As long as you're policing outrage could you let me know the word count needed for the subject? I wouldn't want to be under and get fined.

With all the other surrounding charges, pertaining to the gun, his speeding and harm to his gf, he's looking at much longer than 40 years.

There's people thinking he'll get the minimum and be in the league again in five years. There's not a chance in hell he'll be back in any professional league, and if he's out this side of sixty I'll be amazed.

I don’t think he’ll be getting dozens of years but it took forever for people to ease up on Vick, with some never forgiving him, so he’s beyond done in the league. The woman and dog in the car were burned alive screaming in pain and there might be audio of it and that’s a detail no one’s forgetting. 60 years though? You have to be a school shooting mass murderer to get that in America, and even then… But now that it’s come out the woman was white I’ve seen a real escalation in how hard people are screaming for death penalty or life in prison, so he could get max.

Ruggs is a fucking dumbass. He’s a rich, professional athlete he probably could have arranged to ride with a professional race car driver on a race track if wanted to go 150-200 mph. Hopefully they throw the book at him. I’m sure the drinking went into that decision, but still. I’ve been super fucking drunk and had the consciousness to move myself in front of a toilet.

Aaron Rodgers live and direct on the Pat McAfee show digging his own grave deeper and deeper. Some absolutely bananas statements.

    "I'm not an anti vaxxer"

*spews tons of anti vax rhetoric*

And consulted with Joe Rogan after testing positive.

As much as I don't like being goaded into subjects I'm uncomfortable with by dwightyo39's jackassery, I suppose I do have a little to say. There are two reasons why I'm loathe to discuss it.

    First,
This was the information age on full display. The crash happened Tuesday morning and we had every question answered that same day. Speeding? Yes, 156mph, 127 when the airbags deployed (ain't technology wonderful?). DUI? Yes, double the legal limit. Charges filed? And how! He killed a woman and her dog, he was drunk, speeding, had a loaded unregistered gun in his car, and an injured passenger, they're throwing multiple books at him. What will the Raiders do? Release him immediately. All this happened in one day, doesn't leave much to discuss, Monday he was a 22 year old millionaire athlete with his whole life ahead of him, Tuesday he was in a cell and it was all gone. Wednesday he posted bail because our justice system is a joke, but that is heavy shit I don't really want to get into here which leads to my next point...

    Second,
This is real shit, most of us have had our lives affected by drunk drivers. I've been in accidents caused by drunk drivers, I've lost family members to drunk drivers. It's not really what I come to the NFL thread on a video game forum to discuss. I have family in Vegas, it could've happened to one of them, our car is a RAV4, now I know that if somebody hits it at 120mph it will explode and cook me alive inside it, cheery stuff, please go on about how unconcerned I am. This shit is depressing.

Anti vax stuff is heavy enough too, on the lighter side, maybe he'll lose endorsements and some inane commercials will get pulled.

Pretty sure State Farm is trying to get a hold of his agent right now. But they probably have to get in line with all the other people who want to chat to his agent about current events. xD

Not sure why his agent didn't hire some kind of company that deals with crisis and had them help Rodgers not do whatever the fuck it was he just did and gotten his message out in a better way.

(not that that would have improved his message or his actual feelings and thoughts).

That was a hell of an appearance. To summarize:

"I'm not an anti vaxxer, but"

He stated he was allergic to one of the mRNA components to the vaccine. Did not specify which, but it effectively ruled out two options out of three. Heard about "adverse effects" with the J&J vax. It was temporarily pulled at the time so he "did his research" which included consulting with multiple doctors, and has over 500 pages of research. Decided to go with the "getting immunized" which he also did not specify what that meant. Presented it to the NFL in the offseason and they told him to kick rocks. Rodgers felt like the NFL thought he was a quack.

He feels the NFL is just pulling a publicity stunt antagonizing the anti vaxxers. One of the few valid points brought up is the testing methodology for vaxxed people allows them to enter the facility before results are in. They can go about their day, then they figure out they tested positive and then it creates a shit show of contact tracing.

Confirmed he was taking Ivermectin after testing positive, along with consulting with Joe Rogan.

"if the vaccine is so great, why are people still getting it and spreading it"

Hes 100% sold on that he caught COVID from a vaccinated person, he only removes his mask around vaccinated people. Repeated this several times.

Brought up a MLK quote to help bolster his stance.

Stated that "every" (repeated every several times) left leaning person didn't believe in the vaccine when Trump was in office. Once Biden was elected, the lefts stance changed.

Tried to say that the new COVID pills coming out for people already infected are just Ivermectin. Pat McAfee also stated he took it.

Also forgot to add, Rodgers said that people should focus on being healthy rather than look for a magic pill or jab. All while admitting to taking Ivermectin after testing positive with symptoms. Rodgers is an active NFL QB. I'd say hes pretty healthy.

I tried to make it as neutral as possible.... but man... it was hard. Some nutty shit in there.

It bothers me that people do things like that. It bothers me because he is a celebrity it is going to make people feel he is right.

I have a lot of friends who already believe this shit. And every time I prove them wrong it is always something like "Well, I still don't believe it is safe" or "You can't be sure." It doesn't matter. People like Rogers cannot be reasoned out of the position they have put themselves in because they did not use reason to get there.

I am laughing so hard. oh my god... Rodgers is a pure nutjob.

Ive also done my research and Im pretty sure the way Rodgers plays football is wrong and he should actually just throw the ball backwards. Trust me, I looked it up.

Yeah I'm sorry his excuse for why he didn't admit to being unvaccinated and not following protocol is fucking stupid.

"I did it because people were being called selfish and being cancelled for it."

Yeah and you lied about your vaccination status, put reporters and teammates at risk, and put your team at a competitive disadvantage by catching Covid at a Halloween party you shouldn't have been at if you were unvaccinated. You especially are selfish.

Absolutely. They are gonna look to him like hes their messiah.

Fortunately, as of this week all my friends and family are vaccinated around me. Last one was pretty far into that rabbit hole, but ultimately it became that or his career he worked his whole life for.

Apparently for protocol reasons due to close contact. He says he vaxxed.

Now if we believe that or not...

Since Rodgers and Kurt Benkert both tested positive, makes sense for him to be a close contact unless their 3 QBs were being kept separated.

If Rodgers has followed all the protocols for an unvaxxed person then there is really not much punishment they can do but if he broke protocols while being unvaxxed I have zero sympathy and want harsh harsh punishment for putting lives at risk.

    - - - Updated - - -

It does raise a question of why we need vehicles to hit such ludicrous speeds. But that is a debate not worth having in a sports thread.
I don’t understand the “40 years is not enough” sentiment. Like, say it were 20 years. He gets out at 42, and at this point:

    1. He’s much less of a danger. Older people don’t drive 150 miles an hour, recklessness fades with age.

    2. The government can stop paying money to sustain him in jail, and presumably he becomes a tax paying citizen.

A common rationale for prison is as a deterrent… I have a hard time believing that a 40 year deterrent is much worse than a 20 year deterrent.

Absent anything else I think the only real rationale is some sort of bloodthirsty revenge motive. Meh. 20 years is fine. I could be convinced that 10 is ok to, depending on a risk assessment of the potential for a repeat offense.

Plus he was released before the conversations here began so it wasn’t even an nfl issue anymore. Rodgers is an active part of the league. And as someone who roots for gb and likes Rodgers enough I would’ve followed him to any team, I hope his season is done.

Of all the things that put me off this was the worst. It was the one thing liberals were fine with and the criticism was that he wasn’t getting it out fast enough. It was the other side who went from “woo trump will save us” to “Biden is trying to steal all the vaccine credit when you should give trump all the credit!” to somehow “trump will still save us but the vaccine is now bad.”

I was already going through this yesterday on fb. Posting a ss would just be a hassle so have a transcript.

He didn't say he was vaccinated, if Aaron Rodgers doesn't want the vaccination , sure makes you wonder. He's not some dumb football player, dude is a genius.
Keenan Wagner sorry bro, I'm not taking my medical advice from an athlete who has zero medical education. I don't care how smart he is. Are you going to take football advice from a doctor because he's smart or would you trust Aaron Rodgers knows more about that topic than the doc?

    Do you even hear yourself?
at what point was that medical advice? You just take medical advice from the news lol, as if their believable
