    That guy.

So that guy who just got 22 years was not happy about it:

Tarrio apologised for his actions, branded the Capitol riot a “national embarrassment” and vowed that his days of meddling in politics are over.

    “My candidate lost,” he admitted.

“What happened on January 6 was a national embarrassment... I do not think what happened that day was acceptable.”

Choking up with emotion, Tarrio said that he had let his family down with his actions as he begged the judge not to rob him of his 40s behind bars.

“I am not a political zealot. Inflicting harm or changing the results of the election was not my goal,” Tarrio said.

“Please show me mercy. I ask you that you not take my 40s from me.”

He added: “When I get back home I want nothing to do with politics, groups, activism or rallies... and when you walk out that door your honor, I won’t be saying anything other than that.”
Yeah, I don't believe him. I'm seeing a trend here.

There's more to the story, however. Trump could bolster his base by promising to pardon the Jan 6th traitor terrorists. Yes, I've said before bolstering his base isn't enough, but his base is showing signs of weakening and Trump's arrest could change that, so right now, bolstering his base is actually a logical move.

Problem is, Trump not just the person who routinely never fulfills his promises. He's also the guy who takes even the slightest comment personally. Remember, he "weighs" 215 pounds. These pleas of "Trump lost" on the stand, even those later recanted, will be what Trump remembers. Also, Trump had his chance from Jan 6 to Jan 20th and didn't do it.

This is an opportunity for someone like, oh I don't know, Christie or Pence to say "I'll pardon them just to foster an atmosphere of healing and unity, they have already admitted they were wrong" and be far more believable. Or, for Ramstrumpay to do it and at least be more believable in the sense that he hasn't failed to do it yet.

If Trump's rabid fanbase had any morals, ethics, dignity or memory, they'd know that they acted on Trump's orders and he abandoned them. They should be looking for someone else who stands for their values, but who might actually deliver. A thousand of their friends went to jail and Trump tiny pink swears he'll get around to it, and also, claims "they're coming for me because they're coming for you" when he's not the one in jail yet.

They won't see that. They're too far gone. But they should. Maybe one of the other GOP members will remind them in a debate Trump skips.

P.S. Tarrio wasn't at the Capitol because he was in jail for vandalizing a church. His plea for mercy on the grounds that he's not a bad person KKKannot be trusted.

Yeah, they don't like it when the criminal justice system actually does its job and holds everyone accountable for their actions, not just "the others".

I swear, someone should be at their trial, after the sentencing is done, just to say "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time." Not the judge but some random person so that they cannot scream mistrial or some bullshit.

Number of Trump cultists arrested for murderous insurrection climes to 1,146.

Among them is Lewis Wayne Snoots, of Louisa, Virginia, who was...
    Hold on.

    (re-reads article)

    Yep...that's actually his name.

arrested Tuesday for allegedly joining the attack on D.C. Metropolitan Police officer Michael Fanone during the insurrection more than 2.5 years ago.

    Snoots
    (sighs)

is one of some 398 people who have been charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers or employees.

Fanone gained national attention after testifying about his assault before the House Jan. 6 committee last year.

He suffered a minor heart attack and a traumatic brain injury after he was dragged into a mob, beaten and tased during the Capitol riot. Fanone resigned from the force in Dec. 2021.

    Snoot is accused of--
    "I thought it was 'Snoots'?"

Look, I...I'm wondering if Axios is even trying. When you start your article with a name like that, you can't expect to be taken seriously.

Snoot is accused of grabbing Fanone and physically restraining him while other rioters assaulted him.

Video indicates the 59-year-old's actions "appeared to significantly hinder and impair Officer Fanone's ability to defend himself against the continuous assaults by other rioters," the DOJ alleges.

    Snoot
    "There it is again!"

    (facepalm)

    Just...I don't know.

was charged in a criminal complaint with felony offenses of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers and civil disorder, along with several misdemeanor offenses.

Four other men have pleaded guilty to assaulting Fanone, per the Washington Post.

Among them are Daniel Rodriguez, from Fontana, California, who received a 12-year prison sentence, and Albuquerque Head, from--
    "His name is Albuquerque Head?"

I just cut and paste, dude! I am not the one who named these traitor motherfuckers.

"If I was named Snoots or Albuquerque Head, I would probably be bullied into a felony by age 12."

from Kingsport, Tennessee, who was sentenced to more than seven years.

They're people who have never faced a day's inconvenience or major consequence in their life. Remember, these are people who spent disposable time and income to travel across the country to break into federal property because their team lost. The people going there legitimately thought they'd just get off scot-free because what they were doing was "no big deal," and who was going to punish them? The wussy libs? Like they were just TPing the rival school before homecoming, and the cops would just say "oh those boys will be boys!" and just let them go about their merry way.

It's heartening to see them all be given a very cold reality check.

Add Ben Shuler to the list.

Shuler is charged with civil disorder and assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers — both felony charges.

Additionally, he is charged with other misdemeanor offenses, such as entering and remaining in a restricted business or grounds; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; and engaging in an act of physical violence on Capitol grounds or buildings.

Court documents state that on Jan. 6, 2021, a police line established on the northwest stairs to the Capitol began to descend the steps to clear the area of protesters, including Shuler. As police began to clear the area, he allegedly resisted and pushed a Montgomery County Police Department officer’s riot shield several times and pressed his body into the shield.

As the police line attempted to advance down the steps, court records say Shuler continued to resist and pressed his body into another police officer’s riot shield and shoved it back several times. As officers continued to move the police line down the stairs, Shuler resisted police and violently pushed an officer’s riot shield several times with significant force.

When the police line approached the bottom steps, a police officer’s body-worn camera footage shows Shuler gesturing to others to meet him in front of the police line and again resisting police by pushing back and swiping at an officer’s riot shield.
Shuler committed violent crimes on camera. He's going to prison.

EDIT: Oh, how typically Trumpian this was.

Just after the verdict was read, Navarro attorney Stan Woodward called for a mistrial, claiming the jurors went outside during their break were exposed to protestors toting Jan. 6-related signs. Government prosecutors said they did not see any protestors outside the exit the jurors purportedly used.

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta said he would not rule on the mistrial request until the defense provided him video or photo evidence of such a situation, which they said they were collecting.
    Wow.

First, claiming that jurors would be swayed into voting "guilty" because of seeing protest signs on their break.

Two, claiming that there were protest signs when there were no protest signs.

    Three, filing lies under oath.

    EDIT EDIT OH GOD INCEPTION:

I am willing to go to prison to settle this issue. I’m willing to do that.
    -- Navarro

It's a criminal trial. Your willingness isn't the point.

I think he just allowed a lot of people who usually wouldn't be let into sniffing distance of power a taste of what it's like to have their hands on the controls. They like that taste, and so they've hitched themselves to him because they know that no one else will let them into such a position again.

I agree, but we're rational, sane people.

That said, don't leave out the option that people are deciding if being loyal to Trump will get them a pardon -- not necessarily from Trump, but from some official who happens to get elected using the Trump cult. If their options are "beg for a pardon in public" vs "cut a deal with prosecution" it's a fairly standard game theory.
