Been sleeping for one or two hours per day for the last two weeks

Basically: I heard the phrase people that sleep less live and enjoy life twice as long. While I can't say I necessarily enjoy living much now, I want more to do with my time.

So for the last few weeks I've tried to minimize sleeping to one or two hours per day, waking up to an absurdly obnoxious alarm then going immediately for a cold shower and coffee. At first it did not work out well at all and I lapsed into random naps, but so far now there's really been no ill feelings and I've accustomed to this lifestyle routine. Before I went through the usual full sleep cycles any adult does.

I'm wondering why the idea of minimizing sleep is not more popular and people simply enjoy sleeping. It's a waste of time and life to sleep and, while no one has to go to the same time lengths of 1 - 2 hours, less than 7 hours is still not popular.

The reason why 1 to 2 hours of sleep per night is not popular is because that kind of sleep cycle in the long term will kill you. Your mind needs to recharge through sleep and depriving it of sleep is dangerous. 1 to 2 hours a night is not enough sleep to allow your mind to fully recharge.

also known more commonly as sleep deprivation torture.

If you want some more help getting into the routine, try some light hearted terrorism and a trip to guantanamo bay

You think 7-8 hours is recommended just because “people simply enjoy sleeping”? What the actual fuck...

Of course sleeping 7-8 hours is just for shits and giggles just like drinking water or breathing air. Now sure some people claim that you must drink water or breathe air but those people just say that because they like those things. You don't really need to drink water, breathe air, or get 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

Well, 1-2 hours of sleep would definitely answer your post history. You brain has fried.

    1. why am I fine now then? I'm confused what you mean by long term. As long as I keep doing shit to keep myself busy, I never think about sleeping besides the alloted time of 12:30 AM

    2. Then what's the bare minimum for sleep unless that can't be defined for everyone

and for people saying I am torturing myself, I'm using the extra time to enjoy what people on this site presumably do like playing more games and watching movies.

Never said it is one of those instant snap your fingers and you are dead things and sure you might feel fine now but it will catch up with you. You will be less responsive, you will get more irritable and prone to mood swings, your body's immune system will become weakened making you more susceptible to illnesses, you will gain weight, and other symptoms of sleep deprivation. The longer you deprive your brain of proper sleeping can lead to more severe symptoms like hallucinations and paranoia because your brain is breaking down due to it's inability to properly recharge.

You should take better care of your body and that means to do things in moderation. Just because you like playing video games or watching movies maybe you shouldn't do them for 12-14 hours of your day after I assume to be 8 hours of working and only 2 hours of sleeping. I like to eat food but eating everything and anything I want all the time is horribly unhealthy. Humans generally love to have sex and even if they could keep an erection up constantly they couldn't do it all the time because their body would break down.

    1. I'm not sure if it's a symptom of sleep deprivation. I've been irritable since I was a teenager. I've also yet to know what sleep deprivation is in the context of this situation. I eat fine and it's not like I have a drill sergeant demanding I wake up and do shit. It's totally of my own volition.

    2. something I've been proud of is I have completely deprived myself of sexual desires in the process of trying this routine out. Like that's a major reason people sleep so much, they love sex or watching porn, both release endorphins that make you sleep more or want to sleep.

Overall though, all I was seeking out was if there are other people that minimize sleep in their lives and how they would do it compared to what I'm doing.

Lack of sleep will kill you faster.. You can't do anything without being legally impaired. If you were older you'd find out fast why some need a nap in the afternoon.

Was a study where lack sleep will raise likelihood of dementia when you're older...

You will never "get accustomed" to sleeping 1-2 hours of sleep. It won't immediately kill you...but you are doing damage to yourself both physical and mental.

But hey, this isn't a medical forum and we should not be discussing that here.

I get the feeling this thread will be people say something along the lines of "this isn't a good thing to do OP" and the OP always answering "why not? I am awsome! Never better! Me right you wrong! Prove me wrong!"

When all the while no one really know that the OP is doing what they say. As in no way to know if it's truth or a lie. I mean if they suddenly gained mind powers and feel into trillions of dollars because of thier sleeping pattern or simply into a phycotic delussion we wouldn't know. But we would hear about how great it is either way. Because that's how these threads work. The.. self satisfying, look at me, wish you were as good as me tails from the derp derp zone.

I don't know why anyone thinks the OP is actually only getting 1-2 hours of sleep. They're a prodigious liar.
