Did Gilneas and Kul Tiras have a good relationship? What do they think of each other?

Most of the Kul Tirans have a very similar accent to the Gilneans, probably because they shared the same ancestors, and the Kul Tirans were originally from the Gilnean peninsula.

But what was their relationship for most of their history? Were they allies or enemies for the most part? Were they kind of like the United Kingdom and the United States today, or rather like the United Kingdom and Ireland?

Genn was probably sent to Kul Tiras, likely because he and his people, long isolated themselves, were probably the only kingdom in the Alliance which the Kul Tirans could easily relate to - and possibly have some remnant of affinity towards and respect for. It's also possible that he knew Katherine, as he personally knew Daelin, her husband, for many years; they certainly at least knew of each other, and he was the one who persuaded her to go seek out Jaina.

It's really interesting to ponder - perhaps the Kul Tirans could allow Greymane's people to resettle in their lands, if the Forsaken still occupies Gilneas, or if it is still blighted or abandoned for whatever reason, could allow them to reconnect somewhat and share their experiences with each other.

"You see, there is balance in all things. Wisdom etched in our very fur: Black and white. Darkness and light. When the last emperor hid our land from the rest of the world, he also preserved...our ancient enemy, the mantid. So it is with your Alliance and your Horde. They are not strong despite one another; they are strong BECAUSE of one another. You mistake your greatest strength for weakness. Do you see this?"

Genn Greymane and his people will never settle in Kul Tiras, they will eventually go back to Gilneas once the writers finally allow the races of Warcraft to claim back their home (such is the case with poor Gnomes and many Blood Elves too).

As for the relations between the two kingdoms there aren't many details but given Gilneans' longtime proud and isolationist attitude under Archibald and Genn Greymane's rule we can assume that they weren't very good until recently, with Daelin and Genn Greymane surely not getting along very well before due to their opposite attitudes both before, during and after the Second War; though there was trade between the two kingdoms until Genn decided to close his country from the rest of the world.

Last Kul Tiras would have heard from the kingdom of Gilneas before we show up in BFA, they had left the Alliance entirely and secluded themselves behind their wall. I don't think that Kul Tiras even knew Gilneas was out and part of the Alliance again until Genn shows up when the player basically gets in under the authority of the Harbor Master. Without his specific allowance, Gilneas and the entire rest of the Alliance seemed like it was barred from even entering Kul Tiras. Trading and being housed by them seemed entirely out of the question. But, once Kul Tiras joins the Alliance basically under the now-rule of Jaina Proudmoore with her basically reclaiming the throne and all authority of Kul Tiras, Kul Tiras is now in a position to open its borders and harbors to other races of the Alliance in totality. Other races were already being friendly with Kul Tiras before the Alliance shows up, however, such as Jinyu and Tuskarr and even Vrykul.

As far as Gilneas goes, some citizens from the older wars may hold some resentment for Gilneas for leaving the Alliance for a time. But now that they're allies, those grudges wouldn't hold too much weight anymore. But I imagine there might be some disagreement between the two as to who is more worthy and who is seen as more a traitor than the other. Gilneas may hold Kul Tiras as much to blame for their absence as Kul Tiras may for Gilneas. With both of them basically isolated from the Alliance for so long, there's a lot of bad blood that could be held. Not much of it I imagine would be too personal, but it would be more a statement of general affairs and pre-conceived biases and hatreds. It may be a point of contention for Gilneans and Kul Tirans to have to prove themselves to each other through hard work and on the field of battle so that they can trust each other one again.

I imagine Jaina wouldn't tolerate any in-fighting. It would probably naturally solve itself out, as with the Horde an ever-present threat, Gilneas and Kul Tiras will have to continually fight alongside each other in skirmishes where they would prove their mettle to each other. There may be some small inferred biases, like calling each other mongrels like dogs, or calling another a sea rat or a no-good pirate... before they get to know each other better, anyway. May be some growing pains with Gilneas and Kul Tiras, but they also have a lot in common -- like with Druidism, their history of War, and in general their mutual hatred of The Horde for what they've done.

If Gilneas ever actually managed to rebuild, relying on Kul Tiras for strengthening their navy and teaching them things like blessing their ships could lead to Worgen learning ways of Shamanism to strengthen their voyages to better traverse their terrifyingly dangerous waters around Gilneas - as they're fraught with rocky dangers. And especially since the Cataclysm, Gilneas would need all the help they could get to retake their land. Tidesages could play a crucial role in Gilneas being able to take back its mainland.
