A Further Update to Mythic Keystones in 9.0.5

A Further Update to Mythic Keystones in 9.0.5

We received a great deal of feedback on our planned adjustment, which is currently outlined in the 9.0.5 patch notes. With this proposed change, we would reintroduce an awkward dynamic where it wouldn’t be possible to sustain running a single Mythic Keystone dungeon per week, even if you always cleared the dungeon in time, because decay would necessitate re-leveling your keys every other week.

When we created the original logic for Mythic Keystones in 2016, we wanted to make sure that players were getting Keystones that appropriately suited their proficiency in Mythic Keystone dungeons, and we wanted to reinforce the importance of clean and well-executed dungeon runs. Having Keystones decay from one week to the next accomplished both of those goals. However, in Shadowlands, we introduced the Great Vault and more Season-driven tracking of performance in Mythic Keystone dungeons, and we unintentionally disabled the logic for de-leveling Keystones, but the reasons for the original design still apply.

We feel that the game should compensate players who consistently succeed at a certain difficulty by giving them keys that start at that level the following week, so we’re working on an update to 9.0.5 that should alleviate that concern while still satisfying the goals of the original system:

    • In a given week, if you finish a Mythic Keystone dungeon in time, the next week’s Great Vault will contain a Keystone of that same level.

So, for example, if your highest Mythic Keystone completion during week one is a +15 that you completed in time, you will get another +15 Keystone from the Great Vault to start week two. If you run that +15 during week two and fail to meet the timer, however, and complete no other +15 (or higher) Mythic Keystone dungeons the rest of week two, you will receive a +14 Keystone from the Great Vault to start week three.

Thank you for your feedback and understanding

Decent change. But they didn't need to alter the system so many times and create a clusterfuck.

Update feels way better than that shit they had planned before. It's worse than what's live currently, but at least it's a compromise, and a good one.

I still do not understand why they feel they need to reinvent the wheel over and over again. Use the same system and add more things to the game.

They didn't alter it, as explained in the post it was a bug the first time, so they are just fixing it.

Considering this forum, myself a possible suspect like to post the shit out of MMOC when BLZ does something percieved as bad I'm actually glad to read a piece of good news.
The news itself are good but I get the feeling that they are more on their toes towards feedback, way faster at either explaining why they disagree or adjust in accordance witht the feedback.

    Kudos BLZ

Good change, but it's a drop in the well. Definitely not enough to make me sub again.

Just remove keystones alltogether. People hated greater rifts in d3 until the keys and that arena bullshit was removed. Just give us a list with levels and let us chose the highest we have accomplished. when you clear your highests, your new highest will be in the list.

Worst case, let keystones decide the dungeons and let us decide the levels

either you like the „modern“ wow game design or not. i do not. so i do not care for their cheap shit rift stuff and if it works or not.

    otherwise: what previous poster said

    Fair compromise I think

they should remove the mythic + dungeon

it just great rift from D3, 90% of the player base dont do them because they are toxic and only reserved for the elite toxic player

they focus all ressource and time on a thing that only 10% of the players use really, blizzard logic i think ?

There are more than 10 things to do in game, so the fact that something gets 10% of players to do it is a majority, and as such a bigger deal than you probably want to believe. Also 10% of 3 million is still 300,000 people, and that's lowballing the number of active players at the moment, based on the last quarterly because it's late and I'm not going to look up the literal number.

TLDR, don't think throwing around percentages makes your statement better, or even remotely accurate.

While it helped some specific player type, it was a bit of a stretch. But a boost for a 15 once and have 14s for max level gear forever (even if your 14 failed)?

  16. #16
But we still have to drop a whole difficulty when a new raid comes out because the difficulty below the one we actually want to do has iLvl upgrades???

It's an illusion of new content. Same for the class changes. They're reimplementing some things that were in the previous expansions and call them new solutions for Shadowlands.

Although that change is decent and I don't really mind it.

at least they admited here that in their eyes 90 % of playerbase "is not worth " to have fun in game anymore

thats the design philosopy they took when making SL

only hardcore nolifers "are worth " to have fun in SL.

and they wonder why they lost 50% of playerbase in 2 months.

by the time 9.1 they will loose 80% and this pace.

    I approve of this change!

May as well be diablo seasons. They can't create new content so find a way to rehash the shit that went live with launch and make it viable for an entire expansion.

It's sad at this point that it's such a feature of an expansion.
