Other: Brimstone. Love that movie with a fiery passion. It's bleak, it's grim, it doesn't shy away and it's not all about "Oh look I can shoot quick huehue!"...

Also if going by best Western settings but not just movies: Godless on Netflix. Best Western content I've ever seen.

    Firefly of course.

Challenge Mode : Play WoW like my disability has me play:
You will need two people, Brian MUST use the mouse for movement/looking and John MUST use the keyboard for casting, attacking, healing etc.
Briand and John share the same goal, same intentions - but they can't talk to each other, however they can react to each other's in game activities.
Now see how far Brian and John get in WoW.

Haven't seen the others but I definitely plan to.

I absolutely loved Hateful Eight. All time favourite movie right there, don't know what could possibly top it off yet lol

  4. #24
While I wouldn't count it as a TRUE western, I absolutely love Blazing Saddles.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is my favorite serious one.

There are many great western movies, but there really is only one Good, Bad, and Ugly. Its a cultural icon and stands above most movies, but definitely above all westerns.

    If I had to make a list of honorable mentions;
    Tombstone
Fist Full of Dynamite (Duck you sucker)
    Unforgiven
    Dances with Wolves
    High Plains Drifter

"For a Few Dollars More", though "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" is up there too.
"May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce"

"May the Goddess smile upon you."

"Hero", is what they've all been saying. This world, it isn't worth the saving."

  7. #27
No "My Name Is Nobody" here? I find it exceptional. The GB&U comes second, so I'll pick that. It's too good to deserve a "Other".

  8. #28
The only one i've seen from the list is No Country for Old Men, and it was good. So there goes my vote.

  9. #29
I'm a sucker for Jeff Bridges so the True Grit remake gets my vote.

"Would you please let me join your p-p-party?

That's how it goes. They weren't that big on taking non-Western IP seriously back in those days.
I know that it was, but they didn't entirely steal the movie the way they did with Yojimbo.

That's exactly what I did too. Unforgiven was a phenomenal western, with TG, TB, &TU a close 2nd. You can't go wrong with a Clint Eastwood western.
when all else fails, read the STICKIES.

Word, there was no way I was going to put Unforgiven as Other. Unforgiven is not Other! /shakesfist

I really enjoyed Forsaken. I have only seen 3-4 westerns so my opinion is definitely biased, but Forsaken got me into the genre while nothing before had.

Unforgiven or The Outlaw Josey Wales are the best westerns of all time.

I get the feeling people vote "The Good The Bad & The Ugly" cuz they heard it mention a lot?

But "Once Upon A Time In The West" is really his best work..the cinematography is just on a different level...

Weird image in the OP, not sure why somebody added a "Saloon" sign to the McBain place.

I am a big fan of Once Upon a Time in the West and many others mentioned. Westerns are probably my favorite genre.

As much as it turns my stomach to agree with Val on anything, The Searchers is probably my favorite.

Did anybody say The Wild Bunch yet? Or The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance?

If you like western cinematography, look no further than The Searchers, Leone went to great lengths to emulate the visual style John Ford mastered in that film, even importing tons of red dirt to Spain.
