Only certain souls can leave hence why the Brokers can't leave once they enter. Also we assume that the Maw was always a prison, the prison might have originally only been Torghast with the Jailer as the warden before he committed his offense. The original role of the Kyrian might have been to fully escort souls to their destination after judgement.

A lot of lore points to the Maw, or at least the mass containing Torghast, having been a realm named Obleron or Obleros. That was likely its name when it was a Covenant realm that Zovaal once likely ruled, and it became his prison when he turned on the other Eternal Ones eons ago. Zovaal, now known as the Jailer, has been pulling dying or stolen realms and adding them to the Maw over the ages.

Well at the end of Maldraxxus they show the Maw can just open up portals where ever and dump some Kyrians to pull people in, I'm sure they could just send someone through with a Kyrian carrying them.

Though the cutscene suggests the Arbiter knew that Anduin had been saved, so either they messed up and forgot that that hasn't happened or they plan that "Anduin's rescue event" to be the start of the patch... Or they could completely gloss over it with a "Stay awhile and listen" event about how "Anduin got saved by someone else/escaped and went straight to Bastion and that happened" which would have it's own issues.

He was controlled by the jailer. He doesnt have to "leave"

Don't try to rationalise any story decision on Shadowlands. It just hurts your brain

just my 2 cents, anduin to prove sylvanas is wrong and to try to change her mind accept to help her, and since the jailer needs that he goes bastion they let him go free on the maw to be find by us the players, if the jaina could escape a few times, why not anduin? the gap between the cinematics is huge

    He didn't. Hope that helps.

It has been established that until us Mawwalkers - nothing escapes the maw, mawwalkers (aka living souls) made an exception to that rule.

Yeah the entire setup of the Shadowlands is a bit wonky to begin with. Like how people can, you know, die there.

Outside the Kyrians, nobody can leave under their own power, and up till recently there were no Kyrians in the Maw. The Waystone only works for the Maw Walker.

Given how inflexible they are, i suppose nobody ever expected Kyrians to side with Zovaal.

It has been shown in the intro questline that Maw Walker and living soul is not synonymous. Out of the 5 living souls at the Waystone, only one managed to pass.

It's just so bad. Like the covenant campaigns were meant to be legion class order halls 2.0 but I find myself just skipping through it all because it's all so uninteresting and try-hard.

But Baine and Jaina couldn't operate the Waystone. Only the player. So how did Anduin escape?

Have you not seen all the Mawsworn Kyrian outside of The Maw? They flew him there. The wording is "Nothing can escape the Maw" and that the Jailer can't leave the Maw, it's not "no one can leave the Maw" Escaping =/= Leaving.

If you're a dead soul that dies in Shadowlands (i.e Ursoc), you cease to exist. If you're a being native to the Shadowlands (i.e Stewards) you eventually reform and reset. If you're a living soul that dies in Shadowlands, you turn into Anima and recover your body (i.e player character). It's not that difficult to comprehend.

Ah so this is the part of the expac where people ignore all the stuff they set up that explains what they're complaining about so they can boast about their ignorance.

The set up for the ENTIRE EXPAC, is KYRIAN MAW CONVERTS STEALING PEOPLE, how is it possible, that after all that, people honestly can't figure out how the jailer and Sylvanas would get an agent of theirs out of the maw? Really?

And then we got people like this guy who tries to shut down the discussion just because he can't figure out the story himself.

The story in Shadowlands is cancer. It's what you get when you have some bald-headed fuck like Steve Danuser who thinks he's creating some 5D chess interwoven storyline when in reality he has no fucking clue as lead narrative designer

Thank you for proving my point. I get you don't like the story but do you really have to try and stop others from discussing it?

Yeah, exactly this. Was it really so hard to come up with this scenario OP?

Did I miss something? Why would Anduin escape? He's currently being controlled by the Jailor. If he managed to "escape" that's the jailors plan and himself made sure it would happen.

2nd of all, we get dropped in the cinematic as if Anduin is going to bastion to ask of something. They're is clearly some time between now and then which will play out in the story campaign. We see how how it'll plays out.

Most likely we save him just like we did the others.
