We shouldn't even be looking for that evidence. You want to make the claim? You go find that evidence. Everyone else should just assume you're a lying turdfactory until you do so.

The story should be "Republican representatives lying to manufacture a conspiracy theory to misinform voters". We do have the evidence to conclude that. Stop entertaining their bullshit. Just call them liars and charlatans, to their faces, until they start providing evidence first.

To be blunt; their strategy is the Nazi propaganda technique of the Big Lie. And their supporters are gullible and ignorant enough to fall for it. I expect the media to be fucking smarter than that.

Doubtful unless they can tie it to Clarence Thomas himself. Even then to remove a SCOTUS justice requires a majority vote in the House and 2/3rds of the Senate to approve it.

Though Nancy mentioned back in November she had a bill ready to go through committee which would change the law to just a simple majority vote in the Senate and sign off by the president.

Part of me wants to think that this is too much, as it would allow the President and half the Senate to just strip the bench and fill it from scratch.

Her bill also required majority vote from the House as well. That part remains the same as in the current law.

But even if the bill was just talk, it will be interesting to see what's going to happen to the SCOTUS. Because I believe to change the law limiting the SCOTUS from 9 requires 60 votes. Might be wrong, not sure.

Looks like to change the law limiting the number of SCOTUS justices just requires a majority vote in the House and Senate, with Presedent's signature. 2021 looks like it's going to be interesting.

More video from before Babbitt was shot. There were Capitol Police in front of the doorway protecting it, and they just left. Like, just stepped aside and let the mob have at it. That's when the mob broke the glass and she went charging through.

Finally got around to watching this.

Rioters were attempting to break through the double doors of the Speaker's Lobby, where several Congress members and staffers were huddled in a group. Three DC cops were barring entry, not wearing any body armor or riot gear. Nearby there appears to be one secret service member, standing against the wall near the nearby stairs to the left. Rioters were attempting to reach past the cops, punching the door windows and striking the doors with improvised weapons (clubs?, flagpoles?, a helmet wrapped in cloth?). The windows were cracked by punches and the doors were ajar, and appeared to be barricaded on the other side with tables and chairs.

Rioters were extremely aggressive, shouting at the cops, essentially demanding that they be allowed entry, and clearly intending to reach the politicians and staff hiding inside. One or two rioters attempted to placate the mob haranguing the police, telling them to "chill the fuck out out" and that cops aren't the ones they're there to go after. Others responded by yelling "fuck the blue" and that they had the cop's backs all summer. Babbitt remains at or near the front of the crowd yelling at the cops indescernibly. From the back of the mob there is a continuous chant of "break it down."

One of the rioters then says that those inside the lobby are being taken away (off camera, escorted out a side exit in the lobby by secret service). The rioters become more aggressive and frantic, trying to push through. The person filming leans toward the nearest cop and suggests he leave for his own safety.

Moments later one of the officers seems to shout at someone in the distance down the hall, makes some hand gestures towards the stairs to the left, tells the other officers, "they're ready to roll," then the three cops quickly move forward past the crowd, abandoning the door and exiting the hall down the stairs. With the door no longer barred, the mob redoubles their efforts to break through.

On the other side of the door, at least two secret service members draw handguns and aim them at the crowd while in the cover of side hallways. The rioters see the guns and repeatedly shout that they have guns. Most stop and move away from the door. Babbitt appears to stand on some furniture placed against the door, and begins trying to break and climb through a side window into the lobby.

I personally couldn't hear if the secret service agents on the other side were issuing any warnings or commands, but as Babbitt continues forcing her way in, the agent nearest the door steps forward out of the hall and fires a single shot at Babbitt. She immediately falls to the ground, off the furniture she was standing on, landing on her back.

Rioters move away, one cradles and attempts to move her away from the door, then lays her back down. Some rioters shout surprised expletives, the man filming says, "shots fired." A team of tactical officers with guns drawn enters through the same stairs that the police had exited down and tells the mob to move away.
