Imagine still playing retail in ''insert current year''
This is what people wanted.
Everyone was bitching about abundant, warforged loot. So now enjoy the rare, unique ones. If you get em.
This is the side effect of "let loot be loot". Less loot has to drop or else you'll be fully geared in 2-3 weeks.
You guys asked for this.
Why would you do that unless your guild is a casual pugging guild anyway? You bring irl friends when contents on farm and you're sitting people who can't be arsed to raid.

*Hands up* I didn't. Will they change it back for just me?

TBC is slooooooooow. I forgot how bad it and classic were.
That literally still happened under master loot. I suppose less likely in classic due to raid size, but there was plenty of times in TBC - MoP where I saw a bad player get loot because surprise surprise the gear that dropped was for his class and no one else (or the guildy that used the game gear already had it).
That's not even getting into ML's who played favorites, though admittedly I saw that far less than RNG favoring the worst player.
To iterate on my idea earlier in the thread --
The removal of ML had nothing to do with "GM tickets" or "bad GMs" or even shitty Loot Councils. It's the fact that the existence of ML necessitated split runs from middle-of-the-road CE guilds and Blizzard wanted to curb their popularity. They effectively made it so that guilds can still do splits but they're far less impactful and there's a much lower burden on lower ranked guilds from feeling compelled to do splits. Personally, I never understood Blizzard's distaste for split runs but it strikes me as a bit less than coincidental that the expansion after Ion went on record asking the community how to curb split raids and the community overwhelmingly provided feedback that forced PL is the way... that forced PL came shortly thereafter.

do weapons drop in SoD, haven't seen any yet...
Or, you know, maybe you're just unlucky, like everyone is from time to time in WoW.
WoW players are all trash? M+ leavers? Pug raid fails? You don't have stuff to do? WoW has become a solo player game for you? People don't talk anymore? Everyone's toxic? I have a simple solution, just for you!
Get social. Join a guild.
In a vacuum, THE grind being gear isn't bad and loot scarcity creates that grind. It's certainly better than grinding AP or essences, etc. Unfortunately, covenants and conduits have also become necessary in the grind and in some cases are way more time gated.
I wouldn't mind the loot scarcity from raids if that was the only thing holding back player progression but devs once again missed the mark with multiple systems that just demand too much, especially if you have interest in alts at all.
