Just look at classic screenshots compared to live ones to see how much they improved the engine over time. It's like the ship of theseus thought experiment. If you replace bits of the engine over time till you replaced it all is it still the same engine used in classic.
Totally agree - btw I added more to my wishlist in the OP.

WoW2 sounds like such a gamble...

I'd just want them to slap on Transmog 2.0, with dyes/shades, touched up old gear textures, replaceable 3d armor pieces and maybe even unlocked armor/weapon types. As well as full class/race combo unlock. Maybe even spell tints the way green fire works.

    Real huge customization push.

WoW 2 imo should be a single player (with optional multiplayer) RPG, something like the Warcraft version of Skyrim. I know I would play the everliving #$@& out of such a game

Sadly this is a concept that the devs seem to have lost sight of in their quest to keep anyone and everyone busy.

I'd like the game to be less accessible and less streamlined. I want hours-long boss fights in days-long dungeons. Abolish the weekly reset system - make shit one-and-done but impossibly difficult. Only have an hour a day to play? May as well not bother with this one.

Basically, a game that's designed to fail, that will be fun for its duration.

Single-player RPG set in the warcraft universe is something I've wanted for the last 20 years. I wouldn't be able to stop myself from no-lifing it.

What you're wishing for, (the less accessible and less streamlined with hours-long boss fights...etc) would probably work well as a single player game with coop functionality. I think for WoW 10.0 (next expansion), all I would wish for is my new wishlist I just recently edited in the original/initial post. And that goes for any other MMORPG, not just WoW, that same list would be it for me on top of everything WoW currently has.

    - No more levels beyond 60 for retail considering we'll be leveling new toons on multiple classic versions at the same time.
    - SoloQ for 2v2 arenas only considering that would be the slowest way to get rated rewards, slow and steady works for casuals.
    - Expand communities system to all wow versions incl. classics to allow for the creation of a multi-wow version guild-like communities of horde/alliance players together at the bnet ID level.

Added the above to the original post.

looking at how retail have troubles doing good graphics, they shall at least start from scratch and maybe find new success with wow 2

If the majority of fools that keep supporting microtransactions will stop then we will see a single player style rpg. As long as those shitty mounts and stuff in the stores that require minimum effort to make keeps selling for an absurd amount of money then we will never see anything like that because it's not worth it.
Or they can do what Ubisoft did with the single player Ass Creed Valhalla and add half of the armor sets in game in the store for real money lol. But because of that i didn't buy the game.

beside graphics, 'retail' wow shares few to none with classic wow
for me idea of wow2 is dead, since we already in wow3 not 2, and not sure if that was for better or worse tbh
The beginning of wisdom is the statement 'I do not know.' The person who cannot make that statement is one who will never learn anything. And I have prided myself on my ability to learn

    Aesthetics:

    - Unreal 4 graphical update as well as much larger zones/cities.

    - Super deep character customization. Individual choices for every feature, small/medium/large, colors, age/weight/height sliders, the works.

    - A dye system like from the Witcher 3 for gear. Nothing outlandish, but maybe 10-15 new colors for all gear.

    - Reintroduction of glyphs, only much more expanded upon. Customizable spell colors and visuals, etc.

    - Mount Armor like in ArchAge

    Gameplay:

    - Reintroduction of many RPG elements such as: Racial traits, Resistance, Tier sets, Hybrid tax, Hunter deadzone, Reagents, positional attacks requirements, Attunements, Keys, Guild Perks, etc.

    - TBC/WoTLK-era Talent Trees. 1 Point per level, meaningful choices, and varied spec styles

    - Re-implementation of TBC/WoTLK era professions (specializations, alternate gearing paths, pve/pvp boons)

    - Reversal of mythic+ dungeon rules such as not being able to use profession items and toys in dungeons and raids

    - Reversal of camera zoom distance limitations

    - Reintroduction of 10 man raiding and removal of raid difficulties (LFR doesn't count). Every raid has easy, medium, and hard bosses with optional hardmodes.

    - Player Housing: At least Skyrim level where everything you collect in the world can be displayed/stored visually in your own home. Set displays, trophy room, taxidermy, home decor, paint, landscaping, etc. All obtained and unlocked through various gameplay

    - Player-created Content my own idea back in 2015. Basically a world-editor, so people can create their own instanced content. Warcraft 3 Custom Games proves how wildly successful this could be.

There's a lot more to expound upon. This is a good start, though.
WoW is a cartoon, it doesn't need realistic graphics. It's boring and lifeless. Idk why people want that so bad. It wouldn't fit WoW at all.

Hybrid tax is a big no. Like 1 out of 10 people who would actually want to play one could do it. That's not good game design, we are past beyond that. For sure they could spice up classes, some specs are boring af. I want seals, and exorcism back, god dammit.

1 point per level talent trees would be fine, if they actually were meaningful. +x% dmg and stuff is not meaningful or interesting. Varied styles would be nice, if they could actually implement it. As much as people are pretending there was such thing in classic, or tbc, there wasn't. Maybe a little bit of Wotlk.

Gatekeeping bosses by difficulty in the very same instance is not a good game design. I mean in some raids it kinda existed, as in the deeper you got the harder the bosses were, especially the last ones, but not to an extent that you are proposing. Normal, heroic, mythic mode works and is fine. Extra bosses like Sinestra in heroic Bastion of twilight would be nice tho.

World scaling replaces leveling process with rotating elite versions of zones that you can partake in as you desire.

Overall less effort pumped into making it feel like you are gaining linear power and more about exploring the changing world and seeing how your powers branch in differing directions as you complete different elite rotations in the world.

Torghast/proving grounds type dungeons that also rotate weekly / offer weekly chances to optimize comps.

Raids are still the "main story" but the game would revolve the rest of its content around how the continents change on a weekly basis, the repetitive stuff with different paint you do every week changes the world, the samenraid you run every week describes the lore from patch to patch.

14 ability limit you setup in town

    Separate gcd categories (utility/offense/defense)
This, or something very similar, is probably going to have to happen since we will be leveling multiple characters on different wow versions anyway. Retail needs to stand out and feel fundamentally different in every way it can.

"Poor design choice" a phrase Blizzard devs have been repeating ever since the push for systems started. Stuff nobody likes and nobody asked for, including many Blizzard devs.
Stay simple, stay gear-based please and let us go back to this awesome game before another one takes its place (likely to happen by Q4 2021 if nothing is done)!

Ex-players don't hate your game, they just cannot stand these systems. I am resubbed and spending 15 to 30min a day doing max two normal dungeons leveling up 40+ alts alternating between them and checking out different specs, not touching anything else in the game at the moment and probably will not until next expansion removes all systems and goes back to focusing on the basics, the basics the game nearly perfected at some point.
