Want the game you once loved to return? there is a way!

    CLASSIC!

When you first make a toon, that sense of "omg that staff is so expensive 4 silver!"
"OOOF hes a big boy better run" (level 9 spider)
Sticking ruined level scraps on the ah and absolutely buzzing when they sell for 2silver each, heading back out to that boar farm to get rich.

    ZONES!
you cant just rock straight into westfall as level 8 and have everything around you spoonfed to suit your level, wander into the wrong zone, you die.

    VERSATILE TALENT TREES!
3 specs where you can balance how you see fit. not just "3 options" where there is actually only one option because its so op. course you have the talents that are much needed but already even at low level im seeing the versatility when picking, you take your op talents then where you put the rest depends on your playstyle which can make you unique!

    STORMWIND!
Remember when stormwind was bustling? it still is on classic, a CRAZY amount of people at peak times, no more running round the centre of an empty oribos.

    TIME!
need an idea of just how spoonfed and watered down retail wow is?
world record 0-60 on retail 6 expansions is 21hours
0-60 world record is 36 hours on classic

Now bare in mind classic is the original expansion only, and retail is 6 expansions shoved into one and you see just how watered down retail wow is when it comes to actually playing the game and world content. pissweak with no soul, the part of the game that a large portion of players loved (and quit because it went) still exists on classic.

You have to team up with people which naturally forms friendships. no more empty braining standing afk in oribos untill your dungeon lobby fills, you have to use the community chat to try find ppl. due to no dungeon finder and the ability to just disrespect ppl and find a new grp the attitude of people is (while not perfect) far more respectful.

no endgame gear handed to you for free. blue items once again have value, instead of getting yet another bis 226 item you get a blue and your happier with that crappy little item than you are with all the 226 weekly spoonfeeding because the difference? ITS RARE!

For a long time i hated what wow had become, if you feel the same make the switch over to classic and you will not regret it one tiny bit. so much nostalgia.

The downside? your going to get hooked on that wowcrack all over again.

Current played time on classic 4days 14 hours level 50
if i made a new toon on retail wow for this long i would be max level 220+ and 2k+ the game effectively null and void waiting for next patch (which i did on 3 toons before realising retail wow is just a watered down soul less shell of what it once was)

If this post gets one person to switch its done its job. leave all the casuals in there little bubble where they believe they earnt there 226 bis gear and by pressing there 1 button in a build that picks it self.....they are pro (apparently)

The game I loved is gone, never to return again. The tryhards took over Classic and TBC Classic, too.

I play other games that let me play the way i wish to, and not get pushed into doing things I don't enjoy.

Yes, I played most of a year /played in Vanilla (not Classic), and I have no want or need to play it again.

    YMMV.

Stopped reading at "VERSATILE TALENT TREES!".

People seem to have this idea that because you could put points where you wanted, you had more choice. This is nonsense. There were cookie cutter builds, and speccing anything else was basically just gimping yourself. With the current talent system in retail, it may seem you have less choice, but you actually have more. While you only get to pick from 3 options per row, there are way more combinations that work well for different situations. Sure, there are default (or cookie cutter) builds, but they're not always optimal, as was the case back in vanilla.

You stopped reading, so your closed minded then. you do realise the "choices" retail gives you are as follows:

insanely op - pissweak - pissweak
    irrelivent - irrelivent - irrelivent
pisswweak - insanely op - pissweak
    irrelivent - irrelivent - irrelivent
    ok - bis - pissweak

thats it. thats your "choice" same for covenents

On classic of course you have the "must select" options, but there is a lot of choice options that unlike retail arent actually irrelivent they are all pretty useful and you have to choose something that might come in handy. on retail some of the options are just irrelivent and barely effect anything at all.

Think it takes a certain kind of player to enjoy what wow was. i thoroughly enjoyed having to look around the world at where i was going instead of having legit the whole world changing to suit me incase i suck.

    Lmao no.

    NO LFG!
Do you love searching up to an hour for a tank with no other choice than to spam the unreadable lfg global channel?

    SHIT BALANCE!
Are you ready to get beaten by warlocks pressing 1 button over and over again?

    UGLY GRAPHICS!
Just look at those polygons babý! go count em!

    TIME WASTING MECHANICS!
Don't you love drinking/eating every other pack for 20+ seconds, 60% flying and killing dozens of mobs for a simple fetch quest?

    BORING MANDATORY GRINDS!
You better get your attunements or you don't get to play the game shithead!

See what i did there? I could go on and on.

Nope. I stopped reading because you claim classic has a more versatile talent system when it doesn't. I can't speak for all classes because I don't play every single class in the game, but your "insanely op - pissweak - pissweak" garbage is just that, garbage. Most talents on each row work well in different situations, for example one working better for raids while another is better for mythic+. Of course retail talents aren't "perfect", and I'm not saying they are, but claiming the classic talent system is more versatile is just genuinely incorrect.

You are suited to retail mate, you want everything handed to you which is cool.

Everything about what you wrote just screams GIVE ME LOOTS I DESERVE END GAME TOO but you dont want to put the work in. turn up to a raid unenchanted and ask "anyone got feast"

Its GREAT that classic keeps players like you away. im grateful for it. enjoy retail buddy! and good luck with your weekly spoonfeed of bis end game gear casino. gather up gather up! free bis loots for everyone!

Gave it a proper try, but was immensely demotivated by seeing how absurdly tryhard the endgame was. I was hoping with everyone knowing what to do and so many resources available, it would be a much more chill experience. I mean for goodness sake people finished Molten Core in under a week with many of them not even 60 yet. It wasn't hard content.

Yet the tryharding was so obscene people were forcing guildmates to hoard world buffs and then just NOT PLAY THE GAME until raid night?! To the point Blizzard had to intervene and add an item to fix a problem the players themselves created with the chronoboom displacer?!

Ludicrous. If it wasn't for that, I would've muscled through the fact I never actually liked Classic leveling for anything but the fact it had class quests (which is why I liked the cata revamp and Legion) to see that endgame content I had never seen before, but the playerbase made it clear I wasn't going to anyway. I didn't have enough time to dedicate to classic raiding when I was a kid, I'm now an adult with a full time job. I gave up.

I have no reason to think BC will be better.

Lol oh brother. So this is just a game vs game thread and you just insult people who don't agree with your warped reality of what classic and retail are. Cool.

classic isn't the answer to fixing retail. it's an escape for people who are depressed at best in this case. you'd still be paying the same money to the people who are tone deaf, out of touch, and refuse to change. fixing wow will take a new management team and possibly even a new ceo.

yes true i agree with you regarding that, one working better for raids etc, but looking at raiding alone, what choices do you have? very very few. m+ what choices do you have? very very few. pvp? i found pvp a bit more versatile tbh but for pve my "garbage" is true.

I think you might be trolling. But if not, then please explain what you love about having the next 10 points predetermined because you need 5% hit and 5% crit....all at 1% increments. The talent trees weren't/aren't nearly as dynamic as you think. You also refuse to explain why they're attractive, choosing instead to explain why retail sucks.

Hey Classic Andy, Retail Andy here, i actually play tbc and enjoy the experience overall.

My hyperbolic and sarcastic point was that tbc is far from that promised holy land some think and praise it to be, posts like yours are just hella obnoxious and actually kinda destructive to the game, you might just also awaken way too high expectations to players that want to give it a go and will, like me, find flaws and old ass game design with a minimum of critical thinking.

The retail developers are just not smart enough to stop doubling down on community destroying parts of the game and Classic is like watching Game of Thrones a second time through; that first magical experience cannot be recaptured.

It was a hell of a ride when it was at its best but the fat lady is done singing and she is dying of diabetes.

This. I remember my feral talent tree from Wrath clearly. I put 2 points to reduce mangle's energy cost by 4 if I was the mangle bot (sad me). Or 2 points to increase the stun duration of bash by 1 second if we had one.
The most difficult thing for people to do is objectively look at something they don't like and be able to accept that it is not bad, that other people like it, and if it was changed to the way they'd like it that other people would not like it and want it changed back. The second most is to receive something they didn't want or ask for and be grateful for it, not immediately demand what they wanted instead.

its not a fix, its a complete reset back to what it was. its a different game targeting different audiences. im just pointing out to the oldschool players that havent tried classic yet that if you miss stormwind heaving with people....it still is on classic.

I was shocked the first time i went to stormwind at peak times, literally hundreds of people the ah and surrounding areas PACKED. like it used to be. no boost spam, the server communicates on /4 lfg is constantly rolling just like retail trade "WTS BOOST" only its people forming parties.

well my favourite expansion was wotlk and im thoroughly enjoing tbc im not even max level yet, will get to relive it even if only for a short while.

Sure its not as powerful as the first time but its still got id say 80% of its weight which is a lot better than the 5% of its weight on pissweak retail.

We don't need more retail vs retro servers fighting than we already have.
