This is an attempt to make it look like the problem are the players, and they are trying to improve the game with pointless changes like this, punishing customers.

The players are the problem in this case. It is a group of players abusing /spit to harass anyone who bought a mount. Including using an addon/weakaura to automatically do it on target. They don't have to attempt anything to make it look like the problem is a group of players. It is literally players triggered by the mount/CE that they need to harass anyone that does it.

It has happened before in retail most recently with the sprite darter costume. But retail has a short attention span and nothing major came of it. The classic crowd seems to hold grudge beyond reasonable levels.

The way I see it, Shop connoisseurs make in-game tickets that go something like ''I was /spit on because I ride my 25 Euro mount and I don't like it'', that goes through GM's to the bean counters and the bean counters value their Shop connoisseurs more than the vast majority of the player base.

Why give a free pass to people harassing others just because it involves a cash shop item? It has everything to do with toxicity. If people were not using it to be toxic it likely wouldn't even have been thought of by Blizzard as a thing that needed to be removed.

Frankly removing /spit is stupid. It's an online game, which aren't rated by ESRB. Trying to even pretend this is cyberbullying is fucking hilarious.

I can think of a way they could've resolved this without censoring players. Give everyone the mount, in the mail. Every player. Refund everyone who bought it as well.

I will in 5 days when my game time runs out. I would have liked to stay in Classic but they had one, simple job and they fucked that up.
