Zovaal, the true leader of the Drust?

In the recent Sanctum of Domination cinematic we see Zovaal wearing an unusual chest piece that does not match the rest of his armor. It looks like he picked a different chest piece for his armor set
Now, to whoever claims that is how steel, or whatever substance he's wearing, looks like when you rip a hole in it - it doesn't. It is obviously a wooden bark. And it weirdly resembles the Drust's Barkish skin (almost the same texture and color):

It's a weird addition to an armor set like this (which is based on Maw aesthetics). It would be like the Lich King wearing a Druid set piece instead of a Death Knight one. It's clearly out of place and meant to draw attention.

Now, what if Zovaal is actually the true leader of the Drust? other than a single chest piece, i can draw several other comparisons.

For once, both have grey skin:

(I can't link the concept art for the race, which clearly shows a grey skin)

Secondly, both use magic with a blue/black hue:

Which, somewhat resembles the trees in Korthia:

What do you think? Is there a connection between Zovaal and the Drust? or am i just imagining it? If there is, what are the implications of such connections?

They definitely seem to use the same blueish tinted Soul Magic.

However, imo the chestplate looks like twisted/melted metal. If you look at Bolvar's armor, it looks like that.

I assume that reflects the damage the armor took when the orb was originally stolen from him.

I addressed it. To me, it doesn't look close to something like steel being damaged.

Can you post the supposed Bolvar armor that looks like that? i don't remember anything like that...

Again, you seem to think that is how iron/steel looks like when damaged. To me, it looks like tree bark. Am i not seeing it right?

For me they look totally different. Drust looks more like adruid while jailer more like warrior.

When the Primus got his power back, he also summoned back his old gear. I believe it's the same for the Jailer.

His armor is broken in that spot, because the eternal ones tore his sigil out there. I think it's just supposed to look broken and twisted.

Yes, it looks slightly like gnarled wood. But this is the Uber Lich King. The drust just have a similar blue color. This is steel, not wood.

It looks like metal to me as well - metal that was rended and left jagged from something that was wrenched free of the Jailer's chest (probably the same orb he takes from the Arbiter). It also bears metallic engraving at the bottom of the cuirass.

My initial thought was 'That looks a little drusty...'

If it were metal I'd expect it to look more snarled or bent, but it does have a woody (haha) splinter type appearance to it. Sure, he has his keys and the ball in his chest now, but maybe he needs something else to cover up that hole. Or maybe it's just a convenient 'death star trench' straight into killing him. Big dragonballZ blast of light, Naaru shard insertion, light-infused weapons, mourneblades, whatever. Just no Sylvanas tickle-arrows.

Edit: Other posters mentioned being damaged from when the orb was removed. I could buy that, but doesn't that mean the orb could still be removed, yet again?

His armor looked like bark at first when I saw it, but looking at it again now it almost seems like clay.

So why does it look so different from the rest of the armor, texture and color-wise?

Yeah, why didn't it fix the hole in his chest?

    ? How exactly?

I mean, I looked at it thinking, "well, I first saw it as bark..." and when I looked at it, I thought, "well, the rest of his armor is like plate, so why isn't the chest looking like plate? Does it look like plate?" And then I looked at the chest, trying to see if it was like plate. And then, looking at it again, I couldn't see it like bark anymore. Now it looked like clay. Well, specifically, it starts around the outside of the cracks and stops around where the top of the chest seems to end at the cuffs, or at the helm part. Those parts seem like plate. But the inner part of the chest, where the scar is, that part all looks like clay to me now. If I had to describe it, it looks softer than metal, smoother than metal, not shiny.

It doesn't? Aside from the hole in the chest, it looks like the same textured cuirass bordering what appears to be scale mail that several of the other Mawsworn NPC's in Torghast wear. Its color seems to be the same gunmetal gray as well.

I think that's the source of the confusion- the crack just don't look much like metal. Broken metal is twisted and bent. The crack looks almost modeled deliberately, and as you say the material is smooth rather than sharp.

It's hardly a huge issue, and Blizzard is working with a 20+ years old engine after all, but if nothing else their visual design is usually on point and this time I feel they didn't use the right materials, textures, shaders or whatnot.

What? do i need glasses? it looks nothing like the metallic gear worn by Maw creatures, and it's definitely not gray, but more of a dried-wood brown.

    The chest piece.

It feels like the chest piece is not part of the set.

I don't really know what to tell you about your own eyesight - I can just tell you it looks gray to me, doesn't look like wood, doesn't look linked to or inspired by the Drust either. Aesthetics are largely subjective at the end of the day, so YMMV.

It looks somewhat like wood to me as well. I don't think it's wood or that it means he's related to the Drust (who knows, though). Also, conceivably, metal could break in way such as that.

It actually is, sorry. No wood here…

They both use similar magic no doubt about it but looking more at the armor it just looks like metal

I see why you think it's wood, but I have to agree with the others saying that they think it's just metal. More to the point, the Drust were originally just mortals from Azeroth so I don't think that the Jailer would be their leader unless they just decided to throw in their lot with him for some reason.
