Great Vault Expectations - First Two Weeks of July

Great Vault Expectations - First Two Weeks of July
Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
We’ve seen some questions from players who’d like to know specifics about how endgame loot and the Great Vault will operate over the next two weekly resets, so we’ve prepared the following outline.

    Next Week

Following the next weekly reset on July 6 in this region, the Great Vault will offer rewards exactly as it has in previous weeks. Between now and then, defeating raid bosses in Castle Nathria, completing Season 1 Mythic Keystone Dungeons, and earning Honor in rated PvP will generate those rewards. Season 2 will begin on July 6, but the Great Vault looks back at previous efforts to determine the item levels of rewards.

With the July 6 weekly reset marking the start of Season 2, all Mythic+ Rating will be reset to 0, and all Mythic+ Keystones will be lowered by an additional 3 levels to account for the overall increase in dungeon difficulty.

Mythic+ players who wish to receive the best rewards from the Great Vault for their initial Season 2 efforts will want to complete Mythic+ Dungeons at +15 or higher difficulty the week of July 6-12.

Mythic+ end-of-run drops will cap at Mythic+10 throughout the week of July 6-12, and Season 2 Rated PvP gear upgrades are initially capped at Rival (base item level 239) until Mythic Difficulty Sanctum of Domination is available.

    The Second Week of July

After Season 2 has been underway for a week, the Great Vault will offer upgraded rewards following the weekly reset on July 13 in this region. This includes rewards earned in the Sanctum of Domination raid, Unchained Gladiator’s PvP gear, and higher item level Mythic+ rewards.

As a reminder, you’re only eligible for Great Vault raid loot from bosses that you have previously defeated on the difficulty you’re looking for. For example, you must defeat Heroic Kel’thuzad before his loot will show up as a Heroic quality selection in the Great Vault.

    Mythic+ Gearing in Season 2

We’ve made a few small adjustments to the item-level curve for Season 2 Mythic+ rewards, to make Mythic+ gear progression more comparable to early raiding rewards at some levels of difficulty. Here are the item levels of gear drops and rewards:

    Mythic+15ilvl 210ilvl 207ilvl 226ilvl 236ilvl 233ilvl 252

The most notable adjustment is that now, a Mythic+15 or higher is required to get the maximum item level from the Great Vault, while Mythic+14 or higher provides the highest end-of-run item level.

Thanks for reading. We’ll see you 'round the Vault!

The Great Vault is a garbage system and killed my interest in gearing up.

I want to get my loot upgrades from things I kill, not from a fucking safe in the capital city.

With ilvl 252 gear you can kill mobs in open world so much faster.

Agreed, tricks Blizzard do to keep people playing an rpg are just killing what little is left of the rpg experience and making it into a slot machine skinner box. If I wanted that same dull soulless look that people in casinos have then I'd play a pure rng game.

    1) they've had the system for at least the previous 2 expansions, the great vault is just bad luck protection.

    2) It's not like they lowered the relative level of the gear you're able to acquire through this method. Heroic is still the same relative quality to Mythic, etc. It's just a chance for people like you who are incapable of doing top tier content with the gear they get from just killing things to get additional gear and increase the level of difficulty they are able to complete. It's definitely not required if you're not a bad player, it just fills in those missing gaps.

    3) If you're really that morally opposed to it just don't loot it. Nobody is forcing you to loot it. It's completely possible to gear up and complete mythic raids or to get a top rating in pvp without looting it, so just don't do it. The only reason you would need to loot it is if you're too bad at playing the game and can't progress by just killing things.

Imagine making an account just to reply to me so you can defend Blizzard. The absolute state.

Anyway, your terrible post doesn't contradict anything I typed.
The Vault is a much more efficient way of gearing up than any other avenue of the game and certainly compared to BfA's weekly chest, which has catapulted it to be the main gearing avenue for players rather than actual combat-related content, compared to BfA's weekly chest, which was a supplemental avenue for gearing up.

Your are completely incapable of actually understanding my rationale so I will advise you not to further waste your time in replying to me.

Given how they are annoying hp sponges, it would certainly speed things up to waste less time for the daily grind.
MMO-C should be glad that the British Empire is no more, because they'd want a piece of all the copium trade here.
Angry players come to the forums to complain about the game... but what loser only comes to the forums to complain about the forums and its users?
Felating Blizzard too eagerly may lead to oxygen deficiency and worst case asphyxiation. Long-term effects range from delusions up to cerebral necrosis.

But it's not. I've killed mythic Shriekwing once this expansion, yet my overall item level is about 224 or 225. If the GV were meant to be bad luck protection, why do easy level M+s (10 is relatively easy) give weekly loot on par with heroic Denathrius (not relatively easy)? M+ 15 should drop 226 gear to match the GV , or the GV should give 210 to match an M+15. That the GV loot is a full tier better than M+ loot -- while nice -- it generally defeats any point to M+ loot. You're running M+ to get something good in the GV. That's not the ideal scenario.

(Yeah my numbers are based on S1 - the argument holds)

The GV ilvl currently is the same as mythic Castle, it is basically a time gate since raid gear (226) drops on a weekly lockout the mythic+ equivalent (+15) is also a weekly lockout. I mean I guess they could just change mythic+ to weekly lockout. Guessing that'd make people more angry though.

I could see a happy medium. +15s dropping Mythic quality loot is a no go in my book. Maintaining a Mythic raid roster for many of us is a herculean task compared to M+.
While I'm happy to wipe on a progression boss for 100+ pulls, that shit deserves better loot payout than any singular M+ key.
Maybe if +15s dropped Heroic level loot with a +5 ilvl Warforge, then end of week gave more options based on number of runs? I dunno man, it's a fine line.

I'd rather in the next expansion, they just get rid of this kind of stuff, and bring back badge gear. The only bad luck protection that wasn't overblown and stupid.

    They will never do this.

Well may this be a lesson to everyone who ignored and rationalized all the signs along the way. Now just shut up, do a dungeon and wait for your weekly spin in the +16ilvl casino.

Or just raid Mythic since Domination slots work in M+ :^)
Imagine the best loot for your given activity not coming from that activity? WoW 2021 /s

Can you though? I thought they have them scaling with item level.

It would just be that your first M+ of the week drops loot and no other M+ drops loot for you until the next weekly reset.

For me personally this would be fine, seeing as I run M+ as a means for early gearing in a new raid tier.
However, it would totally kill a fun way of alt gearing.
I actually like M+ when it's goofing off having a laugh with the boys while we drag an alt or casual buddy along sub 15 keys.
Being able to trade trash M+ drops to someone in blues has its appeal, like power leveling people in a new Diablo season.

this is the only way I'd go back to unforced/non-HIGHLY-incentivized group content.

You are getting loot from killing things.

Really? Seems like the loot is generated based on killing raid bosses, m+ dungeon enemies, and other players.
