I would say

Fortnite is terrible.

Cyberpunk was not that bad ( also not that great). But not that 2 out of 10 most people give it. A solid 7 out of 10 even with some bugs. And they patched it real nicely. And people are going after it for no reason. While ubisoft and bethesda get away with worse.

But what if you look at it from the perspective of how you felt back then, not now.
It was jaw dropping back then, that's how I compare them, from the first time I played, not playing them now with what I know.

And yes, the thieves guild and dark brotherhood are massively better than the skyrim versions of those.

Whenever someone feels the need to trot out the "what if you look at it from the perspective back then" it wasn't good "back then" either.

Game mechanics that were well designed in the first place do not age anywhere near as poorly as Oblivion has, there's RPGs that are 20-30 years old that still hold up better than Oblivion does.

To a degree, there are still several older games that I find play quite well today even, that are almost 30 years old. Take Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG:LotSS, both are still so well loved because the game mechanics aged very well, and they are still fun to play today. I realiaze that RPG mechanics aren't exactly the most complex of things, but even wow that is 15 years old has one of the better combat systems in my opinion even compared to newer MMOs, and is a part of the reason it is the king still (despite what the negative fucks in this site say).

So the reason why I think SSDs are overrated is because I see it as a luxuary and not something that is *required* to have a good gaming experience.
Yeah, it's nice to have a 10 second PC bootup compared to a minute. Yeah it's nice to only spend 5 seconds on WoW load screen instead of 30 seconds...But come on, normally you boot up your PC once or twice a day and if your toxic is WoW, the load times aren't bad enough to make you quit the game.
Don't get me wrong, it's awesome to have quick load times. Personally I ONLY have SSDs and I'll never go back. I see it as a luxuary and why I think it's overrated I feel is proven by the reaction of some of the replies I got.

Zelda BOTW should not have been a Zelda-game, they should have introduced a new Nintendo mascot and kept the Zelda-franchise closer to its roots.

Its a big empty world with cool physics.

The only way you would think skyrim is the best, is if you are too young to have played oblivion when it released.

Skyrim was big and gorgeous. That's about it. It was so simplified and basic compared to the previous two entries. I found it boring as fuck and way to easy. OB and MW are definately better games and far better RPGs.

TES and FO have followed a similar path. The bigger they got the simpler and less of what they used to be, they became so they could appeal to the masses.

It was? I didn't find it jaw dropping back then either... their gameplay haven't really changed since morrowind, so it wasn't the combat. Graphics wasn't anything to be impressed by, I mean at the time it was good, but not jaw dropping. When we talk about jaw dropping I think of like Far Cry, that came out 2004. Or hell, the fameous Crysis, those were jaw dropping games at the time of their release when it came to graphics.
I don't mean to slam your opinion, but there are 2 ways to take what "jaw dropping" means. Either by it's technical or innovative feats, or by a players own personal hype and love for the game. And since you use "how you felt back then" i take it it is the latter.

Then we have the fact that they basically removed the entire RPG aspect of leveling your character, since it actually made the game harder. At the time it was a neat idea, to make the world relevant at all levels, but due to poor implementation I would argue they made it regress in the RPG aspect of things.

Well yeah its a luxury..but by that logic so is ANYTHING that you can't get right out of a box pc from wal-mart. IE if your PC is better than this it's a luxury.

Sure, guess it was impressive when I was 15, but loads of things were that weren't very good in hindsight, Fable for example. Whereas my 15 years old self also loved games I still love today such as KOTOR 1/2, WoW, Baldur's Gate, Super Mario 64 or Majora's Mask. Mechanically Oblivion is a pretty poor RPG except for the great spell crafting, and level scaling IMO utterly ruins what RPG elements it does have. At least in Skyrim I can feel like I'm getting stronger and more powerful, regardless of its simplistic RPG elements and progression system, while in Oblivion it felt like I was playing catch-up to a world increasingly filled to the brim with giant HP bars.

Morrowind's the better ES game anyway, even if its core gameplay is just atrocious barring spellcasting which even then is infamously clunky.

RTS is not a dead genre, it's a niche for sure but there is profit to be made. It could also benefit from being more casual friendly if you look at SC2 being the latest big succesful RTS.

last of us 2 is better than the first one. The first one was predictable and over-rated(still a good game). 2nd one had more emotion once you got past the pandering parts at the beginning(and i agree with those who complain about that part, but the game is significantly better than the first in every way).

Zelda has horrible boring gameplay. Every last game. I will never understand why it is liked so much.

Witcher 3 was massivly overhyped and only liked so much because you could bang different hot chicks. Basically a edgy dating simulator with softcoreporn drisled above it.

Asians can't make compelling believable stories in games and most of them try to hide behind boobs and miniskirts.
