Larry Elder says Slave Owners should be the ones owed reparations

Yes you heard that right, Larry Elder the front runner in the California recall election(who is black by the way) says that if anyone should be owed reparations it should be slave owners and not the slaves. While appearing on Candace Owens(who is also black) radio show they talked about reparations and that because their "legal property" was taken from them that slave owners should have been paid reparations. Not the the thousands upon thousands of slaves who's forebearers were taken from their homes, packed so tightly onto ships they could barely move, sold like cattle, forcibly bred with one another to make strong babies, women and girls raped by their masters, beaten/killed if they tried to escape and finally worked until their dying breath. Ya those people don't deserve any reparations but the people who did all that to them totally deserve it.

So beyond the fact that Larry Elder is the living embodiment of Samuel L. Jackson's character Stephen from Quentin Taratino's Django Unchained there are other reasons that Larry Elder is a piece of crap. He believes that minimum wage should be gotten rid of(real surprise there with his views on slavery) and that all Covid restrictions should be removed and no one should need to get a vaccine because well over 660 thousand Americans and growing dead is not a really big deal. He probably has other beliefs and traits that make him a horrible politician but these three are enough for me to never vote for him.

Recall Front-Runner Larry Elder Says He’s a Libertarian and ‘I Don’t Have Horns’

“The biggest challenge in California in general is the intrusiveness of government,” he said. “I believe that a government that governs less governs best.”

Hence his views on the minimum wage (there shouldn’t be one), pregnancy discrimination prohibitions in the workplace (leave it to the market), public welfare programs (it encourages “women to marry the government”), public schools (he prefers school vouchers), state-funded health insurance programs (“you need to have competition”) and recreational drugs (he supports legalization).

Likewise, climate change activists and conservationists are “environmental extremists,” the reformist district attorneys in Los Angeles and San Francisco are “soft on crime” and safety net programs pushed by Democrats represent “an attack on the nuclear family.”

When selecting a judge or justice, he would model his selection on self-described originalists like Clarence Thomas and the late-Antonin Scalia.

And for the state Board of Education? “Somebody who has the same philosophy as the former Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos,” he said.

    ----

Seems to me we have a couple posters here that reflect the same ideology.

Sure, it's disgusting, but honestly are we supposed to expect any more from the GOP?

It is funny that Candace Owens is in the habit of calling other people "race hustlers," though. Given her choice of profession.

Well, here's the thing. Sam Jack's character in DU actually made some sense. Sure, he was a slave...but he was a slave in a comfortable position with no better options that he could see. He lived his entire life as a slave and this was as good as it got for him. Now, I'm not arguing that Stephen wasn't a piece of shit...but his situation is somewhat understandable in the context of his living conditions. Elder's got no excuse.

    First of all:

    Second:
"legal property" was taken from them that slave owners should have been paid reparations.
Slave owners did receive reparations. Slaves didn't.
Populists (and "national socialists") look at the supposedly secret deals that run the world "behind the scenes". Child's play. Except that childishness is sinister in adults.

He is also on a platform owned by Chinese billionaires. Which is rather ironic, considering that Republicans hate the Chinese. Don't tell them that though, they really hate it when you point out facts that they are believing a Chinese propagandist.

Dude's okay with seniors and children going hungry...this isn't gonna phase him. He'll say some shit about how he doesn't believe in slavery....but he'll agree that slaves were property and that their owners deserved restitution for that lost property.

I want a response from a “rigid libertarian” like @Machismo.

He wouldn't be the first or the last.

Well, he's still on his mandatory MMO-C Vacation. So I'm roleplaying. That's what, in my assessment, his feelings would be on this matter. He'll play lip service to how slavery is terrible and completely incompatible with libertarianism... but yeah, slavers had their property taken from them and that's bad too.

I feel bad for anyone who willingly role-plays a libertarian. It’s gotta be rough.

It's super easy...barely an inconvenience. All I have to do is pretend not to give a fuck about anyone other than myself and it all flows naturally from there.

"I'm the centre of the universe, and I'm going to imagine my perfect world where I can do whatever I want to the NPCs around me. They, of course, won't do anything bad to me even though the lack of rules mean that they could, because why would they want to do that?"

    I think that's about it.
When challenging a Kzin, a simple scream of rage is sufficient. You scream and you leap.

    *Still in Libertarian Cosplay*

Sounds like something an NPC would say.

As far as I can see that was just in a few places. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compen...#United_States

I'm not saying that they should have been paid - only that most weren't.

The sad state of one of the 2 largest sides in US politics, unfortunately. They're so completely garbage, so much of the time, that things like this don't even shock us. We simply think "of course he said that" before we move on to the next thing.

If for no other reason than to tell us how we've got him all wrong...and then following it up with arguments that prove we were right.

Ah, the classic. Wouldn't be Machismo if he didn't.
