    Tanking was fun

I remember few of my tanking moments and i smile as i recall almost all the details. It was something i really liked. The main thing was back in WotLK at Blood Prince Council and later as an off-tank when the apotheosis existed. Maybe i can add to that nostalgia the old school drain life tanking SL/SL build. All those 3 things where tremendous and i really enjoyed all of them.

Is it bad that i wish demo or aff be an actual tank sometime in the future?

As a tank players playing all tanking classes, I played the demon hunting glyph during MoP. It was gimmicky fun, but no crit immunity made it impossible to tank hard content.

Still was a good laugh when I tanked random heroic with my ret buddy (who was the one tagging as tank, since you couldn't as warlock).

I don't think warlock should have a full fledged tank spec, nor that they need one.

In my opinion yes, Warlock is a DPS class. I personally do not want it to be a hybrid.

Ackchually in DnD where blizzard took most of his warlock ideas from, the warlock has a melee spec that can be played as a tank, where he weakens the enemy with a cursing spellblade. The Hexblade warlock. I’m playing one in my PnP group. I could see the concept in wow where attack apply curses that spread to nearby enemies. Similar to dk.

I've long advocated for adding tank/heal specs to the pure dps classes, if for no other reason than to ameliorate DPS queue times. I always level my warlock first, but god those wait times to get early dungeons going. -_-

Plus, you know, it'd be something new and interesting. Maybe.

Warlock already has the old Meta tank build, so the groundwork is there even without the transformation itself to keep the DHs happy. Spreading Soul Link across the whole party could be fun, letting the entire party share in the damage and contribute to the Soul Leech shield. Incentive for everyone to perform well. Mostly I miss AoE drain tanking half the world at once

Could have an automatic sort of GoSac when summoning demons in tank spec; baseline armor boost/raw damage reduction, plus different bonuses based on the demon used. Imp for increased self healing or general healing received (good for solo), Voidwalker for extra physical damage reduction, Felhunter for magic bosses, Succy for more dps throughput or CC potential (also good solo).

For Rogues, bringing back Combat as a tank spec seems reasonable. Lower CD on Vial/tune it down a bit, turn Feint into a more active mitigation ability. I don't know Rogues all that well to really go into the nitty gritty.

Survival can be Hunter tank spec or something. I'm not really familiar enough with that toolkit to speculate. But I also wouldn't complain about a healer spec that relied on cute animal snuggles and tail wags.

Mages would make interesting healers. I dream of a Chronomancer spec, healing by reversing damage (a la Alter Time), using shields (they already have personal shields so it's not a stretch, and PW:S could use some company in the toolkit club), quick Armor buffs, in the same vein as Earth Shield (Ice Armor for armor boost, Mage Armor for magic resistance/resource generation which feeds the tank's active mitigation, Molten Armor for thorns-type damage), and a cauterize/fire themed set of regular, direct heals for emergencies.

Or just make 5 mans into 8 mans by adding 3 more dps to the run and boosting mob health a bit, I dunno. I know Mythic is all the hotness these days so premades are where the action is, but sometimes it's nice to just relax a little with some randos... or make my hair go grey. It's a gamble.

    Yeah, nope.

It was always just a gimmick and a bad one at that. If you want "warlock" tanking - DH does it brilliantly.

When I rolled my main lock back in Vanilla - one of the most important considerations was being a pure damage dealer, no shitty healy/tanky crap you can get socially pressured into (got burnt hard by Paladin, knight in shining armor turned healbot). I'd rather it stay this way.

Umm, no, DH does not do warlock tanking brilliantly. It's not anything like Dark Apotheosis tanking, which, in how it was set up, would have been the ultimate "soak" tank - No dodge/parry, just massive amounts of armor and self healing, along with interesting dynamics with the pet.

DH tanks were a blend between Blood DK and pre-Legion Guardian - Avoidance along with self healing. Of course, when you have half the power of both kits - Half the avoidance of pre-Legion guardian, and half the self-healing of Blood DKs, you don't wind up with a full tank, but just a half-assed tank, which was what DH tanks basically were until their massive buff in BfA - Blizzard basically doubled both their passive mitigation as well as their CD with that BfA patch.

Though tanking has been mostly downhill since Pandaria really. Blizzard has continually chipped away at the survivability of ALL tanks with each expansion - In MoP, tanks could be completely self-contained and not even need a dedicated healer in organized groups (Thus the common 1 tank 4 DPS cmode runs, as well as the dozens of vids of tanks soloing the last few %ages on various bosses when everyone else went down due to mechanic or healer failure). Now heals are responsible for roughly half of a tank's survivability in any content. Passive mitigation of most tanks is down significantly compared to previous expansions. Active mitigation is also significantly weaker then past expansions.

I will say that Blizzard is pulling back on that a bit - At the very least, most tanks are in a better spot then in BfA.

This is an excellent idea that was talked a long time ago, sadly at this point in time I don't think changing a class this extreme would be something the community accept, giving the pure DPS the 4th spec like druids would been better but we know that will never happen

People think warlocks don't need anything. Hence why it is stale and boring as shit right now.

Warlocks were perfect WOTLK -> Cata era. They took all our shit and made us choose between what used to be baseline in talents or ripped it out and gave it to other classes. At least they fixed UA I guess, the BFA design was shit, though the PvP talent to cast it on 3 enemies should be baseline. They also need to return soul swap.

I would LOVE for soul swap to come back. But you know their are a group of twats out there that would cry and groan that warlocks are suddenly to OP with it and we will never see it again. Like never. And we all know the developers listen to the whiners.

Have fun playing DnD then. This is wow where we are a DPS class. It was a bit fun in MoP with the glyph at times but nothing I would want to be forced into if I wanted a group/raid. DPS is good enough.

I did a few CMs just to say that I did but meh, not something to do all the time.

I always hoped that they would allow various specs from all classes to tank/heal. I think there's some creative ways to handle it, probably easiest for tanking.

You can take any dps class and add threat to their abilities when they decide to turn on tanking and give them a taunt type spell.
You can easily add armor or damage mitigation passives, for example druid has damage mitigation passives when switching to guardian spec.

So for warlock you could imagine a scenario where enabling 'tank mode' would trigger some X damage reduction due to demon skin and X increased threat for all damaging abilities. Maybe it could even be something where you gain increased control over your demon and your demon(s) due to the tanking.

Could be really fun with some imagination. You could then tank abilities from other classes and see how a rogue could tank or even a mage, etc.

All classes should have one spec that is either healing or tanking. Would solve a few issues and give the player base more options.

That's one thing Wildstar did well indeed. Every class there had two spec : DPS + either tank or heal.

I agree. I miss that game even though I did not really get into as much as I could or should have.
