Aegwynn (as Guardian) vs. Queen Azshara - Who would most likely win in a real battle?

Aegwynn and it's really not even close.

Aegwynn > Avatar of Sargeras > Archimonde > Azshara

The same heroes that defeated a weakened fallen avatar also defeated azshara when they were much weaker. Well, assuming that the combined power of the artifact weapons > the heart of azeroth at the time azshara was defeated, which is probably true by feats alone. The scepter of sargeras itself is probably comparable to or stronger than the HoA.

So yeah, it's a stomp in Aegwynn's favor even if we're talking Queen Azshara at her peak.

Not having read the whole thread, but want to add that one of the artifact weapons was apocalypse.

A random mage wilding apocalypse almost beat full power Aegwynn. So its a hard comparison how strong we were against the avatar

But she still almost beat Sargeras at Karazhan, even without her Guardian abilities. People forget that most arcane mages on Azeroth are likely stronger than those elsewhere - Azeroth is the last titan, and even potentially stronger than Sargeras. He is a corrupted titan - but he does not have infinite power. He is not omniscient nor invulnerable. I doubt casually destroying hundreds of planets within minutes is something within his capabilities, or else the Legion would have been obsolete long ago. Perhaps even the naaru could possibly match him in power if they really tried to fight him. If Broxigar was able to wound Sargeras, perhaps the most powerful mages in existence could also harm or weaken him.

The one who wins would be the one the plot needs to win at the time. Unless Aegwynn is the protagonist of that particular story, Azshara wins.

I voted Aegwynn but I think Azshara has a good chance. At her height of power when she was an elf she did also have access to the well of eternity which skews perception of how strong she actually was at that time.
