Funny you post this animation after this from today: https://www.ign.com/articles/bobby-kotick-salary-vote

"Activision-Blizzard shareholders have just barely approved the company's controversial executive compensation plan, which will pay CEO Bobby Kotick’s $154.6 million."

    Blizzard is gone.

Why? Who cares about this dude?
I have never seen him speak or have any interaction with WoW.
    Does he even care?

If Ion Hazzikostas was getting paid that number, we would have something to talk about.
The fact that this company is able to pay the CEO that much means quite the opposite of what you think.

It means they are very much here.

Lol desperate for clicks are you? Not enough to leave the thread on the forums open, now you're posting this drek on the front page as well? What's the next frontier, linking some "Asmongold reacts" videos? Dunno why I am even here posting this.

The animation is just an opinion - and expresses a little of the reality of the situation.

Anyone who takes it as a documentary is missing the creativity and feelings that went into it

He's the boss of Ion. All that money going to him could have gone to the 800 people they fired.

I'm amazed I have to explain why this jerk making more money reflects on all the games as a whole.

man aint mike morhaime the worst? he took cheque after cheque all the while firing 600 blizzard employees, a lot of them developers.

much better then kotik who fired 800 people, only 137 of them blizzard, and none of them developers, the rest of the 800 were other teams.

Same thing goes for every corporation, CEO pay is fucked everywhere, its not just a blizzard thing, its every publisher that isnt super indie (and the super indie games, even when their gamplay is top tier like unrailed or among us, or stardew, cant compete on production quality)

CEOs will make absolutely obscene money until america gives up on its capitalist shithole ideal, which wont ever happen.

I miss the friendships and community i had in earlier versions of wow, the money grab really doesnt bother me, its just sad all my friends have left, but they have left mostly for good reasons (marriage, kids, career, etc). Getting mad at the boost is a little silly.

Seems like the video triggered some people. All I see is truth. That was EXACTLY my experience. Standing all alone at the end. People don't even tell you goodbye anymore. Friendships aren't real. They are beneficial transactions.

Regardless of what is going on behind the scenes, the video depiction of the cities and friendslist dwindling in population is not a lie.

Not sure I'd call expressing your opinion about a franchise you care about a backstab.
If you supported someone for something they did years back but don't like the direction they're going today - you've backstabbed them?

Thumbs up to everything you said. The video is shockingly accurate.
@Villager720: In answer to your question, no. I would not classify that as backstabbing.

They are depicting both a dwindling playerbase and a greedy company who is out for your money.
    Oof, kinda harsh (>_<)

    Blizzard is gone.
from the looks of it they just renewed his contract which makes perfect sense given how much the stock has grown under him.
The investors criticized Activision Blizzard for extending Kotick's employment contract through 2023, a time period that they say is too short to meaningfully reduce his pay. Proxy advisor Institutional Shareholder Services Inc (ISS) had also recommended against Kotick's pay, calling it "outsized."
Activision Blizzard also said its stock performance has been "exceptional." Executive pay typically is linked to how well a company performs.

that's not how this works He gets paid in stock to keep him invested in the company as the better he does the better the stock he owns does. but even if they were paying employee's with stock which no company does it wouldn't have gone to the 800 laid off as no company hangs onto that number of unneeded staff with no work to do.
All I ever wanted was the truth. Remember those words as you read the ones that follow. I never set out to topple my father's kingdom of lies from a sense of misplaced pride. I never wanted to bleed the species to its marrow, reaving half the galaxy clean of human life in this bitter crusade. I never desired any of this, though I know the reasons for which it must be done. But all I ever wanted was the truth.

More than that. Blizzard worked with them and released an official skin on the Starcraft re-release with the same art style.

Good luck explaining real world to people who think Kotick should be fired (despite making ton of $ for Acti-Blizzard), cause they don't like SL/modern WoW.

You really didn't find anyone you enjoyed playing with so much that you exchanged numbers and still talk to?

He was paid to do that blizzcon animation.
This new video has been done after that contract.
No backstabbing here just expressing your own feelings/opinion.
