    Old games are the best.

It's Dyson Sphere Project. It just is. It's an absolutely bonkers triumph of the "production management" genre, with a ridiculous scale and beautiful visuals.

It can be punishing if you're new to Fromsoft games, but once you get your bearings, every other game will feel like you're in kindergarten.
I would like to try it (I've 30 hours in to Dark Souls 1 currently), but too bad they haven't ported it to PC. I'm actually curious about that game, more than any other From Software game. Dark Souls is a bit iffy on my books, has things that are great and things I really don't like.

Dark Souls has set the standard in that category (cough Demon's Souls was actually first), but Bloodborne has perfected every aspect of it. It's chock full of moments of greatness.

It's a real crime we will never experience Bloodborne on PC, the PS4 version runs it decently but the framerate is not that great (24-30 fps). The PS5 runs it at a stable 30 fps, but there's an unofficial patch for 4k/60fps. And yes, I honestly think it's worth buying a PS4 or PS5 just for Bloodborne.

Im playing Metro 2033 Redux(a remaster of the old version) right now. Theres a remastered version of the second game too I believe.

Anyway. If you like dark & scary games, I would recommend it. It can be tense at times, from the surface of Moscow to the tunnels far below. Decent story too and theres atleast 3 games!

Noone mentioning Neir: Automata as a great game is a crime.

    Morrowind
    Diablo 1

I would like a PS5 to play PS4 games I've missed, plus upcoming interesting PS5 exclusives, plus it would be nice to have 4K blu-ray player. I would buy PS4 Pro if it had 4K blu-ray support, but it doesn't. So maybe in couple of years I'll get a PS5.

Currently replaying Nioh 1 with 2 following afterwards to get to experience the DLC's in full. I have to say they are wonderful games with a good amount of challenge where you could put hundreds of hours into.

    Agreed.

The original FFVII and X, agreed. Have not played remake, have played X-2 and do not recommend. The playstyle and tone are a dramatic shift away from FFX and I was disappointed.

I'll have to look into 1, then.

This style of game needs to come with a caveat, not because they're bad, but they are not what I call "standard" video games at all. You just don't want to start playing one of these expecting something it's not, is all.

Agreed, Bioshock 1 is also very strong candidate and re-released for Switch at least.

The Mass Effect series has...its strong points, no question. Because of the way it plays, it follows from ME1 including imported saves, and especially ends, ME2 is a masterclass and one of my top 10 of all time. Not going to spoil, but ME3...well, you write a story differently when you know it's the last one, and ME3 drips with that. I have only played the original, not updated, endings, and while I don't hate it with the zeal I've seen online, I do agree the ending was a significant downturn from the rest of the ME1-2-3 story. At this point, the trilogy is as good as it's going to get, just be prepared for the peak to be in the middle.

Andromeda was an enormous letdown for me. I can't recommend it at all.

I will add, even though I feel I don't have to, Breath of the Wild. I would have preferred to add Ocarina of Time, but I don't know that it's available on current systems. If you play Breath of the Wild, then Age of Calamity can/should be considered as an extension, rather than a separate game.

I will also add, with a caveat, Hades and Deathloop, which I feel are similar enough to each other to share the concern. Not everyone likes "supposed to fail but get stronger anyway" as a game mechanic. Both games are heavily invested in that playstyle, which if you don't like, will keep you from enjoying the rest of the incredible story and gameplay. As a long-term WoW player, the grind doesn't bother me, and the action in both is fast and fluid.

Co-op is an official mode of starcraft 2.
Its two players vs the ai but with campaign style missions/objectives (escorting trains, killing a super boss hybrid, defending against endless infested, cool stuff like that), which makes it infinitely less stressful then pvp ladder. You play "Commanders", which are like unique co-op only races that are purpously tuned to be insanely op and awesome.

One commander spawns endless waves of alien infantry. Kerrigan, another commander, is physically present as an overwhelming hero unit that can solo entire bases, and she gets an army too. Each mission gives you xp, even if you lose, and gaining levels unlocks lots of upgrades and new units for your commanders until they become true powerhouses by the end.

It can be done with a friend, or with fast random queueing (around 10-30 secs). Its extremely casual friendly because you can pick difficulties and the lower ones are very lenient for new players, not to mention that a skilled player can easily carry a new one even in "brutal", the highest "regular" difficulty.

For advanced players, you can keep leveling more commanders, or you can level their "prestiges" (sidegrades which strenghen some aspect of them but reduce another, for example Kerrigan has a prestige which changes her abilities to more long range and control-based rather then her melee and damage focus).

...Or you can do the weekly mutations, which are additional affix-like effects to a regular map for bonus xp. For example, one mutation makes all enemies instantly ressurect once, when they die. Another mutator adds powerful enemy hero units to each attack wave with dangerous abilities you must play around. Another has flying zones of blizzard (pun unintended) slowly drift around the map that slow and damage your units if you're in them.

Its been up for a couple years, and yet i think its one of the most beautifully designed pieces of gameplay that blizz has ever made. While they sadly stopped further development, this doesnt stop people from putting in years just to master their favourite commanders better, or unlock prestiges that look particularly fun.

Honestly, its the only new piece of gameplay "modern blizz" made since overwatch and m+ that i truly valued, and by far the best of them.

2 was ok, it didn't need to be a DE game, however the new ones Human Revolution, The Missing Link and Mankind Divided are all really good games too.

The complete narrative between them all sets up the original with JC perfectly.

The Adventures of Alundra was an amazing game with some really difficult puzzles. You do need to be prepared for it's sprite (Link from the past style) graphics though. If you can live with it, one of my favourite story games.

I have toyed with the idea of trying them, off and on, since they came out. Well, still don't have a PS5 so...maybe I'll grab them.

It Takes Two is my GotY pick personally still.

Requires another friend to play it with, but it was such a great game.

The other day I found Detroit: Become Human which I had forgotten I had so I gave it a try. It is great. Could be described as one of those choose-your-own-adventure-games, it is heavily story driven. The story is great and I've enjoyed it so much I'm looking to buy the other Quantic Dreams games.

If you like fast paced games, then this may not be the best choice for you. If you like story games, then it might be.

There is not a single game in which you play with others that is NOT pay to win

best games are single player like god of war or kingdom hearts
