    Starting to heal

    Hello everyone,
I've played paladin for a long time now but always as a tank or a dps. But I really want to try healing for a while. I already checked plenty websites for advices but I need help for my UI.
Is there an easy way to display a frame showing my raid where I could use my spells with a mouse over using my shortcuts as I put them on the game action bars.
I hope I made myself clear, English is not my first language.
Thanks for your help and if you have other useful advice I'm glad to read them.
    May the Light protect you.

All you need are the blizz raid frames and mouse-over macros. Simple as that.

Me I like Healbot and Helium for small groups (I put my emergency spell on Helium, and use healbot to heal)

For bigs groups, Healbot is fine, Clique and Grid2 is good too.

Lot of people are using Vuhdo or Clique + Grid2, or ElvUI. For mouse over macros, the best is Clique I guess...

You can edit the raid frames under the Raid Profiles in the interface options.

To cast spells when you mouse over the frames, you can use mouseover macros. For example this (very basic) Holy Light macro:

    /cast [@mouseover] Holy Light

What are mouse over macros supposed to make easier? Honest question, I don't understand why can't you click target?

I use zero add-ons or macros, and I've been healing decently challenging content on different classes (M+ up to 18, rated PvP up to 2.4).

#1 you should always have an enemy in your targeted frame, to deal DPS, use kicks, CC or whatever
#2 you have to click the target and then the spell via keybind or with the mouse, if one is a clicker - although you can deactivate automatic self-heal in the options, which enables almost the same what a mouseover macro does (except you have to use left click once more on the playerframe, while a macro is just a button you press and you are done)

I would agree if gcd wasn't a thing, but right now I just switch targets during global cd downtime so I don't lose any uptime on, let's say, dps. Still not convinced.

Use Healbot. Basically makes healing braindead and allows you to contribute in better ways to the group.

Why waste all that time switching targets when you could be doing something else instead. Also using the end of a cast into an instant GCD into another Target without having to click frames instantly makes it a better option. You don't have to be convinced if you can't accept you are playing subpar.

Then it's fine for you, stick to it.
Some people like to improve their gameplay. You don't have to, nobody cares really.

OP asked for a mouseover solution, people are answering.

I don't understand, what exactly can you do during gcd? Other than switch targets.

Oh I want to improve my gameplay too, that's why I'm trying to figure out why mouse over macros would be better than target switching. Why be snarky about giving logical answers? If you don't know them then don't bother replying with toxic posts, nobody cares really.

Because you can spend your global cooldowns concentrating on something other than clicking frames

If it's working for you, then go for it - it's not needed to play. Would just reduce the needed "actions" by half. And that's pretty much all behind it. Easier for many people to use just half of the actions (sometimes even reducing the time to react, as you not have to click first if shit happened)

You don't have to do anything. It's not about doing something different during the GCD, it's limiting the small downtime from switching targets. If you're good at switching it's not much downtime, but while healing that can be the difference between someone living and dying, and it will add up over the course of a dungeon to less damage and healing overall. If you lose a tenth of a second each time you switch, that's 1 GCD lost every 15 casts if it's a 1.5s class, more during periods of increased haste. Additionally, just having one less thing to think about is usually beneficial when there's already so much to juggle as a healer.

Glad to see Healbot is still being used. Haven't played in Years.
