Indeed. The Vulpera and the Pandaren aren't furries but the players who play them CAN be. WoW has a lot of races for the furry fandom to choose from. FFXIV could do a lot better in that department since they only have the Hrothgar.

If we could get one more race, I'd rather it be something completely different, like maybe a race of magitek/clockwork androids like the Yukes from the Crystal Chronicles series. IIRC the only other MMO that did playable robots was Wildstar with the Mechari. For Yukes you wouldn't even have to create a male and female model if you wanted to so it'd be more plausible than a race with male and female models.

Comics have been dead in the West for 20 years. ​X-Men was cancelled for "low sales" in 1969 but it was still selling almost 250,000 copies per issue per month. Marvel was selling a million books a month. Today, a "good run" is selling 5,000 books total. We're talking a 95% reduction in sales compared to the good 'ole days. Marvel will reboot a new line, and the first issue sells "okay" due to people checking it out, and then the sales decline with each issue. Usually by the fifth issue, the comic is cancelled before it even finishes, because so few people continue to buy the series. The comics doesn't have the talent. You don't have talented people like Jim Shooter or Jack Kirby or John Buscema anymore. Nobody cares about crappy Hulk reboot #47. The MCU wasn't popular because of superheroes; it was popular because the movies were decent Hollywood stuff and had huge marketing budgets. Marvel filed for bankruptcy and is only being kept alive so that the IP of the characters can be harvested to make movies. As a comic book company, the brand has been dead for decades.

The problem with comics isn't that people don't want them. The popularity of manga here in the America is proof of that. The problem is that American comics aren't fulfilling the desires of the public. American comics serve only one market: superheroes. People would rather wait for a translation of their favorite manga, rather than buy yet another Superman reboot comic series. There is a manga for everyone. You have highschool slice of life. You have fetish manga. You have epic shounen adventure stories. You have sword and sorcery manga like Berserk. You have romantic comedies. You certainly don't see any romance comics coming out in America. The art of manga is also more appealing than whatever is coming out of Western comic houses nowadays. Americans might enjoy movies derived from comics, but 99% of Americans don't read comics anymore.

I can understand why people like the game but it has never been for me. I've tried it again recently and I feel sorta the same. It's just too much, it doesn't appeal to me. Honestly the biggest issue for me is names and lore. I don't much mind the gameplay and art style. I am trying to follow along for a "story rich" and I can already tell the names are too freaking crazy for me to keep track. Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn is where I was kinda like "okay I can't do this" this is a starting character I meet and I'm already checking out. As I go looking at character names on a wiki I am just...confused. I mean I'm not saying some characters in the warcraft universe aren't crazy but they just flow better for me. I KNOW I am not going to be able to keep things straight in the FFXIV story so it just doesn't appeal to me. It doesn't click, and that's okay. Seems like a great game, just not for me. I hope it's success get the people hamstringing the WoW devs to wake the fuck up.

My problem isn't that it's Japanese, but that it's Japanese in an annoying way. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is very Japanese and I love it, but it draws on different parts of the culture. FFXIV draws on parts of Japanese culture I don't personally enjoy.

Not even Japanese culture in and of itself but just... JRPG tropes, is what puts me off myself. Small annoying mascots. Big tiddy anime girls (with cat ears more often than not). It being a struggle to not make a human character a pretty boy. Overdesigned aesthetics, which is also a WoW problem but not as bad and not as often. Ridiculous animations. The list goes on for a very long time.

But I've tried to get into the game twice and just couldn't do it twice, whereas just like you Sekiro drew me in immediately and is my favorite From Soft game. Final Fantasy VII was the last Final Fantasy game whose style 'did it' for me; since then they took a different direction, both in terms of art and story, and while I played some of the later Final Fantasy titles, the series died for me after FF7. And even then, FF7 was starting to include a lot of these tropes... Those were definitely my least favourite parts of the game.

Now it's just some generic JRPG. FF14 is just a terrible aesthetic, a storyline that is both too juvenile and too cliche, and overall not my cup of tea.

And that's okay. Not everything has to be for me.

It sucks, simple as that. The design of the characters, the school girls crap, the children race, even the weapons/armor is way too japanese. Is actually sad that this game abuses that to the point of making the game silly and ridiculous.

I have never played a game so boring in terms of "looks" and design like FF14. My male character looks like a cheap version of Sasuke Uchiha using a sword/shield.

Honestly, compared to other games that come from Japan, FF14 is very tame in its "weeb" elements. It has some, sure, but this game seems to take after FFT creator's direction in shooting for a western feel.

Then I really don't know what you mean. FFXIV has all sorts of characters and they might be particularly cringe, but that's the case with every game. The thing is, the FFXIV story is way beyond everything any other MMORPG does at the moment.
