The thing that progressives don't get, is that they also bear that responsibility. Wanting to continually take more and more from the wealthy, while not even considering the idea of actually spending less, is simply an act of pure selfishness. This is the part that progressives will never come to realize, just how terribly selfish you truly are.

So why are you presenting this argument as if the wealthy are routinely taxed more and more by the federal government and the greedy progressives just want to soak the rich because they're selfish? The rich have been making records amounts of money, especially during the pandemic at the cost of everyone else, and yet their taxes keep going down. Meanwhile, the middle classes share of income has gone down over those same forty years and you're sitting here arguing that we should cut spending that they rely on to survive (healthcare, food stamps, social security) and they should also pay more in taxes.

People want to raise their taxes, including you. They want the wealthy to pay more, while not being willing to pay more, themselves. Or, have you not been paying attention in this thread?

What you think is progress... is simply selfishness.

My goal is to balance a budget, and stop pushing our decisions onto future generations. I don't want to raise taxes, that's not my solution. I'm simply stepping in, when others want to push all this increased burden on one group, and it's clear that this is about little more than jealousy and disdain.
