arrested and we tried to have him arrested,” Greene said.

“My staffer called 911 and reached an automated recording for several minutes before reaching a human. Reported the guy. She then asked the jail to send out an officer and they refused.”

Greene said that the decision not to arrest the man typified a much bigger pattern of lawless liberals acting out without facing consequences.

“This is just another example out of a million others that the left does repeatedly without accountability.”

During her press conference, Greene complained of “ a two-tier justice system,” in which the Jan. 6 defendants are being mistreated.

“I mean what we've seen all along is the pretrial January 6 defendants were treated like political prisoners,” she said.

Greene accused the whistler, who she said also attended a 2021 press conference, of threatening her staffer.

“Sounds like a direct threat, ‘Don’t touch! Touch you die!’” Greene said.

Look, I'll be honest, making a really loud noise could really be a kind of assault as loud-enough noises can cause actual harm. If I go into your office and blow a bullhorn in your face, something about that should be illegal.

So in that respect she could have a valid point.

    However.

To claim blowing a whistle is a felony assault, while the Jan 6th terrorist traitors are fine, is hypocrisy. It'd still be illegal to punch a convicted murderer at the end of his trial, but he'd be a complete fuckwit hypocrite to say "my murder was not a crime, but that guy punching me was".

Adam Miller and David Steiner, two 41-year-old boomers from Ohio, plead guilty in December and were sentenced over the weekend. (This did make national news as well)

Both were fined $1,000, given 30 days in prison, 60 hours community service, and 3 years probation, as they both plead guilty and both expressed remorse. And probably time served.

Sentences were also likely light because neither men were proven to have stolen office supplies.

But I know the real question you're asking: "Adam Miller? David Steiner? Didn't those two face off in the March 28, 2007, Swarthmore vs Franklin & Marshall lacrosse game?" My response to that is "I don't think so, both colleges are in Pennsylvania not Ohio, and they'd have been 25 at the time".

Qanon Shaman released from prison WAAAAYYYYYY early. He's going to bring one helluva lawsuit against the government for a ridiculously long sentence for trespassing and they know the earlier they release him, the better chances they have of winning that suit.

He is looking at a huge payday.
TO FIX WOW:1. smaller server sizes & server-only LFG awarding satchels, so elite players help others. 2. "helper builds" with loom powers - talent trees so elite players cast buffs on low level players XP gain, HP/mana, regen, damage, etc. 3. "helper ilvl" scoring how much you help others. 4. observer games like in SC to watch/chat (like twitch but with MORE DETAILS & inside the wow UI) 5. guild leagues to compete with rival guilds for progression (with observer mode).6. jackpot world mobs.

Just like Rittenhouse, right? How're those lawsuits coming, by the way? Did he get into medical school yet?

Qanon Shaman will get a huge payday. Either from the lawsuit, speaking fees, a book. Its coming. He was clearly a political prisoner and releasing him super early from prison under pressure from Tucker Carlson is proof of that. its an admission of guilt the government did him wrong by releasing him this early, period.

    Again, just like Kyle?

How's Kyle doing on the MAGA Speaking circuit? I thought he got admitted to a bunch of schools until the schools said he was lying about that.

Political prisoner? Rofl, yeah, dudes that stormed the Capitol building in an attempt to overturn a lawful election are "political prisoners", my guy.

You really support the terrorists in this, don't you?

He's not gonna win any lawsuits; he was properly convicted of actual crimes he actually did.

He might get a book deal, sure, for the same reasons Alex Jones is popular; there's a lot of absolute fuckin' morons who support the worst fuckin' people because they're all malicious shitheads of the same stripe.

Being able to sell Nazi memorabilia to Nazis doesn't mean Nazism is popular and good.

A political prisoner? The dude was caught on video taking part in the riot. Are you implying that people should be free to commit crimes as long as their victims are of a different ideology?

Otherwise this is more posting conspiracy theories.

    Some actual information -

Jacob Chansley, the Capitol rioter known as the "QAnon Shaman" and arguably the most recognizable Jan. 6 defendant, has been transferred from a federal prison complex to a halfway house in Arizona, several months before he was initially set to be released.

Federal prison records indicate Chansley is currently at a "residential reentry management" facility in Phoenix, with a release date of May 25. He was originally projected to be released in July 2023, but federal prisoners can earn reductions in sentences over the course of their time behind bars.

Chansley was sentenced to 41 months prison in November 2021, two months after he pleaded guilty to a federal charge of obstruction of an official proceeding. He also spent time in jail prior to his guilty plea and sentencing.
So...3 months early to a halfway house, not actually free, is not actually as big of a coup as conservatives are making it out to be, predictably. More context -

A Bureau of Prisons spokesman wouldn't comment specifically on Chansley's case, but noted in a statement to CBS News that the 2018 law known as the First Step Act changed how frequently federal inmates can earn sentence reductions, with credits last calculated in March.
And...we're ending the month of March now.

Man, really gotta stop taking any conservative leaning person as a remotely credible source for the accurate framing of any news, I guess.
