    Food porn

What do you think of people who constantly post pictures of their meals on social media? Do you post your food on social media?

Eh, I've posted posted photos of stuff I cooked, because I was stoked to have made something edible. I don't really understand restaurant photos, unless it was something really unusual or super dumb, like those stupid Bloody Marys with pizzas and burgers and shit hanging off of them.

How can you not post pictures like this.

I think it's great if it is something I might like. When I prepare a meal I am proud of, I post pictures of it on my Facebook. I think cooking is creative. I like posts about it. I especially like it if it's something I would like, tells how they made it and what they used to make it with. I look up recipes and stuff on youtube all the time.

    Food porn?

Mukbang is the word you are looking for!

As for social media. Posting anything in social media by itself is questionable (yes, i'm a victim of it too)

Food porn is awesome, there's a lot of good food accounts on Instagram. Cheese is my favorite food theme and I like anything with avocado. Also I like steak porn and comparing all the different cuts to see which one is the best. Yum.

I don't mind it. I worked as a sous chef and PDR manager before and I appreciate the creativity of some dishes. It gives me life.

So are we just supposed to fill this thread with our own food porn?

People like food and it's low effort. Post something with tinges of orange, green, maybe some red, ???, easy fam.

Its called 'porn' because it's low effort, pandering high gratification. Doesn't matter if the food is actually good or even makes sense. It's the illusion and perception.

I'm starting to think that social media, in general, is not a good thing for a number of reasons.

Social media is just a way of communicating though, I don't see how you can blame the platform.

If someone keeps posting pictures of their food and the pictures aren't that good then I just stop following them. It doesn't seem like an issue to me.

90% of "food porn" pictures give me more entertainment value as either jump scares or comedy because they suck. I more cringe at people constantly vying for attention (especially in online form) but, hey, it makes me feel better about myself for not needing that type of validation and it makes me laugh. I don't think anything needs to be done about social media, though.

When I try making something new, I’ll post them on Facebook, because I’m friends with a few professional chefs (in real life) and homemakers who also enjoy cooking. But it’s limited to my close circle of friends, so maybe about 20 people see those pictures.

This is not what I think of when I hear "Food Porn".

And I have no intention of getting banned for posting what i think it is...

if I make something that doesn't only taste nice, but also looks great too? i'll post it. I don't see it any different from posting my crafts. its more effort then posting my pets (whom I still post because i'm a proud pet parent and as stereotypical as any parent about my babies and their pictures). Food can be art. we share other kinds of art and its not somehow seen as wrong. why not food art?

I grow up my mom telling me to don’t eat what I have where other kids can see me.
    Or eat and walk.

Mind you it was mostly a slice of bread with tomato paste on it.

I am disgusted whenever I see people posting where they went or ate. I can eat/go/drink/do whatever they do a thousands times over or better. I have status, money, energy all of it. But me putting a pic of it somewhere is unimaginable.
